It also got soooo much stronger with link 1’s so this isn’t a showcase of why it’s annoying. Alleister or meltdown alone was one of the fusions plus the followup alleister for next turn

And once it gets into a grind, you can banish something from your opponent’s gy every turn to fusion if the attributes line up. Just a strong, small, grindy engine for any deck that didn’t have a great normal summon for like 3 years there

15:18 he banished aleister from hand with invocation, which is illegal. you can however get around this by chaining aleister to the invocation and giving raijin 1000ATK and resolve the fusion summon, banishing the aleister from GY, but you can't banish from hand. i want to say this isn't important, but in reality, when you're playing against a highly reactive trap-deck. it is important. plus keeping the gamestate legal is also important. hate to be that guy, but i love invoked so if you gonna argue back, screw you. in other news, i actually thoroughly enjoy this year of yugioh. and i adore both decks and im not sick of seeing zoo. never will be.

Invoked is pretty much the only Fusion deck which requires a specific name which still sees play. The only other are Branded Fusions and fringe uses of ABCs & GladBeasts. Most fusion decks have very generic Fusions which require either 2 archetype Monsters or archetype Monster + Monster of broad category. I don't hate either but it is a shame that alot of Fusion archetypes don't look like Fusions as much as they do Tributes in the Extra.

TBF, Meltdown was an issue in the Invoked-Dogamtika-Shaddoll format because it prevented the opponent from triggering any effects when they Fusion Summoned - i.e Construct. So it got better with time and was more than just a boring ROTA field spell. It was also a boring floodgate, for mirror matches.

I remember my friend actually made invoked windwitch because he actually bought like 5 packs of fusion enforcers and pulled two invocations and a mechaba out of them so he just got the rest and he was annoyed at how he kept bricking on glass bell. Though you can really see how invoked survived within zoo format when book of moon is powerful, monster negation and destruction also poweful and crystal wing couldnt be popped by Drident. Maxx C doesnt do a lot against aleister into mechaba, and my body as a sheild doesnt interact favorably against Mechaba either so it was sort of a perfect storm.

I'm aware it's fairly unhealthy and unfair, especially going first, but it was definitely one of my all time favorites. I know a lot of people hate on it. But VW with VFD, and simourgh into barrier statue bird up are equally as cancerous if you ask me. They're all similar to the scythe lock decks of 2022ish, or the Djinn lock from nekroz back in the day.

Kaijus dropped in 2015. There's technically a Kaiju deck but it's awful. Lot of anti-synergy because you literally give your opponent an omni-negate they can use against you.
