These days the bigger brands are disappointing because even the “higher end” units do not have toslink optical outputs..Joying is a good brand embraced by the “audio freaks” because of optical outputs etc..

I bought a unit from Eonon in 2017 and still have it running now. While I will say when I first installed it I was very happy with it, I have to point out a problem with these devices. As with Android Phones, they also become obsolete and unusable in a short time. After a few years, I guess due to app updates and such, the device became extremely sluggish. Today, I can't even open google maps or waze without the entire thing crashing. You will need to get a new one every 1-2 years if you want to maintain a good experience. Also the hotspot internet is more of a pain in the arse than you made it out to be. It's pretty annoying having to turn your phone's hotspot on every time you get in the car. One more point is that mine did not properly support android auto as it advertised but it was 5 years ago. I hope they have improved

Those are great points. I just leave my hotspot on all the time. But I can understand that with certain phones that might be an issue. Of course I mainly use android auto and Apple CarPlay. So in that regards, the unit shouldn’t slow down as it’s using really the phone and not the head unit. But I completely agree with the android side of it. And that’s always my concern with these units is how long will they last before they slow down. I am sure if you’re a guy that likes to put a lot of apps on it, it’s probably not gonna last as long. As for me, I’m only using it for video. So hopefully that will help negate some of that. But honestly, time will tell.

@@EononOfficial I only ever had 4 or so apps. Google maps, waze, youtube music and soundcloud. I didn't add any more apps over time, the device just got slower. I guess it's probably due to app updates which quickly leave the hardware behind

@@Toid I wouldn't say with certain phones that's an issue, on any phone that will reduce your battery life as well as posing a security risk for your phone. I also wouldn't say that only using car play or android auto will prevent it from slowing over time. I only ever use 2 apps on mine and still see a huge decline in performance. Even just booting to an operational state is slow with only 4 apps installed

@james2749 There's no such thing as an "Android phone" Android is a system developed by Google ( which makes a Google phone ) that is on over 70% of ALL PHONES ACROSS THE WORLD. there are many versions of Android for example no one else in the world except people like me have Android 13 UI system because it was only released to Samsung S22 Ultra users. People have been lying to themselves for years about "Android" Meanwhile it had been proven that Apple IOS system is the most fickle and actually makes its dumb users upgrade phones EVERY YEAR or they slow down the service PURPOSELY!!! The point I'm making it's the device, YOUR connection, and VERSION of said UI that is being used... NOT ANDROID.

Not sure if you can help or not. But i got a Eonon Q53 Pro, looks very similar to the one in the video. I connect my android phone to the radio via Bluetooth and Tlink opens and it connects but then instead of opening android auto it just closes tlink and nothing happens. Its like Android Auto is crashing. Do I need to plug my phone wired first in order for android auto to work properly? Let me know if you know anything or any resolutions to fix this issue, no worries if you cant.

The biggest problem with most Android/Linux large screen head units is that the face isn't separate and a vast majority of vehicles require the head unit to be bolted on behind the factory dash bezel. This isn't usually feasible with the tablet style screen right in the way.

They come with a small speaker for vehicle sounds.You installed it behind head unit. Cover the spealer with electrical tape or put in some sounding proofing.

Dont buy hikity one. It lasted a year but it slowly hooked up to bluetooth and now barely hooks up. And just last week the screen is flickering. Just save ur money and spend it on a good one.

Interestingly enough mine is still in my car and I haven’t had any issues with it whatsoever. It’s possible you just got a bad unit. It’s also possible. I just got a really good unit. But either way I’m sticking to what I’ve said because my experience has still been really great with it.

purchased eonon gma12s-u finally able to get wireless android auto to work but when android auto wireless connected have not been able to get other apps like google or youtube to work shows no data. tried to share data through Bluetooth but does not work when hot spot enabled wifi shuts off and loose android auto. have verizon with galaxy s22 ultra and data sharing through verizon still cant figure it out any ideas?

Hey, great video! I have a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta 1.4T S that I am looking to install a new Apple CarPlay head unit into. Would this fit? I am mainly getting a new head unit to use Apple CarPlay, I just simply want to have a touchscreen head unit that can display my google maps as well as my Spotify, while connecting to the Apple CarPlay wirelessly and not having to plug in my phone everytime. Would you recommend this, or some other head unit? Also, one last question, would this need to be connected to a Wi-Fi source in order for Apple CarPlay to work at all, or no? I do not have hotspot on my phone and was concerned that it would not be able to work without that. Thanks so much!

I’m not sure about specific cars. As long as it fits a double din it should work. But no, you don’t need Wi-Fi or anything for Apple CarPlay. You just need to put a hotspot out if you want to use apps like Netflix.

You typically want to get a vehicle specific wiring harness. That is true with all car stereos not designed specifically for one vehicle. This allows for plug in play once you connect the harnesses together.

Absolute piece of junk. The camera that came with the unit looks to be faulty because I can't get a picture. The unit is wired up correctly but the steering wheel controls don't work. I am getting a signal from the steering wheel but the unit will not recognise it. If I try select a model in factory settings it tells me "app not installed." BUT the BIGGEST letdown is Apple CarPlay. The volume of the native radio is loud enough to be obnoxious but when using CarPlay it is so low as to be useless. I purchased the unit direct from the company. The online "live chat" function always ends up like this "The line is busy right now, please leave your message, we will reply to you asap. Thanks." They do not reply to "support" emails and there is no phone number. My money is lost. Don't loose yours.

Really? Are you sure the cable is hooked up completely? I would try restarting it and see if that works. You might have to pull the positive on your battery cable

Regarding this head unit... -Does it include "Dolby Atmos"? -Can you install apps such as VLC?...or other sound processing apps?...main one I'm thinking of is called "°SOUND° Beautifier" for Android. Audio "Toolchain": VLC w/EQ, "pink-noise'd" to neutral--->°SOUND° Beautifier for studio quality "Compander" capabilities...and you know "SWISS MADE, BABY! YEAH!" 😎👍🏻---> and finally Dolby Atmos for the Audio Atmospherics & "presence". Only 2-channel necessary such as on Samsung products. You can install any app for Android on it. You can side load it as ell if you want to. It does not come with Dolby Atmos though.
