The one thing that Legendary and or WB needs to understand is that no matter what, the Monsterverse just isn't going to do MCU money. The Kaiju genre, regardless of recent strides like Minus One, is still relatively niche. That being said, I would like for the two alphas to get their own films again, they would just to go a bit more low budget to meet expectations. That way, each film would make their budget back and it, along with their graphic novels and TV shows, build up more hype for the next team up.

I would personally love to see no more Kong films for a while and focus more on the Toho monsters. Yes, the hairy guy is extremely popular and more profitable, but the universe is flooded with fans of the Godzilla franchise. That's why everyone was so ecstatic when KOTM was announced and its movie reactions do better than KSI.

Good thought, but Legendary would have to shell out a large amount of money to Toho in order to use them. And even if they do, I don't think something like a solo Mothra or Rodan film would do huge numbers nowadays. A series or one shot special on MAX or Apple+, on the other hand...

You can't separate them now .because if you? KONG movies wouldn't outsell GODZILLA movies .because the monsters he faces are world 🌎 enders. And the ones Kong faces aren't. So the franchise now depends on Kong to be with Godzilla now .what they should have done. Was had their one movie and separated them back to their own movies and then have them in team up movies every now . But now three back to back .they've sealed the deal without knowing it maybe because I of the huge amounts of 💰 they're making with them in team up now ? KONG is now intertwine with GODZILLA who's more Threatening? KING GHIDORAH or Skull Crawlers ? Anyone else thinks Kong movies can outsell Godzilla movies now if they separated now it's absolutely wrong. Because the box office sells would prove it.

all they need to do is "oh Kong is busy elsewhere" or "oh Kong got injured" and boom, Godzilla 3. Heck, even the "they don't get along all that well" should be enough. On a sidenote, I hope Godzilla goes back to being blue for future films, a KOTM-esque Godzilla design/feel/groundness would be awesome for a Biollante or Destoroyah film

Solo Kong and Godzilla movies if it’s possible ( if toho allows legendary) get some more toho monsters that can fit in solo movies to Kong and Godzilla. Like anguirus for Godzilla and gorosaurus for Kong etc

Something to note: while not confirmed, it's possible that Legendary was sorta scared off from doing anymore Godzilla-focused content after the underperformance of G:KOTM at the box office. Remember how that era of worldbuilding and plot threads went almost entirely ignored for the longest time until recently in major non-comics media. I think this is the biggest hurdle to anymore Godzilla solo films, as Legendary likely doesn't want a repeat of that and can't afford as small of a budget for a mainline film; the Monsterverse is almost always staked on the next major movie. Also, I think you're being a bit overly critical of the rationale behind Godzilla and Kong having an uneasy alliance. We have to remember that Kong's the human-like one, not Godzilla. Although Godzilla is an intelligent and logical creature at times, he still has baser instincts and ingrained prejudices. Territorial disputes and potential upsets to one's ecosystem are things that will always be driving forces for Titans like Godzilla. I ironically think you miss part of the point of MV Goji's character in this regard, as you kinda forget that he's still very animalistic even if he is still also intelligent and emotive.

I mean...i wouldn't say legendary is scared of doing another godzilla solo film. They can but must not repeat what they did with kotm. 1. Don't pay to use so much classic stuff from toho, whether it's characters or weapons (oxygen destroyer) or classic music. None of that is cheap and only adds more to the budget. 2. Don't have your advertising last nearly a year, let alone don't show the entire movie in the trailers. That also add more to the budget. 3. Make sure your MV film is facing as little or as moderate competition as possible as legendary was too confident kotm would do well against marvel, Disney, john wick and Pokémon.

@@JoksterFox We do know though, look at the budget for kotm and look at the budgets for gvk and gxk. All 3 films have more than 1 kaiju aside from godzilla and it just so happens the film with the most marketing and the most things bought from toho also happens to be on the higher end of MV budgets. Almost costing 200 million compared to gvk's 150-160 million budget which is average and gxk's smallest budget of 135 million

Oh they can both *absolutely* get back to solo films, especially Kong whose films have never really fumbled domestically or internationally. You can still do a lot with Godzilla as well, as long as you don't just remake 1954 again like Minus One did, doing a proper remake was a long time coming but a new story would be preferable at this point.

I'm all for solo movies. I think the way to split Godzilla and Kong, is to remind us an individual Kaiju movie can work. So maybe do a movie with Rodan, Mothra, or a new Monster (Jirahs ), then when we have a Godzilla or Kong movie without the other it won't be such a shock. Or perhaps team them up with someone else instead: So Godzilla and Anguirus, or Kong and Mekanikongu (Mecha Kong). As always, thank you so very much for the videos. You know I think in the upcoming Monsterverse movie, when the military incapacitates both Godzilla and Kong, then they'll team up against the evil humans, they'll get along forever and will go back to their solo movies, with in the last solo Kong movie he will return to Skull Island along with Suko and the great apes from the Hollow Earth and they'll meet an albino Kong named Kiko, who will become Kong's second son and Suko's brother, while Shimo will stay as the queen of the Hollow Earth.

