Great point to touch on the baitfish look for the jig, sometimes your bait needs to imitate both craws and minnows till you figure out what works best. Great stuff Matt.YOU GUYS ROCK.

I think they think a black/chartreuse jig with a chartreuse beaver is a black crappie. When I get around crappie in the grass I slam the largemouth on it. The Beaver or Rodent in Summer Craw is killer to,especially flipping in clear water. They see it really good in the grass and it does look like a fat little shad in the water even if it does look like its glowing.

Been fishing 37 degree water and the jig is still being crushed. Hard to find open water tho. Awesome tips also. Brown jigs are my go to during winter.

Okay, I have a goofy question. I live in Orlando, FL on a lake and I've never seen a crayfish on it. There are tons of shad, bluegill, crappie, spots and largemouth bass. Do you have a guess on whether there are crayfish on it or not? Thanks again for the great video.
@tacticalbassin7 жыл бұрын
As a rule of thumb, there are crawfish everywhere. There may be rare exceptions but usually they're there whether you see them or not.

hi mat Robert again need help in my winter bass fishing my mareina in fall I haven't caught any fish yet this fall what's the transition period now no boats and no grass and weeds and my lake was loward 2' for winter any baits recommended for this time of year van I still use swimbaits to catch bass I'm tired of pickerel thanks Robert
@tacticalbassin7 жыл бұрын
You can definitely still throw swimbaits. The colder the water gets the more likely they want that giant meal.

Hey Matt, I have lost several fish on the EWG hook football jig. Should I be using a sweep style hook set with these? What do you prefer?
@tacticalbassin9 жыл бұрын
steve4321able I hit them HARD, no matter which hook but personally I like a roundbend rather than an EWG style

Hey Matt what size line do you use for jigs during the winter?
@tacticalbassin9 жыл бұрын
Keaton Greenawald I use 50-65 lb braided mainline with a 12-25 lb leader depending on application.
@jccullen64088 жыл бұрын
+tacticalbassin do you like a mono leader over fluro Matt? I'm getting tired of breaking fluro! Thinking of switching to braid & mono leader

Hey Matt what fishing rod do you recommend for jigs up to1oz.
@tacticalbassin9 жыл бұрын

What would be your go to baits in stained 50 degree water?
@tacticalbassin7 жыл бұрын
That's ideal conditions for EVERYTHING! Spinnerbait, chatterbait, jig, worm, swimbait, crankbait, the list goes on and on.

What's up Matt so I have been fishing big jigs like you've said an only taken a box of jigs you know different colors an sizes an I've had bare minimum success....I've gone fast slow used scents an rattles spinners trailer no trailer...what gives??? I'm tryna be patient with it but it's been about 2 years now nothing better than 2lbs... clueless bro
@tacticalbassin6 жыл бұрын
Hmmm sounds like you need to streamline it just a bit. If I could only have 1 in the winter it would be a 1/2 ounce football head with a double tail Yamamoto double tail grub trailer. If you stick to that it should definitely work!
