😅 thank you for all the kind words. It was one of my first fights back in 2011. I'm from a duncan leung applied wing chun school. We do train with application in mind and do regularly spar with other styles and big gloves.

With boxing gloves some of the techniques can work in boxing. Just my opinion a lot of it is not very useful but some forearm blocks and frames can actually level up your boxing ability.
@kermit12114 күн бұрын

Glad to see Wing chun stepping it up and doing better not just for their system but Traditional martial artits because its showing that unorthodox techniques or rather ones less common can work and if we had more videos we can actually study and improve rather then theorize.

I think it's worth keeping in mind what the reputation muay thai developed for winning against kung fu was mostly forged by professional fighters, people who didn't just train full time, but were selected into the profession from an early age based on aptitude, fighting against mostly amateur kung fu fighters who usually didn't have any sort of ring experience. The muay thai fighters were obviously better trained, but that doesn't mean that if you go to a muay thai gym a few times a week, you'll become a more effective fighter than someone putting the same level of effort into kung fu, and equally applying their skills against opponents, because you're learning a "better style."

The clinch is the scariest weapon of MT, one could think that WC bridging skill could give an advantage to clinching. I believe one cannot beat MT at their own game without having a stronger clinch than theirs. Sanda may be the perfect answer for that, with reaps, upper body throws,leg catches. If there was a mixed ruleset , long standing clinches, with all throws and strikes(no headbutt), the rules would stress trapping and bridging more.

@sergiobatista22725 күн бұрын
Is there a problem? Anyone can drop his guard as long as they aren't close to the opponent.
@Skaxarrat9 күн бұрын
Telegraphing your kicks seems to work for him, because he's feinting. The opponent may know that a kick is coming, but he's stopping the kick mid-air to punch him. So, when you see he's about to kick...he's really going to kick? Or he's making you think he's going to kick you so he can punch you through your defenses?

The wing chun is preventing the muay thai guy from getting into kicking range. Applied Wing Chun guys, (which is the style he is using) train to attack while the opponent is getting into range. That is why you see so many push kicks. Range control is a big part of training for Applied Wing Chun.

"Wing chun vs kickboxing" competition, lacking of knees and elbows, lots of unnecessary clinch breaks, 2 amateurs staying with 1,2 and tip kicks. Pardon my iguinorance but i didn't notice any Wing Chun technique either would be happy if someone could clarify for me.
@Centurio_110 күн бұрын
They are not exclusive to wing chun, but wing chun has a lot of those oblique kick or "shovel kicks", kick at the opponent thighs too.
@ibrohiem10 күн бұрын
The wing chung guy is using oblique kicks and shin kicks and push kicks, basically all kicks that doesn't go high because wing chung doesn't encourage high kicks. You can see him with wing chung style blocks with elbows and what not. You can alsow tell there's some spot where he wanted to toss the muy thai guy while in a clinch.
