In this video, I show how we pack and get the RV ready for a trip. Everyone packs a little different, and I show how we do it as a family of 4. I do show a couple of modifications in the video as well.
My Amazon store: www.amazon.com...
Amazon Links:
Sink Mat: amzn.to/3eE9KjD
Knife Organizer: amzn.to/3RztBio
Silverware Organizer: amzn.to/3RzLb62
Utensil Organizer: amzn.to/3Qv0gnS
Soda Organizer: amzn.to/3B6GJ7P
Non Skid Rubber Feet for Soda Organizer: amzn.to/3KYp32G This goes on the bottom of the soda organizer so it doesn't slip around. The adhesive doesn't stick well so Hot glue works.
Back pack laundry bag: amzn.to/3Dantsw
Rubber Bands for pan lids: amzn.to/3qvZqMZ
Non skid hangers for towels: amzn.to/3x9PU6c
Sink Strainer: amzn.to/3x6q8PZ I didn't show in detail in the video but you can see it.
Bathroom wall organizer I used for toothpaste: amzn.to/3eBAtNH
Bathroom garbage can: amzn.to/3qn9hVF
Shower Caddy: amzn.to/3cY3aUs Remember it doesn't fit perfect. You will be able to use the back clips on both, and front clips only on 1 side.
Folding Stool: amzn.to/3QrnAmA
Bunk Ladder Light Weight: amzn.to/3QxnXfn You will have to cut this to the right length with a hack saw. This one is made in USA. The same company has a cheaper one that is not made in USA.
Refrigerator fan. The one I have, the batteries don't last long, so I don't recommend.
For shoe rack, spice rack, curtain, sponge holder, bathroom cup holder, touchless light and other items not mentioned, you can find the links in the interior tour and the 20 top mods videos. I may have missed some other items you saw, so write a comment if you need more detail.

5 or 7 gallon water jugs with spigots stored on shower floor. Plus everybody has their own 1 liter drinking bottle for refills.

That's a good idea. I thought about having a water jug anyways just to transport water when necessary.

We use zeroWater Pitchers, got tired of weight & disposing of bottled water. We also have water purifyer under sink and have one outside hook up . We still use the zero water pitchers . filter lasts about 3 months but less when using it 24/7. We keep dog food, waste basket and liquor under sink cabinet and also a space for cleaning supplies. under there.

Yeah that's a good idea. Still haven't done anything yet. The issue I have is that my water Fill at my house is soft water and I'd rather not drink soft water. Most of our trips are from our house water source that is soft water. Will do something in the future one day.

Another great video - just found your channel. As for how to store water, 3 or 5 gallon glass (preferably) or plastic water bottles used with either a countertop dispenser or pump that sits on top of the bottle. Can filter and refill at home before heading out or at a grocery store water dispenser for about 35¢/gal. If the water must be cold, put a couple of ice cube trays in the freezer.

Not a bad idea. I have yet to do anything about it. Our family uses about 7 gallons of drinkable water on our usual weekend trips so that make is a pain to find a right container.

I've had the travel berkey for many many years and never liked the taste of water from some areas so we quit using it. There now has been class action law suits on the filter but I haven't read into details on it. You may want to read up on it. Thanks for watching and the suggestion. I like the idea of some type of filter for sure.

Another great video I want to see how you organize for a trip, finally took my MBS down south for the first time for a 5 day get away, still in the process of modifying storage and other areas, my RV is almost identical to yours except I have the theatre seating instead of dinette set up, I guess seniors need more comfort, I can say we both have a lot similar ideas, my wife keep complaining about how small the counter space, she would kill to have the View’s counter layout, I just boil my water instead of using bottle water to use due to the major lack of storage and weight, (and not to use up the very limited CCC of less than 800lbs) I use a lot of clear storage bins to keep things from falling out and the look is good and see what is inside, I do measure every location in order to get the maximum size it can take, just buy once so I will not have to keep changing trays, while my wife does her shopping for food and clothes etc, I am the one looking for RV staff, this is a forever on going process, the ladder is the first thing I got rid of due to the BOAT ANCHOR weight, I also remove the top bunk mattress as I need more weight reduction and use that space for storage instead(no kids or grand kids camping with us) enough say will save some for next time when you put out more videos, thanks again.

