You make this craft look so easy....I just got a number of kits(9) in the last month and have not started on any of them as I am watching everyones videos to see what problems I might encounter before I start. I am glad there is no rush to try and get these things done. I do have a minor concern that I haven't seen addressed(much), I have a cat that adores me and wants to be close to me most of the time but I'm afraid she might start stepping on the artwork or noseing the diamonds around. O'well I guess I just have to take the plunge and see how things go. Thank you for your videos. BTW I am a male and have not see any other male you tubers doing Diamond Painting, do you consider this a female only craft or am I just not finding any other males doing this?

I just want you to know that I think it’s awesome that you had a reason to celebrate Fathers Day and the fact that both kids finished on a high note. As a mom with a child that had a mild form of Autism, but grown still has some quirks. Each milestone is a prize and you’re doing great as a mom. I’m glad you are on the mend as well, the summer sickness has always been the worst for me. Diamond painting is a release for me , you and DAC are highlights each week for me. I’m so glad dinner went well! I always find myself saying awww when you talk about being worried about bothering other people when you go out. The majority of people wouldn’t bat an eye at a kiddo who might struggle at a restaurant. Your family has the same right to eat out as the rest of us! ❤❤

Hi Katie! Glad to hear that y'all had a great Father's Day outing. My family did as well as we visted our son, 2 yr old grandson and our Daughter in Law. It was a weekend of celebration and fun.🎉 Thanks for showing the new pen and tray and giving your honest opinion. Honestly, I think we all should be thankful for the upgrades DAC is making & have made. I have not personally recieved my new kits yet but it looks like they have done an outstanding job trying to give a more comprehensive, waste effective solution to beginning & seasonded Diamond Painters. I'm actually doing a Starry Night by Van Gogh through DD that I purchased at JoAnn's and I will say the Drills were full of static when I kitted up. I just have been using the dryer sheets & pushing through. I'm currently at my 9-5 job listening and watching this video. Love your channel & content.🌼🏵

How does the new pen handle AB drills? We've been watching DS9 a bit, too, though mostly just jumping around to whatever episodes we feel like watching. I managed to break a finger on my dominant hand so working on anything has slowed down drastically for me. I'm *almost* done with Sitara from DAC. I might be able to finish in another couple of days. I hope! 🌺

🌸 I’m glad you had a good family dinner out for Father’s Day! I know how stressful that can be with littles. I really want BJs now! It’s been awhile since I’ve been there. I like your idea of different colored pens and trays. I don’t know if that’s practical for DAC, but it would be fun to see what we’d get each time and collect them.

I am totally with you on the logging my DP times and on the wax & putty debate. I only put a guess start/stop into my DP logs, but I am trying to get better, because I want to sell my finished projects. I also like wax in the single placer, and putty in the multi-placer, but I don't use the big ones like you do. My sweet spot is the 5 or 8 placers. I like to use my single placer for adjustment, so I don't think the putty is the best for that side. Great video! Can't wait to see you doing more! Have a terrific summer! 🌺🌸💮🌺

Thanks for the review on the new tools. I just received my first kit with the new tools so I haven't dug into it yet. Working on "Zodiac" from Distracted by Diamonds for Summer With the Masters - hope to finish that within the next week or so.

The only concern I had with these new pens was they were going to be too hard to grip I have really bad tendonitis in my wrist but watching your video and seeing how you're holding it makes me more I'm willing to try them out

Hi Katie! So glad you were able to go out to a restaurant with your boys! I DO use the cover minders and the washi tape, although how many cover minders do you need? Ans Washi tape inexpensive and fun to buy. Its 90s in central Ohio, and even with the air on my putty is getting sticky. Happy week!❤️💐🌼

Omg Katie you've gotten me hooked on the Jenny Nicholson videos! When I first started watching the Star Wars hotel video, I thought there's no way I can listen to this girl ramble for 4 hours. 🌺I wip’ed along with a paint gem set since I’m traveling. Hubby and I flew to N Cal for redwoods and a bit of San Fran. Our boys are in a camp where they both went to daycare which is helpful for both of us working parents. Enjoyed our time together Katie!

