This is a great format. Recording the voice over before recording the video, then editing the red reference markings into the shot is so helpful. This is great.

Love the instructional. It seems that you scripted it, ran the script while you were demonstrating, and then put it all together with editing. This makes for perfect instruction with no fluff, babbling, or tangents. Straight to the point with lots of details. Excellent!

Question for everyone about 5:14- what do you all do when the opponent grabs or otherwise controls the shoulder/arm of the arm that is reaching forward to grab their head? For example, when they do a gable grip over your shoulder with their elbow under your chin?

Thank you very much for the instructional. I would have a question if u dont mind answering At 3:55 if the opponent pressures his knee into the inside, how do i get to the inside for chest to chest? Do i do a different pass in this situation?

Quick question - why does the body lock need to be low around the waist when you put your left arm behind his back for tight waist (why can’t you do more of an upper chest bodylock) ? The reason I ask is because if the tight waist were more on the upper back , the “cranial shift “ to the head that you have to make after you pass your feet from his guard would be much shorter and easier .

I agree with what you've said about the instructional format being dry as hell and it working simply because everyone is doing it. It leads to long and boring videos because the instructor has room to improvise, forget and stall. This is way closer to the truth of what a truly good instructional should be, a script so not to forget details and remove stalling completely and then performing the technique like a marionette doll to your own recording. Also love the added drawn lines to really hammer down the ideas of placement and pressure. Keep working, we all love what you guys are doing!

I am not a BJJ guy. And I am wondering since he has both arms in use to get a body lock, appears to be easy to get a choke, especially using gi because he is not able to defend the neck with two arms under the opponent's body. Is it just for NoGi situations?
@hermixtonen
@hermixtonen Жыл бұрын
My opinion - 1) in no gi, if you keep your forehead in the center of their chest, there is very little chance they will choke you . 2) in gi, I suppose a collar choke is in play , but the guy on top only needs one hand to do the tight waist . Especially in gi, where he can grab the guard player’s belt or gi, rather than having to use both hands on the bodylock. Having that free hand can help avoid a choke