Yes its a never ending quest for new ideas and make any RV more comfortable. We set up the RV so it can be used similar to home even when we don't have hook ups. The manufacturers really need to work on getting us better OCCC.

All the mods, from the screen “door” to starlink, are all really cool and very practical We’ve never used a rv before but are looking into it now. Hoping to get a rv like this one then maybe follow your instructions to get some of the mods done if possible … or just hope to buy yours one day when you’re ready to move on to a different one ? !!😅

Great video as usual, noticed you had some reflectix in the kitchen counter side overhead cabinets....why just those two? I have the same type step stool (black color) and stored in same location (need something to get on to see crap in the cabinet behind the TV). I hope we can meet up one day on the road, looks like you eat well when you travel!! In Georgia right now, I have our fridge on 4 (34 to 38 degrees) and freezer on 5 (-3 to 2 degrees)....Thanks for all the ideas!! Craig B.
@rvlifediy
@rvlifediy 2 жыл бұрын
You are too Observant lol. I'm doing a series of testing on reflectix vs closed cell foam. The one in the left cabinet is closed cell foam, and the one on the right is reflectix that everyone typically uses. I usually go through a series of testing for long durations before I post anything worth doing or not. So far, the closed cell foam is the winner by a slight margin (didn't do a cost comparison though). We definitely eat good on the road, and yes if our paths cross, we should definitely meet up.

@@rvlifediy I am an engineer, so attention to detail and organization are key things in my world...lol; I used reflectix and made some window panels for all my coach windows to help with heat here in Georgia...did not run any test but I know it helps the AC in the coach.

Berkey Water filter and attach it somewhere!
@rvlifediy
@rvlifediy 2 жыл бұрын
Have a Berkey, but the water in many parts of the Southwest USA does not taste good. The Berkey will make it safe to drink, but doesn't do anything to filter out the bad taste. All the van life folks seem to love it though, but never mention the taste. Maybe I need to filter it after the Berkey with a good carbon filter to remove any taste.

How do you hold the temperature gauge to the refrigerator? I assume your refrigerator is stainless steel so magnets shouldn't hold to it.
@rvlifediy
@rvlifediy Жыл бұрын
The temp gauge does have magnets on the back and the door is magnetic either though it looks like a satin stainless steel. I put tape over all the magnets so it doesn't scratch the door if you ever move the temp gauge.

We used an under sink water filtration (double) with a faucet, strictly for drinking water. We sanitize our fresh water tank and then we're happy with the double filtration. It doesn't take up too much room, don't forget to take the filters out and winterize! Also using food grade Hydrogen Peroxide for sanitizing - see Google for directions.
@rvlifediy
@rvlifediy Жыл бұрын
I think you are right. That seems to be the best solution to have a good quality water filter system set in place instead of lugging around extra Bottled. Thankfully I never have to winterize where I live and can camp year round. Thanks for the suggestion.

@@rvlifediy I am really enjoying your channel. We travel with a lot of food.. As you mentioned it can get ruined. Not sure what to do. Do you have any insight on Navion in the cold weather? We purchased a 2022 Navion 24D. We are in Ohio and have it plugged in ready to leave Saturday for FL. The temperature got down to 32 outside and we had the thermostat set to 65. Well I guess the propane heat kicked on but never shutoff. I walked in and thermostat read 99, while set at 65. I am assuming its a bad thermostat? What do you think? We also just added 31-100 amp lithium batteries. I don't know if that had anything to do with this problem.

@@wander4evr814 for the fridge, the cold spot in the back can freeze food and thats why I installed the soda dispenser as a barrier. Ever since, the fan is unnecessary. I've camped in 15 degree weather but my rv has been modified to handle the cold. If you are in 30 degree weather and it warms up during the day, it's not an issue. Long extended cold below 25 degrees may be a problem. The wet bay is most vulnerable and you can keep an old style 60 watt light bulb with a treble light to keep it warm but you need to get 110 power in there somehow. It's a little involved for cold weather camping that I can't give a simple answer. For the thermostat, I need more info. Typically it goes to 99 when power was cut from it as in 12 volt power was lost. Did the heat shut off or did it never shut off?
