This versatility is one of the main reasons why it’s so special. No matter if the type r is nicer, more roomie, etc etc. real ppl will encounter conditions like this, more so than a dry track or perfect conditions….where the type R excels.

I grew up in Northern New York where I learned to slide completely across town with my dad's rear drive FIAT 131S Mirafiori - no need to fear sliding when you are doing it all the time :-) Cars have changed so much since the 1980s

It would be in the interest of public safety. But how can they generate revenue from it? That's all the gov cares about. Not public safety.

Hi, from Japan!! You love the car much more than before after you drove it on snow. That means the car is built as a very good rally car. Toyota has been making an effort in WRC long time so they know how to make a good one. Oh, by the way, I’ve heard Mitsubishi will make next Evo. I hope you will try it in this channel as always.

My first winter with my GR Corolla and we got about 5 inches of snow in Minnesota. So sad I didn’t get to send it like this. Even got a set of winter tires for it. Great video, guys.

As a Canadian who lives on the east coast and drives in conditions like this for about 6-8 months of the year, this looks like a fun time and it feels so foreign that some people live in areas that they don’t need winter tires

Years back I took a car control course at our local racetrack during the winter, and during the skidpad training it was nearly impossible to get my car (2015 Forester XT) due to the winter tires I had on it. The instructors really made a point on having the right tire for the conditions, and they were very happy to see I was rocking the Blizzaks.

4wd drive means that if your tires have traction, you can get around. If your tires don't have traction, it's not magic. I still remember one icy morning on the Boulder Turnpike in my GTI. I was OK, but had the chance to see a 4wd pickup going the other direction do a 90 degree spin into the center barrier, with the contact setting off two 360s.

Reminds me of the 60's and 70's when I was teaching my sisters to drive. First good snow we'd to the biggest parking lot we could find and I would make them skid and slide and explain how what to do. Of course this was all with rear wheel drive cars. Imagine my surprise when things like VSC and antilock brakes came along. and took a lot of the fun out of it but made it so much safer in slippery conditions. One thing to note is that all the electronic nannies work so much better with good winter tires. On my FJ Cruiser I put studded Nokians and couldn't believe what it could do. The previous winter I tried making it through winter on new AT tires and it was a terror . Spent all winter in 4Hi. After I got the winter tires, I only use 4Hi during bad storms when you needed it to get going. I have all weather tires and would never say they are even close to winter tires on ice and specially slush over ice. I use those mostly for late fall hunting for combinations of mud and snow.. They're really good for that but once the snow has arrived for good it's time for the Nokians.

Winter tires are essential. In some places in the world, they make it mandatory by law to have winter tires on owned vehicles during winter time. Those who fail to comply get a hefty fine. I got my winter tires on my Corolla IM, which I bought not too long ago (love it). Wish I could get the GR but too late now and didn't have the money XD

I can buy anything i desire. I wanted a circuit edition. I was told 10k over. I bought a JCW fully loaded mini, ordered exactly. The Corolla and Golf. R have horrible ground clearance for the snow. If they made them ride height adjustable, id pay 10k over. My comments sound odd, but i probably am the only one commenting who really uses their sports cars in all conditions. (Even my Boxster T has winter performance tires)