It's really sad that Wingard didn't think that this would have any major consequences considering the feedback he got from GvK. I'm also surprised that Windgard thinks Kong has an ego when he's never shown any of that in his movies. If anything, their "ego" reintroduces stupid logic just for them to fight, it's truly meaningless. You also hit the nail on the coffin when mentioning that there are movies where Godzilla and Kong don't need to be in each other's stories. Kong stands no chance against Godzilla's villains and Godzilla shouldn't be there to assist him. Both deserve respect in their stories because it's focusing on THEM and sharing that with someone else lessens that focus. The first team up was special because 1) everyone wanted to see it, 2) this was the first time that it happened in modern time, and 3) was the whole purpose of the Monsterverse. Now it feels like a requirement because money.

Aside from Ghidorah, kong could wipe the floor with any of Godzillas villains. Kong was one of the only monsters in the TOHO films that actually beat Godzilla. Kongs physical strength is unmatched. Kong is the only monster besides ghidorah and shimo that can lift Godzilla off the ground, and he is less than half their size. Kongs only real weakness is his lack of any real armor or protection.

I think Skar King could have won round 1 against Kong. Like he could have strangle Kong if it wasn’t for Suko giving him an heroic second wind. Skar King spend the fight hitting Kong’s palms and shoulders to damages them enough to make it impossible for Kong to clench his fists and axe. Skar King is also nearly as strong as Kong since we saw twice in the movie that he was able to hold Kong in a choke hold for a moment.

I wouldn't mind if Godzilla and Kong are in each others projects. My hope is for the next Monsterverse movie to be a Godzilla title film, with Kong. Godzilla is the center of the story, but Kong comes to help for the final fight. That way his presence is still there without taking the spotlight.

I like the duo movies but I'm already tired of it just from two movies with them both together there is just a magical force that forces them together. They team up to fight mechagodzilla then suddenly, oh look there is now another big bad that they have to team up for. I do hope we have solo films again because we've seen some of the movies reference each other even if it's an end credit scene or something like that e.g. kong on the monitor in 2019, Godzilla vs Ghidorah in 2017 and in shows kong at the end of season 1 of Monarch.

Hiya toys Evolved Godzilla actually got a new better and more articulated sculpt so the figure has been delayed. It was supposed to release in Q4 2024 but obviously hasn’t yet. Also hiya toys newest figures are best to preorder on different websites because Amazon preorders for most figures of any brands release a month or two later.

I liked GxK a bit? But honestly... I dont know... was meh. I feel like with kong we can more down to earth monsters, they dont need to shoot lazer beams or fly through orbit. They can be just imposing an massive; A threat to his ecosystem and something that has some unique traits Where as godzilla on his own can have that cosmic or otherworldly might behind it because he himself does, both can do dark or epic stories in different ways and keeping them together is... Solo films need to come back, but if the team up is the only way forward, at least give godzilla the same screen time as kong. I like kong, but i come to a film with godzilla in the title to actually see godzilla. Godzilla having top billing in the title and only getting less than half the screen time is just super disappointing. Equal screen time for your main monsters, or just go back to solo films.

@@fokushigaru1310 that's not going to happen, kong historically always had more screentime than godzilla and the 1 godzilla film that gave godzilla the most screentime (vs mechagodzilla 2, 20 minutes of godzilla) still isn't alot compared to the more screentime kong got in gvk or gxk by comparison. Godzilla isn't the only thing in said film regardless of why anyone chose to see it. Doesn't mean the film is 90% godzilla and 10% anything else. Even in their solo films kong had more screentime in ksi than godzilla did in either g14 or kotm. Even in king kong vs godzilla 1962 kong STILL had more screentime. Even mothra and godzilla in their first crossover didn't have equal screentime either. Godzilla isn't a character where he shares his screentime with humans by bonding with them or well anyone for that matter which is why a character like kong has so much screentime by comparison. On top of that, what's important is what godzilla does with said screentime. He had 8 minutes in gxk and 8 minutes in planet eater. Tell me which film did more with the character cause godzilla fighting 5 titans in 1 film seems alot more than godzilla earth not being able to touch ghidorah

Everything about Wingtard's Monsterverse films have been GARBAGE, except the vfx! The only reason they've done as good as they have is because of people's nostalgia driven tolerance. And the fact that you could make a film featuring Kong and Godzilla doing nothing but playing Pokémon together and tons of fans would still pay to see it! It's been funny to watch everyone gush over GvK and GxK only to have so much post nut clarity, and realize how hollow and discontinued the franchise feels now.
