Thanks Jon, this is a cool piece of kit. I think i will use the grill and stove for cooking, and the kettle for boiling water. Although cooking eggs up top and boiling water for coffee, would be cool. :) Take care man.

The Ghillie Kettles are great for certain things. I sure like mine. I also bought a twig stove accessory by Kelly Kettle that fits on the Ghillie kettle. It enables the Ghillie Kettle base to be more efficient as a twig stove.

Thank you Lonnie, i didnt knopw about the accessory, i have used the bottom base as a twig stove, and it worked great, i just used the grats that i have. Ok, when you spoke on the phone that is not what I was thinking I thought you meant you could use the kettle or pot on it, not at the same time that is very cool Love that coffee water and meal cooking at the same time very cool.

Nice Demo! Ghillie kettle is made in England. Kelly Kettle is made in Ireland. They were originally made for fisherman who wanted something hot to eat or drink while out fly fishing. They are fantastic companions while abroad in the field fishing, camping, bushcrafing or roadside excursions. However they are also a little bulky for backpacking but a nice edition to any prepper person. Cheers 🍻

These are pretty cool and glad to be your First :) . They are a very fast boil, that is one of the best pros on these. The con, is their large, but that is not a problem at a campsite or a hike in the bush to eat a meal for me lol. All the best.

Good show I have a Kelly kettle scout in stainless steel. it is heavy and bulky it’s ok but i don’t use it much thanks

These have their place but it is something best for a basecamp or camping weekend , so on. I will use mine off and on, it will see lots of adventures over the years i believe. ATB.

There is no international agreement on how big a "cup" is. A cup can easily range from 200ml to 300ml. In USA and Canada our "cup" is generally 240ml (but if you ask Google it is 236.6), so 1000ml is ~40ml more than 4 cups which is really not worth the worry when talking a liter or two. 1 liter/1000ml is a good volume of water to boil up. My tea cup I take on hikes is 500ml and a instant noodle soup takes another 250ml easy and there is always the last splash needed to clean up after.

Why can't you use the kettle without water in it and just cook on top? What difference does it make?

It will burn thru without water in it. If you don't want the hot water you cook with the base stove part and remove the kettle.
