WingFoil Course Racing. Everything you need to know. Tips & Tricks

This was the first wing foil course racing event ever organized by UKWA (UK Windsurfing Association) and was help at Rutland Water. We had only 8 competitors which wasn't too bad considering location. The wind was difficult gusting from 17 to 35 knots on the first day making things even harder but the it disappeared completely after noon so we had only 3 races. On the second day it shifted 90 degrees and was much lighter and I managed to finish 3rd in 3 races and 4th in the last one placing me 4th overall.
Gear used:
Board: F-one Rocket V2 75l
Wing: Cabrinha Mantis 4m and X3 7m
Foil: Gong Fluid L with Veloce S stab (day 1), Gong Veloce LT with Veloce L stab (day 2)
Camera: GoPro Max 360
Camera mount: Flymount

Hey mate, which board and foil you use ? You did great advise on wing - please advise on board and foil

Hi, things have changed a bit over a year. But mid length boards are the latest trend in wingfoil racing because they accelerate better. Something that can float you if the wind drops but it depends on conditions and skills. For course racing a slightly bigger foil for better upwind performance, for slalom - the smallest foil you can get up on in given conditions. I can't recommend a particular brand as it depends on availability in your region but ideally try at demo events or buy a second hand.
