Here in the US when we do winter sowing we use enclosed containers and there is usually always moss growing in them , it doesn't hurt the seedlings Once they get planted out in Spring the moss dies , been doing it for 10 yrs now
@perennial-garden6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the pep talk! We aren’t strangers to moss on our seedlings either… but we did want to make sure we showed it - since nothing is ever “perfect” when dealing with gardening 🥰

Ha ha, I love the moss. We don’t get much of it here in Sydney. Looks like life and excitement have left hibernation and surging ahead. I so much enjoy your garden. It’s a comfort here in the air conditioning

In the air conditioning 😅 as we're here still bundled up like it's winter. Things are moving ahead here... despite the cold temperatures still hanging around. Hard to believe how quickly things are going to start going in just a few more weeks. 🥰

Great stuff! I love that you've taken us through your spring clean process. I've had so much clean up to do as well and not really that much time for anything else... like starting seeds. I need to get on it. BTW: I can't wait to see all those tulip sprouts in full bloom. It won't be long!🌷
@perennial-garden6 ай бұрын
We can't either! It's actually a mix named after Lars (from our favorite garden supplier here in Denmark - Blomsterverden). So we're looking forward to seeing what they actually look like. (hope like the package ;) )

Allen, Lars I love it.. isn't it pure PLEASURE how you look at a little tray of dirt and some weed seedlings 🌱 growing in there... and you already know what they are gonna look like in your imagination in a few months. For me,It's a joy as much as an illusion at that point. I'm skeptical.. I'm never sure unless I see the flowering season in my own eyes 😂❤🌷🌷🤩🌷🌷 Mm

Just came across your channel and will need to subscribe (the Brave Little Toaster reference did it). We may grow in a similar zone (Minnesota 4b-5), as my bulbs and sedum are at the same stage of growth. It's always so exciting to see the garden wake up. My winter sowing jugs aren't showing any signs of germination yet, but it won't be long now!
@perennial-garden6 ай бұрын
Thanks for subscribing, Mary! And thanks for watching :) Our outside winter-sown things (we also used a jug and even a bed roller) aren't coming up yet either -- only the greenhouse stuff. Hope your garden wakes up soon, too... it shouldn't be that much longer here 🥰

pls don't forget to show us how you divide all the grown seeds/small plants to let them grow further as one plant/pot, I would love to see as well where you place them as the garden looks full already :) (same problem here)

We sure will! Thanks for being interested :) We won't put all of these in our garden for sure... most of these will go to sell at local farmers' markets and things like that. But we will show what comes after this stage :)

Remember the 28 Japanese maples I had planted out on my balcony? Only ONE came up (so far)!!!! 😂Glad I planted 28, this could have been the 28th one!!!! 🤣There is still time, maybe the others will also sprout, but I just thought that was funny. : )

Another great video! Wish it was longer. Lars excitement for the plants coming out is so contagious! I can totally relate!! All the treasures that are popping up. I have some sedums; I going to take his advice and split them to get more. I could watch him cut everything back and take cuttings all day. It's so exciting. I hope you'll keep us updated. And make these videos longer!! There's so much to talk about in your garden. oh and I'm glad you guys got rid of the trampoline, lol! Thanks for sharing your video with us!

@@perennial-garden oh I would certainly watch you guys cutting back. It helps understand what is safe to cut back and how far down one can go. I'm assuming he saves the seeds once he cuts back?

@@madelinerivera7445 We save seeds in the autumn, yes. Now, it's just about cleaning up for spring. Whatever seeds are still there may either be too far gone or they're already all over the ground.

What is that interesting tree in the pot behind Lars in that last clip? I've never seen a tree like that before.
@perennial-garden6 ай бұрын
It's a eucalyptus -- not sure of the exact variety, etc. We bought it at the supermarket years ago as an inside plant. Then it almost died! We planted it in the greenhouse as a final chance for the poor thing... and it survived! So that summer we planted it out in the garden and it's done so well. I guess all it needed was some fresh air. I can totally understand that! haha We had a really bad frost here recently.... so the leaves are looking a little tired, but we hope it'll come back as it has before.
@brocktoon86 ай бұрын
