5:30... the most accurate and most poetic account of what sailing at night can be like. Thanks for that! You catch a glimpse of the magical experience that sailing at night has to offer. I always try to arrange night passages when I organize trips with my sailing friends. Often it is like you say: you don't find the words. Bon vent! (it's too bad to see you motoring 12 hours) et bon voyage
@WindedVoyage8 жыл бұрын
I couldn't find words at the moment, but when I was trying to describe the experience they just fell out. It's people like you who've experienced the feeling who can best understand what words can barely touch. The motor was a blessing. The sails were down and the view only obstructed by the swaying of the peplum like mast.

Your videos are so well made. Good balance between storytelling, sailing, music. I'm really enjoying watching them. I agree, sailing at night is an intense experience. Happy sailing mate.

I like to keep a Virginia Ham, dried sausages, baccala and seasoned beef hanging on board and I thought I was the only one.... Great way to provision, especially if you don't have refrigeration on board. Nice job.

I had no idea that ham would last so long. Two weeks!

keep up the videos! even the day to day stuff IS interesting. Especially to those of us drudging through the 9 to 5. Keep them coming my friend!

I've done the 9 to 5 gig for 35 years at advertising agencies. Now I'm doing what I've always wanted to do for a long time. A challenge financially, but since my kids are grown and single, I have less responsibilities and a lot more time to make day to day stuff fun. Thanks for the good word Scott.

Excellent video, thanks Alex!! Not only did you manage some beautiful shots of the Milky Way, but you even managed to make the waves look quite large too. Something my gopro fails miserably at ;) All the best guys.
@WindedVoyage8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, but the credit for the Milky Way goes to NASA. A camera can't capture that on a boat. Moves too much and you need to be on a tripod. As for the GoPo, I prefer to limit the fisheye setting. It makes things more real when you set it at 16:9 format, plus it films at 120fps which is super slow motion.

Great job Alex. Did you film this one in a different format? Reason I ask is that it was 'scrambled' when viewed on my Samsung tablet, but could be viewed on my laptop.

Hi Michael. I film with a Sony NEX-5 and GoPro. Then export an YT friendly compression with Final Cut Pro 7's "Compressor". I have been using these elements for a while now. There are some web mysteries that I will never understand. Thanks for letting me know.
