Those Winston Cup show cars had some really cool paint schemes over the years. I'd love to see one of the older teams in the Cup Series use a few of them for Throwback Weekend at Darlington. The name Winston couldn't be on it but everyone would know its origin and history.

I've always admired how Phil Parsons mentions and celebrates Benny's career and life every chance he gets. He helps keep BP in our hearts. Will Spencer is an amazing man and it's very sad to see this man's dream come to an end like this, but at least it should live on in digital form, gone but not forgotten. As connected and active in NASCAR that Dale Jr. is, there is absolutely NO WAY he isn't aware of what's happening (happened) here. I wish he would bring Will Spencer on a future episode of the DJD, or hell, have him co-host, he's a perfect NASCAR historian.

This is such a sad thing. Hate to see this museum close the doors. I went the other week and glad that I got to see this piece of history before it's gone. Nice review. Enjoyed your video so much! Thanks for posting.

Moving Nascar beyond the South definitely made it grow but at what cost. We lost a lot of tracks in the South so California Texas Chicago etc could get more races. In a lot of ways Nascar forgot its roots. I always go to the Southern 500 every year. If they ever take Darlington off the schedule I'm done!

California is gone and Texas has its days numbered. Chicago is a motorsport city though. Not like in the South, but it carries a lot of the excitement that Indy brought to the midwest

So I have a question… what really happened to this Winston Cup Museum? I realize that it’s closing down and the cars are going to be auctioned off, but what was the real demise of the place? Property sold out from under them? Licensing issues? Attendance lacking? I’m just curious how the NASCAR community could let this place slip away.

Imperial Tobacco Group is who bought the Winston brand from RJR and they felt like they owned the name even though Mr. Spencer is the legal owner of the Winston Cup name as per filing with the US Patent office

@@tennesseesmoky9012 Nope. Tobacco sponsorship is not legal in the US and ITG is owned by the British anyhow
