I don't know, but I think something different happened between 2000 and 2010, the songs written at that time seem to have something that the modern era doesn't have. It could just be nostalgia for the teenage years, but there was a common aesthetic at that time... Generally, when I find a "new" band from that time, the sound, both the mix and the melody, has a greater chance of pleasing me.

@@presskeytoplay I started listening to metal I believe in 2012, however for a first few years then it was just a several bands. I started exploring more of the genre fairly recently (let's say in 2017), so I do not have any nostalgic connection to the early 2000. And having it made clear, I must say that this 2000-2010 metal has something more to it than the current one. It was a bit simpler, more melodic. I've noticed that the bands nowadays use a lot of complex but dull chord progressions. Funnily enough, Time II will be a very interesting release, partially because is was written way back then

When i heard Jari in an interview talking about Commodore 64, i felt like we went to a similar path in music discovery. I've always always admire when a video game delivers good music, like so many JRPG. Well, that's also the main reason why i started to love metal music, it's the closest in all music genre, that brings me back to the child that was listening to all that great video games music, starting with my Commodore 64 when i was 3-4 years old, like Jet Power Jack.