I just started on Star Trek the 1968 version. Just finished episode 1. Omg! When I saw THE William Shatner as a spry ginger headed boy of maybe like mid 20s I was like😮 the whole episode.😂. Thanks Katie, fortunately Star Trek Original was available on New Zealand Netflix. Unfortunately, there are only 3 seasons up. I don't know how many seasons the original has, but I'll be definitely researching it. Thank you for the suggestions!❤

Personally would like to see the tool kits as a separate purchase. Let's face it, most DAC customers don't need the kits. Even people like me who use the basic tools don't a new tool kit with each kit.

I really enjoyed this video. I have a kit coming on the 22nd for my first new kit. I can’t wait to try the new putty pen. I say during the summer, be resident tourists lol go check out the places you might see tourists go lol Sight see and explore as if you were there for the first time, I think you would be surprised at the fun ways to learn different things in your area. I used to live in the next town over from Salem MA. and we started going there to see different things and go different areas it was a blast. Just an Idea.

This summer isn't too exciting. The highlight is going to be my niece coming for a month in mid-July to mid-August! We'll be celebrating her high school graduation, my belated birthday, and my Mom's birthday. There's no defined plans, just go as we want to this summer.

I am also looking at various mini kits to do for Christmas presents. I think I will like the new tool kit. I am a high school teacher out for the summer but no summer plans. I kind of like it like that. My children are grown so I am out of the phase where I had to plan activities 🪷

I only track my kits with a start date and then finish date. I never track the amount of hours I spend actually diamond painting bc I'm scared it will shock me. Haha! I have gotten a kit with the new tool kit I just haven't opened it yet. I'm waiting until I actually decide to DO that kit. So far I like what I see though! Definitely needs more colored pens and trays. Thanks for another great video!

I got a DAC last week that had the "new" toolkit (no minder, but I don't use them so that's okay) with the new pen. I tried using it and I like the idea of pre-filled putty (I use putty for everything, even before it became "popular"), but my opinion on the pen is TBD. I don't know if it's the position I'm used to using, but I find the tip to be larger and harder to place drills/diamonds in between other diamonds. I also tend to use a multiplacer **much** more often and like my "ergo" pens better because I can just flip them around to switch between single/multi. I know the DAC pen has a slot for a multiplacer on the other end, but my metal multis don't really fit well (and can't really use the washi trick). So... I like the idea of it, but it's just not a "go to" for me.

Oh gosh, I hope I can help! Do you mean how to physically organize your stash, or how to keep track of what you have? I use labels on the end of my boxes and stack them on shelves by company, and then I use GemsFlow to track what I have digitally!

I ordered this kit from Michaels because the store here is new but it doesnt carry any of the good stuff when it come to diamond painting. Its so cute and I hung it on a wall in my craft room. I dont think I could ever do the one that Rachel is doing. The confetti would take me out. As far as the upgrades video you just did....of course seasoned diamond painters would want to watch. Well I did for sure. I do look at the dates of videos like that but I watch both because I want to see what has changed over time. I love these types of videos. It also helps keep me up on what I may want to change that I really havent given much thought to. In my opinion its very helpful. Also you dont have to space out unboxings for me! Bring it on! I love being able to see the kits unboxed. Alot of times that is what makes me go ahead and buy. Im also glad you are feeling better! 🌻🌹🌺

Have you gone to Wolf Lodge? It has to be right around the corner for you! We went the very first year it opened and had lots of fun, but I heard that they now allow the public to access the water park section and it has gotten more crowded. When the weather warms up, you can't beat lots of flowing water.💦💦💦

Gonna be a very hot scorching summer .. I live in Virginia and we usually get low 90's but , with Elnino collapse it's gonna be miserable for a lot of states .. Happy 14th Anniversary .. I haven't started any canvases still doing treatments .. Want start my 1st DP ever can't wait I've had it for awhile thought I'd be done with treatments but , they had other ideas .. One of your unboxing videos that showed the cover minder and the washi tape was the only reason I tried DAC in the first place (and kept getting more, and more 😅) so I’m honestly kind of sad 😔 but! I do want to get my hands on one of the pens 😂 The new perforated covers aren’t terrible but I like choosing my own section sizes.

