The quality and craftsmanship between the two are worlds apart. Would love to see Honest Outlaw do an A-B comparison of the Wilson SFX9 compared directly to the Stacatto CS in an equivalent configuration. (RDS on each) Looks like the bore axis is lower on the Wilson and the grip may be slimmer for carry since it is a one-piece frame. Great review.

Yes, which one of the two would be best for concealed carry in the two main carry positions (appendix and 4 o’clock). The CS is a 3.5 inch barrel and the SFX9 has the 3.25 so I think those two would be the most comparable (especially the one with the 10 round magazine with 15 round magazine included (which give the owner more options and little downside). Mine came with a 4 pound trigger that I had lowered to 2 1/2 pounds. Never had a misfire. The super short barrel means you have to concentrate on pulling the trigger but I can get really great accuracy. The grip safety on a 1911 is also a drop safety because it blocks the search from moving. In place of this lack of a grip safety according to a Wilson Combat agent they use an "Xtra Xtra power firing pin spring" to make it drop safe. Fun Fact: Wilson was inspired by the Star Fire Star series of pistols particularly the "compact" 9mm models with alloy frames. I used to dream of a fairly affordable handgun with no grip safety, the slide look of a 1911 and an alloy frame (because CZ compacts have thin slides). Years after the X9 series gets made, everything I wanted other than the price.

Great video!! FYI, Unfortunately neither my Gun shop or myself were able to purchase an ambi safety for the sfx9 from WC. It’s actually a proprietary thumb safety that will only be installed by their armorers. That was a bummer. I’m guessing it’s a liability thing. The front right plate hole is for access, not for a screw so what u saw wasn’t a broken screw. Also the front sight fell off. QC may need some attention. All in all the sfx9 is a phenomenal pistol that is soooo reliably accurate Had a few hiccups with my C2 but of the box but after that the gun runs great as well. WC, not a bobble from the start.

Glad to see this review. I've finally arrived at the point in my life where I could get one of these without missing a mortgage payment and have been wondering if it's as good as Wilson and Hackathorn say it is.

Regarding the safety, you actually CAN'T change it yourself. It's a proprietary part, different from standard 19/2011 format safeties, and Wilson won't sell you one to fit yourself. You have to send the gun in, which is a major bummer and costs nearly $300 all said and done with shipping.

I have an SFX9 full size. I purchased mine new and found that the gun shot a little low. I purchased an adjustable sight for both elevation and windage from Wilson Combat and tried to remove the stock sight to install the new one. The stock rear sight would not budge. It would not move using a heavy duty sight pusher. It would not move when using brass punch and hammer. I contacted WC and explained the problem and sent the slide and new sight in to them for installation....which they did...and charged me for it. The sent me my slide back to me loose in a cardboard box. The box had a small piece of bubble wrap in it that was not even wrapped around the slide and about 75% of the bubbles in it were deflated...probably from the slide bouncing around during shipment. When I went to adjust the windage on the new sight, it, too, would not budge. I came to find out that there was some kind of adhesive that they use that apparently cemented it in place so that it would not move. I ended up using MEK to dissolve the adhesive in order make adjustments. Customer service was less than satisfactory.

"Not good for your first gun" Yup. I have a student who has become a shooting buddy, a guy who needs the best of everything, the internet told him to buy one of these (with dot mounted) last year so he did. I informed him he would be getting stuck in open class shooting against $7k open guns making major. So then he moved to CZ to have different class options. Now USPSA has Limited Optic division, where this gun would still be at a disadvantage. Fortunately Wilson is selling it as a carry gun, he has probably 4000 rounds through it and yes it is near flawless.

Between the SFX9 and Staccato CS, which has the more comfortable grip for your sized hands?

Have one of the original X9’s and I absolutely loved it! Kinda interested in the SFT 9 (4 1/4” Commander length). 🤔

Myself I hate grip safeties. Usually pin them, but I would rather have it not there all together. Those are really nice guns. I would carry it for sure.

Great review as always. If you had to pick between the Stacatto C2 and this SFX9 I wonder which you would personally pick?

Interesting use of the "fourth hole", I'm lucky to get a screw in 2 holes. Take what you can get, I guess.

Not sure if you have seen or heard of the Stealth Arms Platypus, but I'd love to see you do a review of it. I'd also like to see the way you choose to customize it being that you can basically build it however you want it and cerekote almost everything on it.

As an owner of a G19, I totally agree with your assessment. I shot my friends hair trigger 1911 and I was faster & more accurate with the 1911 iron sights than my G19 with a dot.

Some day I’ll buy a Wilson Combat, unfortunately I want one of everything so the safes are full and the budget is low lol
