You did mention skirting wrap, there is a product called air skirts. These are air bags designed with your rv in mind, they fit under your rig no matter what the under slope in like, you just adjust the amount of air in each bag.

Here's another idea to stay warm. An electric blanket is ok but it looses at lot of heat because its on top of you. An electric heated mattress pad with individual temp controls does a much better job and after you put it on the mattress you don't have to deal with folding it, etc. We have one in the sticks and bricks and in the 5th wheel. Lots of choices on Amazon.

We also find ourself going north during winter for some reasons. Probably because the contracts pay a little more. lol. Anyways, an electric heated mattress pad with individual temp controls is amazing. We also find keeping reflectix on windows year long helps with not on cold during winter but helps with keeping cool during the summer. You would be surprised. I now have the philosophy: If I want to see nature, I go outside. My windows are staying reflectixed up.

Hi folks! Thanks for the videos & cold weather RV hints. To return the favor, a winter hint for you two regarding the water hydrant. You probably already know this, but just in case; freeze-proof hydrants can themselves freeze. As you know, the valve for the hydrant, with its drain port, is located well below the frost / freeze depth. A rod that is inside the riser pipe operates it when the handle is manipulated. However, in order for the valve, riser pipe & control lever to drain and not freeze, air must be let in to the top of the hydrant to allow the water to escape out the drain port. In addition to the hose, I suggest you also disconnect & bring in your pressure regulator & header assembly. Doing so will keep your regulator from being damaged AND prevent freeze damage to the hydrant itself. If the hydrant is properly draining after each use, you should hear a gurgling sound as air fills the riser & water is allowed to escape when you push the lever down (turn off). In addition, there will be a slight delay before water comes out the faucet when the lever is pulled up (turned on) as the water first refills the pipe riser. Anyhow, enough of my blathering. Safe travels, thanks again & Merry Christmas. God bless, Dennis

I agree about mirrors! Thankfully our bedroom mirrors are smaller than yours. Plus my husband is on the mirror side. I'd replace it with nice wood. I'm definitely not a cold weather camper...especially since I didn't bring my parka! Last April in southern Alberta it was COLD in the provincial park we were staying at so I wore 4 layers & long johns. We'll be going into cold weather as we have to be back in Canada April 1 and in order to do that we either go from Yuma to the Dakotas or up California, Oregon & Washington. It'll be the latter as temperatures shouldn't be too bad in February/March. Brrr! We are in the desert and it does get cold at night, and it isn't relative cold, it is downright cold! It got down to 1C!

Surprised the mirror was not require to be tempered .. I think that would have been a good time to replace the mirror glass with a finish wood panel in the frame ..

I’m leaving tomorrow once the pass is cleared and heading east and south to Chicago, then I’m going full south. I’m leaving my water heater running the entire time it’s below freezing. I have a rechargeable hot water bottle and a heated blanket and two dogs, so I may be too warm. I have put up an insulated blackout curtain across the back of the cab (class C). The newer version of my rig that they sell in Canada has better insulation and double pane windows, which would be on my wish list

My wife and I are one of the weird ones; we prefer to stay in colder climates most of the year, only going down to Florida and NC in Feb/March and then back out west for the rest of the year. It's fun, and it definitely keeps enough propane. Some places will not fill up with propane if it's under 28 degrees. So far in Eastern Colorado, we've had about 40" of snow this season with one massive 35.5" snow bomb on us, which was terrific. People think we are nuts since we are over 50, and both grew up in warmer climates. But personally being in Florida for 30 years and Georgia 18 years, I'm done with it being hot all the time.

I think we have stayed in that exact spot at Lady Bird. #59? Very nice park, golf course and close to town. Wife and I did the split mattresses at home a few years ago. A must, between the different firmness and waking each other up all night we had to do something. She made us separate quilts too so now we both sleep a lot better. Plan to do the same when we go "a lot of the time" after she retires in a year and half. Funny side note. We got the beds that sense if you are snoring and raise your head. Her side was sensing me snoring and she would wake up sitting straight up! lol

We have multiple Provincial Parks just within an hours drive of our house (Muskoka ON, CAN) where you can do some REAL winter Camping. A little over a week ago, one of the towns just south of use got 5 FEET (Yes, Feet of snow). We only got 2. This weekend the temperature is going down to -17C which is almost 0F. I drove into one of the parks last week and there were several trailers there. Enjoy your Winter Camping! I have a question about your Class A. My wife and I are considering going back to RVing. We have owned two RVs. A toy hauler and a Class A gas Motor home. We moved to Aurora CO, in 2019 and thought we needed to sell the motor home and buy a house. Big mistake. We liked the motor home, but I hated the gas motor. So my question for you is, have you had any issues with getting work done on your diesel pusher. We have heard that finding a mechanic that will work on a diesel pusher because of access to the engine difficult. I did enjoy your Navy vs Army game video, I am a retired Marine.

Have y'all opened the areas where there are water pipes and wrapped/foamed insulation around them or is it 100% (everywhere) wrapped at the factory?
@todayissomeday13 күн бұрын
Most RVs are not built for winter camping so they are not wrapped from the factory. There are RV models available that are rated for freezing temps with better insulation but not many.
@arthurcutting9227Ай бұрын
If you're not in the snow you're not winter camping. Poor RV antifreeze down the toilet and drain after you flush the tank and close the valves. Helps keep the valves free. Install an extended a stay on your propane tank and run on a bbq 20lb bottle so you don't have to move the RV to fill up the main tank. Put a small heater in the wet bay to keep the area warm and store the sewer hose there. If you leave it out it won't fold up when it's frozen. This is the most important thing, don't let the black tank or black water freeze, just trust me 😮
