Thank you! I hope to get more doodlebug footage there this summer...

This is the only operating Doodlebug anywhere in North America. I used to break my back to go to New Jersey to ride No 4666 on the Black River & Western some 20 years ago. This car sounds like a diesel truck with its two Cummins diesels but 4666 used to just chug along sounding like a Model T with its Hamilton Diesel, which was a blimp engine. But 4662 has a charm all its own.

@HaloCE14 I don't think doodlebugs were considered street cars. Although They look like them, I'm pretty sure these were actually used on Branch Lines that didn't need long distance trains. Sometimes these would pull an extra unpowered coach along with them for more seating capacity.

Great video. How many doodlebugs (we call them railmotors) still operate in the USA?

What station was that where the PRR steam engine was in the siding?
@Bigjimvideo13 жыл бұрын
@indie1361 It's not actually a station anymore. It's a daycare in Hockessin, DE. Just a daycare with a steam engine outside. :) But it used to be a B&O station back in the day.
