Hello, the A2403 PUDGE is our most popular catcher's mitt. It was developed with Pudge Rodriguez and is used by many pros. This model features an extended palm to reduce rebound as well as a wider web and stiffer thumb.

@wilsonballgloves 12 жыл бұрын
The A2403 Showcase is a great option for you. It’s a great fit for smaller hands, has SuperSkin to keep it light, and an Extended Palm to limit rebound. If this one is too small, the A2000 1791 is our most popular catchers mitt measuring in at 32.5" with an Extended Palm. The 1791 is MLB's most popular Catcher's mitt pattern.

We do not sell wrist guards for catcher’s mitts, but a local glove shop may be able to help you find one. A few MLB catchers like to use them for additional protection. All of our A2000 catcher’s mitts retail for $220, but Wilson does not sell any directly at this time.

I own the all star cm3000 sbt, the same one saltilamachia uses and it is the best mitt i ever had. I am a high school catcher and this glove has the perfect pocket, nice pop, and a light, open design for nie transfere. I highly recomend it. Sorry for late reply

We responded to your other comment as well, but in case you missed it - It all comes down to preference. The A2K will have more padding in the palm, which may suit your catching style more, while the A2000 will allow you to have more feel because it only has one palm pad. Get to the store and try them on before you buy!

We included SuperSkin on all of the 34" Catcher's Gloves because it is a larger glove and we wanted to decrease the weight (something to consider if you're going to go custom). You are right; the only way to get one is to order one through the custom site.

The BW38 and the 1796 are both good choices at 11.75” and the 1782 is 11.5”. They’re shorter gloves that will work well for infielders while still allowing you to mask your grip in the glove.

No, Aso is sitting on a stretching pad from the Reds gym that is in the lawn area across from him. The white thing is a large foam pad that he puts under the glove when he pounds it so the floor doesn't ruin the glove.

You can use Aso’s hot water method on any glove, even those with SuperSkin because they still have leather in the palm. This is a great tactic to use on your glove.
@wilsonballgloves
@wilsonballgloves 12 жыл бұрын
The ideal catcher’s mitt will close around the baseball or softball with a rounded pocket for the ball to fit and stay in. The mitt should not be creased down the middle because this can cause the ball to rebound out of the glove. For more insight, check out the Break It In tab on our Facebook page. We have a page designed specifically for catcher’s mitts.

The David Wright Game Model glove would work well in both positions. It is long enough to play the outfield but still short enough for the control and quick transfer that is needed at the hot corner.
@wilsonballgloves
@wilsonballgloves 13 жыл бұрын
@Live4Sox The Pudge is smaller at 32 ½” which many catchers prefer for a quick transfer. However, the M1 at 33 ½” has SuperSkin which is lighter than conventional leather.

Glove conditioner is not necessary for glove break in. The best thing to do is play catch with a weighted ball and pound your glove with a mallet or 8 pound weight. If you do both those steps for a few days in a row. You should feel your glove get softer and closer to the shape and feel you are looking for just by doing that.

If you feel it is drying out, you can apply Wilson Glove Conditioner to keep the leather soft. Check out our KZbin video How To Apply Baseball Glove Conditioner and Oil to learn more about applying Glove Conditioner. Unless you live in a dry climate, you should only have to apply Glove Conditioner at the beginning and end of the season. If you glove gets wet, make sure to let it air dry completely. Also, always store your glove in a breathable spot with a ball in the pocket.
