I love Winky. I trained for 4 years and copied Winky's style. I dont know how Winky can hold that high guard up for 12 rounds. I could barely get through 3 rounds of sparing holding up a high guard.

Looking at his record I don’t think he ever truly lost until later in his career when he started taking fights like the Paul Williams fight. He was robbed of so many fights like Emmanuel Augustus and Darnell Boone.

Mr wright and Mr augustus are 2 of my top 4(J.Toney,D.Pirog) .....but winky was given much more credit .... winky hurt his opponent alot also ... neither fighter was overly interested in finishing their opponent .... both fighters wound up fighting under RJJ i believe ... i can see see the comparison .... robbery level associated with Mr Emanuel Augustus' career is significantly higher , to the point of outrage....where Mr. Ronald Wright is a decorated world champion and im sure HOF

Man I think he would have fucked oscar up bad. I remember him dropping his guard against Shane Mosley and letting him drop bombs while he just stood there nodding his head smiling. He had a great style and was tough as pigs ears. Always loved watching him box.

@@charliealder3522 nah , Oscar could’ve beaten him , Oscar was elite then and had great boxing skills along with solid power. With wind over great defensive guys like Pernell, peak Oscar could’ve beaten him in a close fight. Peak Oscar mostly only lost close fights

@@Xenlacasa45 Not necessarily. Oscar had more pure boxing skills, a great left hook to beat a southpaw and better speed of hand and foot. Oscar also had combination punching and IQ Vargas and Tito didn't have. Winky fought a lot of guys at the "wright time" and Mayorga was a champion then, so was Floyd. At 154, Oscar has all the tools to beat Winky IMO. Oscar fought guys equally or more challenging than Winky. Low work rate fighters never were that good against prime Oscar. All the common opponents they had were more decisively beaten by DLH, although triangle theories don't work well. I think Oscar would get an SD, maybe a late knockdown.

Am I reaching or is Sean Strickland low key the Winky of MMA? I can’t be the only one who sees the similarities. Winky fought out a high guard and Sean fights out an active Philly shell that he uses to parry instead of rely on head movement and set up counters followed by a slick jab and walking his opponents down. Both have impregnable defenses in their guards both are pressure fighters and both have some of the best jabs in their respective sports…🤔
