This also works as an entry to take the enemy's back for a rear naked choke.

The Tan Sao is just another tool that can be used amongst many others from your "toolbox"when required. Great Vid. 👍

Great technique. I think the very last thing you mentioned is extremely important and no one else seems to tell you about. I find it is hard to get it off against a strong opponent at full tilt unless you really commit your weight and get an arcing swing of the right. This could be because I'm a hack. Not that i didn't want to get it as smooth as some demos make it look. Thanks again for vid.

I like it. I think using it against striking or grappling. Paring the punch or trapping and then running threw them. Hanging them out to dry.

Or you could use that entry to palm strike the chin, drive the head back, while sweeping the leg to plant the back of the opponents head to the floor. Always works for me😆

Nice. The palm strike makes this work.

Would this work if your attacker had some understanding of clinch work, and grappling?

That's a good question. One has to remember that initial punch to the jaw on entry, just as it slips up under the throat. Anyone not used to getting hit will have to adjust and deal with that, and it might throw off any of their prior clinch/grappling functionality. If they have the experience of dealing with hits, then it's a matter of evasion or taking base and working the range. That's where you get a mix of people who will provide you interesting challenges, as the clinch range is where you get to use the most tools you've been fortunate to train. Thank you for your question.
