It is quite instructive to see how GM destroy expert players (rating between 2000 and 2200). Their opponent plays quickly one-move threats that do not build anything in the hope a stream of such moves will translate into an initiative, while the GM builds up his position. Eventually, the expert has a clock advantage, no more one move threat, and the GM just runs over his position.

Hi noob question at 3:27what happens if after pawn takes H5 and rook takes, if white plays night takes d4, threatening the rook with the queen?
@Wubbs64
@Wubbs64 Жыл бұрын
Not a bad question, so it's a slightly advanced reason that I'll check with computer later, but my thinking is this: after pawn takes h5, the rook does not recapture. Instead the game continues very similar to the video (black bishop to c3, Rb1, Nb4 and so on) but the difference is that the pawns in front of the white king are even weaker, so if black in the long term decides to attack on that side, the pawns are too isolated and over extended to defend effectively. So it's a good question, I wouldn't say taking h5 is a terrible move and if white plays well that past porn could be very useful, and you're correct to see rook takes back is not an option. The reason I said it's slightly advanced is that the ideas here for why I would rather be black in that position are about the long term weakening and exposure of the king, and the long term effectiveness of the pawns in either defence or an endgame.
@zakayomatasi5229
@zakayomatasi5229 Жыл бұрын
He doesn't have to recapture right away his idea was by playing h5 you either get to close that side of the board or open up lines towards White's king...after gxh5 I think Black ignores it by playing earlier plan Bc3 followed by Nb4 threatening to take a2 and push the a passed pawn...if White persists on invading the Black kingside then moves like Nf5, Rh6, Kf8 with potential to bring the queen to pile up on the h5 pawn and counterattacking on the White king...I think he was advocating more for the idea of h5 rather than immediate execution

@MatsMatsuo
@MatsMatsuo Жыл бұрын
H5 is to disrupt f5 break an the pawn play on king side, you don’t have to recapture the pawn as black, the idea is not a trade. Dynamically now white needs to worry everyturn about rook recapturing and being active on the H file and again the breakthrough is a lot more difficult. And eventually, if white somehow doesn’t lose on the queenside, the H pawn is most likely a goner anyway. You can call this a “temporally pawn sac” but this is so thematic and it is so bad for black to take that is basically not a pawn sacrifice
@geitekop507
@geitekop507 Жыл бұрын
You don't necessarily have to play 1...Rh8xh5. Instead, look at the pawn structure. Doubled h-pawns, a messed up kingside, and not really threathening f5 immediately (although black should be wary of it). However, for the courageous, 1. gxh5 Rxh5!? 2. Nxd4 g6 stops white's prospect of attack on the kingside. Now, white is a pawn ahead, but has no attacking chances on the kingside. Black simply is comfortable, whilst white constantly has to think of defending his weakened kingside. The only reason why h5 and g4 are moves to play is because the center is closed. But if white decides to snatch off the pawn on d4, the center opens up more, weakening white's kingside even further! Alternatives to taking on h5, are 1...Bc3 2.Rb1 (maybe leaving the rook on a1, and playing a more active move is also alright, because white needs to worry about his attack. So, instead of Rb1, maybe Nb1 is a try to get activity, even though the weakening of the kingside becomes even more apparent after the center clears up a little.) Nb4 (harrassing the bishop on d3, and intending to play Nf5, with further prospects of attacking on the kingside). Therefore, I feel that g4 was the bad move. h5 is a great punishment! Instead of g4, I think Nb1 (disencouraging black to go Bc3 and freeing up the bishop on c1), is the right way to proceed. Happy chess hunting!

9:14 I didn't like: "I'm guessing". Why guess. You have "rooks" on each of the last 3 ranks around your king, there are NO! checks, AND the king can walk to the other side of the rook, still no checks, and best of all, it's with tempo, aka free move. Free move, depending on available squares. You don't get a free move if they can force you into a more forced situation. Forced, meaning only few defenses, like Bh4.

Thing is that is probably too inaccurate to go as far as suggest cheating even. Playing last moves of a long game in top 2 lines of an engine doesn't need to mean anything. Some endgames can be silly like that. His find in this game was probably findable, yet more damning than what you refer to. And still far from enough I suppose. Also very sure he cheated mind you, suspect Amans gut was in same direction, but he shows major class instead of throwing accusations(or pc monitors!). Tip the hat to mr Hambleton!
