He's also humble man, thats why we like him! Learning about that lifestyle is entertaining but also IMO a need as times are looking rough. I'm 4 months out from doing the van life myself here in CO, prepped the supplies and van upgrades over a 3 year time span! Foresty, temps here suck but nothing like Canada. I like your style and love your van and am very happy you were able to move into that bad boy, I cant imagine the thrill you had the first week!

In the UK, with a central heating setup (gas boiler), the air intake is an inner pipe that is surrounded by a larger outer exhaust pipe. Basically air is drawn in and pre-heated by the exhaust gas - simple heat exchanger. You could try constructing or "welding" a simple exhaust heat exchanger.

Re reducing... Sure you can get warmer air by doing that, but currently your heater is drawing warmer air down and under the bed and keeping it drier and ventilated. If you reduct then that area will become colder and stagnant... condensation. Be well. Great channel.

Definitely not a poor video. Here in Australia it's hard to get my head around the temperatures that you live and adventure in. Love the effort that you put into your videos.

Great content and highly entertaining! What most viewers don't see is the actual effort that goes into making each and every video. Setting up the camera somewhere, walk away from it or drive the van past it, stop, go back, collect the camera again, repeat. Thanks for allowing us to be part of this. And BTW: Good to hear that "Crappy Tire" is still a term being used as it was 40 years ago when I worked there. 😄

Don't put the intake inside, cold air has more oxigen then hot air. It should burn better with cold air. Also never connect a pipe that goes to the combustion chamber, to the inside of your van. You never know what could happen wile you sleep. If the heater fan stops working, fumes come out of the intake
@carlacowling1789
@carlacowling1789 3 жыл бұрын
I worried about that too. There's surely a safety reason why you're supposed to vent fresh air in!
@jeremywylie2936

The diesel heaters have a in and exhaust out for the burn chamber. They are through his floor to outside. They also have a intake air in and heated air out. Air in at one end of plastic case. Heat out the other. The two parts are not connected in any way. So having it recirculate in and out of main is better them sucking cooler air from under bed

@frspp 3 жыл бұрын
Yup I think there should anyways be a fresh air intake as companion for roof fan which is exhaust. Fresh air intake through the heater when it is off must be quite little. Anyways interesting find that the output is same no matter if it taking cold air out or recirculating inside air. Heater must use more fuel and power to make cold air warm.

You need a Dutch oven to cook in over the fire. We used them all the time when I was a Scout, and my favorite meal in it was Chuck Wagon Casserole: ground beef, peppers, onions, canned corn, mix with BBQ sauce, and then you pour cornbread mix over the top and bake.

Colorado is increasingly becoming a disaster. Drought, fires, pollution, overcrowding, overdevelopment, bums and social strife are ruining the state. I would sell now and move to a much more pristine, safe and cheap place like the Black Hills.
