30:07 Gen Tulius, an ethnic imperial from cyrodil, saying, Ulfric from Skyrim using the voice broke nordic tradition is hilarious. 1 it's not Tulius's tradition or heritage 2 the voice is respected, along with graybeards, amongst nordic society. With nordics main complaints levied against the graybeards being that they won't intervene using their voice powers. To nordics, not imperial like tulius, the voice is as valid as challenging for the right to rule Tulius is just angry that the nords want to follow suit of the red guards and split from the empire, ironically enough the empire supported red guards splitting. Had the empire allowed for peaceful succession, like they did for hammerfell, then the empire would have had 2 allies in the fight against the thalmor. Now they only have 1 ally due to arrogance and double standards.
@YouTubecanfuckagoat2 жыл бұрын
The Empire also “left behind”. hundreds of thousands of hardened shock troops to “assist” the Yakudan people in their fight against the Aldermeri Dominion. A hands off approach that left them free to claim they were not aiding the redguards
@folkishappalachian68272 жыл бұрын
@@KZbincanfuckagoat It would have worked well in a repeat with skyrim, its just empire ego that prevented it. Now they permanently damaged diplomatic relations with skyrim because they tried to claim they know someone else's culture and heritage better than them in a weak effort of power retention. The empire was founded by a nord, had they aided skyrim in going their own way diplomatic relations would have remained high due to shared history.
@YouTubecanfuckagoat2 жыл бұрын
@@folkishappalachian6827 I agree. However, Ulfric is using this as an opportunity to assert his own dominance. It’s not about Skyrim. It’s about Ulfric. The High King respected him &, had he formally asked, would have supported a motion to secede from the empire. He didn’t ask, he challenged him, knowing that if the challenge was refused or rebuked the High King must step down. The High King knew this & accepted the challenge. Torgg knew he was no match for Ulfric.
@folkishappalachian68272 жыл бұрын
@@KZbincanfuckagoat well fuck the comment I typed deleted, but I think its ego plus narrative building plus religious fanaticism
@folkishappalachian68272 жыл бұрын
@@KZbincanfuckagoat ulfric studied the voice, served in empire, companions, and reachmen campaign. He based his government out of windhelm, and one of his first major operations is to take the jagged crown. He kicked off the rebellion in response to thalmor justicars being allowed to massacre talos worshipers at the behest of the empire. Then there is ascention to power. Torygg would have listened to ulfric to leave. What creates a better narrative, a soft king leaving, or a nord ascending to power through the old ways of battle, and using the voice to legitimize his nordic claim. Ego is definitely in it, but I think its an easy write off. I also think that is why the dragon born is offered to kill Tulius because Ulfric wants to create the symbology of dragon blood, being nordic blood not imperial blood, killing a corrupt empire that bent knee to elves and banned worship of talos, who had dragob blood.

if the snow elves never attacked the Nords. They could’ve survived be mixing their culture with the Nords. In the end they don’t breed as highly as humans do so they could’ve many ways solve the issues of there extinction by mixing their culture with the nords and if they did this we would likely see a few snow elves in the game besides one.😺

Ya no if the snow elves are anything like their high elf cousins their pride would never let them just let the nords say.

I mean, that's on the assumption that Ysgramor and his sons were reliable narrators and not lying through their teeth so they could get an army to help them take new land. Literally the only people who know what really happened and lived to tell it (and have that telling recorded) ended with violent and prejudiced genocide. History is written by the victors, and they do not generally tell the whole truth.

In my opinion I just feel like Ulfric is the best option for Skyrim, just like every human he has his flaws. But he would be a better king then torrygg or Elisif. Skyrim is better off independent and better off without the empire as the empire isn’t the same as it once was. I just feel like there is more pros for the stormcloacks then imperials

The Orcs / Orsimer are not beast folk, actually were elves, hence the mer in Orsimer. A group of Altmer left Aldmeris following prophet Trinimac, who was then tricked by Maephala and then became Malacath and his followers became the Orcs / Orsimer, long story short.

“Alduin began resurrecting his brothers and sisters.” I don’t wanna be a big stinky nerd, BUT, it should be noted that the female dragons, the Jills, are all allies of Akatosh. I’ve never seen accounts of any Jills serving Alduin, as they’re sent by Akatosh to deal with time nonsense like Dragon Breaks.

The Nords being the first men in Tamriel is most likely false and we have more evidence that the Nedes, the ancestors of the Imperials, Bretons, and Reachmen were living in Tamriel long before the first Nord settlers set foot in Tamriel. Now if the Nedes were native to Tamriel or were just earlier migrations of men from Atmora before Ysgramor's, is up to debate but we definitely have evidence that men had a presence on Tamriel for far longer then the coming of the Nords. Though the Nords defeat of the Snow Elves was definitely a turning point for all the races of men.

Ok so idk if this leads anywhere, just a question: In Sky Haven Temple, theres a book talking about dragonborns saying how being dragonborn has to do somewhat with ancestry and or divine intervention. The book also says that the Septim line were mostly/somewhat dragonborn. Could this mean the Dragonborn could be a Septim, as we dont know our family in game?

I think alot of people skimped over the fact that Ulfric is basically a medieval Lenin, he was sent to deliberately start a civil war and weaken the Empire by the Thalmor, yet an independent Skyrim could theoretically become just as powerful as the Empire or even moreso. Land size alone doesn't determine the strength of a nation, and if Skyrim *was* independent it could enjoy an economic and industrial boom like most authoritarian nations who get independent. I know Imperial stans will go crazy over defending their precious Empire- but ultimately every great nation crumbles and declines, especially multi-ethnic over expansionist ones like the one in Cyrodiil. Honestly it all comes down to stubbornness and unwillingness to cut losses or allow new powers to grow, Thucydides Trap is in full-swing here.