I just received the new DAC kit today and tried it on my WIP this afternoon. Thought I'd share my feedback. Note... I usually use the current little white DAC lid-less trays.... and the thin metal DAC single placer with non-DAC putty. The pen is very light. Since the nib is plastic... I wonder how long it will last. Especially if you use the tip to adjust drills on the canvas. The putty worked really well for me... as long as there is not too much in the tip. The putty did not work well with AB'S. Not sure if it is static or putty... but I had many drills crawling up the tip. Honestly.... I miss my metal DAC tip. But perhaps I just need to get used to the new pen. The tray is wonderful. I love that it's wider. My arthritic thumb is not happy, so people with arthritis might find it difficult to manage. The tray is much thicker and heavier with higher sides. The plastic is very slippery... so if you paint without holding your tray.... mine kept sliding around as I was trying to pick up a drill. The lid slides on easily and stays put. I'm interested in getting more of them to see how well they stack. I'm hoping my hands will adjust to the size and weight. I'm really excited to see what the collectable will be. Yes... i miss the washi and coverminder... but only for the "CrackerJack prize effect". Neither are extremely necessary and can be purchased easily elsewhere. But i did miss the old "Oooh, what extra did I get in this box" high!😂

You should go to the trek show. I live in Las Vegas and I went to the show and I was in awe. You would have a great experience. The first day is so crowded but the third and forth day was much less crowded and there seemed to be more guests.

Not a must must have, but my straight edge tip is very helpful. Occasionally when my hands are a little shaky, or the drill field is a little off, the straight tip helps me realign the drills.

🪷🪷🪷🪷Hi Katie,good morning from Los Angeles County. Love the canvas you are working on. Love Asian Art. Glad you had no problem with your children at BJs. As a child when the whole family went to a nice restaurant, my Dad would theathen me with spanking me until I could not sir. Well, that worked, because I had a habit of walking around the restaurant, screaming and yelling that I didn't like what I ordered. Which meant my Mom took me in the bathroom. As an adult, I got kicked out of Olive Garden in Artesia. I am in my 60s, and I am still not allowed back. I had a really bad fall yesterday. I nearly chipped my two front teeth off. My nose and upper lip are three times their size. My chin has a deep cut. My knees are bruised, and I have totally spasmed my lumbar area of my back. I tripped over a leg of the 1982 coffee table. I think it is funny how all these white women want large lips. Because I am 28% Kenyan I have full lips. Now my upper lip is very large. Yes, go to the Creations Con. I always had fun at these conventions when I was in my 20s and 30s.

I've purchased kits from budget companies - Fansells, Coodeals, Peggybuy and Newcraftday... I love diamond painting but need to save money being on a fixed income.🌸🌻🌼

Hi there! Usually if artwork is licensed, shops will openly advertise the artist’s name for the kit and it won’t be hard to find where they say on their website that their artwork is licensed. Unfortunately, licensed artwork does tend to be more expensive than a lot of budget company price points, and I understand living on a fixed income. All you can do is your best and I’ll never tell anyone how to spend their money. I can tell you that Make Market kits are one of the most budget-friendly licensed options out there! And I do enjoy their quality ☺️

Katie, I hope you can help me. I’m desperate. I just started multiplacing after 3 years of single. I bought putty from Etsy and it was so soft. It’s been hot so I refrigerated it overnight. Perfect!! For a very short time. I can use my multiplayer for about 4-5 pick ups. Then the drills have made a big impression on the putty and I have to scrape it out and start over. Why? The putty also gets very soft. HELP Katie🌹

The putty will get soft depending on the temperature of your surroundings, the heat from your overhead lighting and light box. Try kneading in a little bit of cornstarch in the putty. Just keep working it and adding little bits of cornstarch until you get the stickiness you want. Hope this helps.

Some putty is definitely more susceptible to getting melty and soft in the heat. The best putty option for hot weather I’ve found is Randa’s Crafty Corner, and even that isn’t perfect. I’m very intrigued by the response suggesting adding bits of cornstarch - I may experiment with that with my softer putties that I can’t otherwise use very well!

You wondered if you are a real diamond painter if you haven't done a stary night original. Well I consider myself a true diamond painter and I despise stary night. I also have heard that doing a peacock is a right of passage. Well - I don't like them either. So what am I? I would like to keep track of my hours that I diamond paint. I tried it but b.c I'm on cancer meds and pain meds, I fall asleep without warning and dont' turn the timer off. I work on one project from start to finish, so I am able to count the number of days it takes and that is good enough for me.
