Wisdom from My Mom

I had my folks over for Sunday dinner a week ago and decided to just sit down with my Mom and talk a bit about how parents can cultivate a relationship with their adult children as well as how you handle successfully the transitions of life and its various seasons. I love listening to your mom. There's so much wisdom in your mother. I am the caregiver for my 93 yo mother. She has grands, great grands and great great grands. I know it's a blessing to still have your parents around. I tell my nieces and nephews how blessed they are to still have their great grandmother. I never knew mine.😢

What a wonderful conversation with the generations. I envy the wisdom of the generations and understanding that you need to adapt to the different seasons of life. Great wisdom. We are transitioning now with our youngest just turning 18, then 21 and 24. I’m just constantly staying present. Communication is key! I completely agree!

What a wise woman. I love what she said about embracing the changes that different stages of life bring. My grandma, who died years ago at age 96, had a very similar attitude. She lived her entire life in New Orleans until at age 80 she agreed to move close to my parents in Minnesota. I think that must have been very difficult, but she never complained and maintained such a positive attitude through all the changes and health struggles that she faced. I hope I can live up to her example when I get to that stage in my own life. You are so fortunate to still have your mom with you. My mom has been in heaven over seven years and I sure do miss her!
