I own a 2010 Commander and I removed the 2nd row seats and layed down 3rd row seats, built a plywood platform to sleep on and I use a small solar power station and plug in a small electric heater and I stay warm even in the winter in Colorado!!

That sounds awesome! Unfortunately, I still use the Commander on trips with our three kids so the back two rows will have to stay for now. I may invest in a rooftop tent in the spring though!

Liked and subscribed. Too funny! My wife and I drove to and camped at Yellowstone National Park last month and while I was setting up the tent, she cooked sausage, peppers, and onions and brought along some nice big rolls and also cooked creamy linguini. Since I bought a Subaru Forester, we're now visiting national parks and camping out together. 🙂 I like that you're getting out there, and I watched your first overlander vid and your daughter absolutely cracked me up. She is extremely bright and articulate, and has a wonderful, positive attitude toward camping out with her dad despite the air mattress disappointment. 🙂But, that's great - you're making some wonderful memories for both you and her! Keep up the great job, dad!

Thank you! We’ve had a great time going out in the Jeep, backpacking and even doing some shorter bike packing trips. It’s great getting them out there when they’re younger. It sounds like you’re having some great adventures yourself! Yellowstone is on our short list as well.

If you had water annelid those sausages would have cooked a lot quicker and so would have the green onions in the peppers I'm less of a mess all over

I had considered adding a bit of water to the skillet as they were cooking. Unfortunately, my fire kept dying constantly, not sure how well the water would have boiled off.

Which tarp are you using?

I've been using a fairly affordable tarp from Walmart. This has held up great in quite a few heavy storms. I added another set of poles that I use occasionally for more options depending on location. www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-Multi-Purpose-Tarp-Shelter-12-x-12-with-Steel-Poles/780775658?from=/search
