Definitely a must try.. theres also a hotdog truck close by called jjs.. also a must try. The chili is soo good.. so many great places to eat in newark!!

Born n raised in Newark ! Live down the shore now but always make the trip up north 2 Newark and make our stop at Dickee Dee's . The best Italian hot dogs and don't 4get the sausage n peppers ! Da best !

Wow does this bring back memories. I grew up with Jackie and Rickie and spent as much money as I had on not only the Italian Hot Dogs but also their “Ulcer Special”. Great to see Rickie there.

O My God!! That Bread!! My old Italian Grand Mother made it just like that and that bread she called it Pizza bread I wish I could find it today where I live in Pa.

Used to hang out in Charlie's Hot Dogs on Michigan Ave in Kenilworth for these. So so good. I think they've been out of business for about 15 years or so.

Jimmy Buff is the Originator of the Italian Style Hot Dog, in the 30’s. I lived near the store, 14th Ave, 9th St. There’s still stores around, one in Kenilworth and W Orange, NJ.

I want to try rutt's hut, Jimmy buff's & dickie Dee's, I think 2 things I am going to like better about dickie Dee's vs jimmy buff's, I am Irish & will eat any style taters except with rosemary herb as it makes my food taste like pine tar. I like dickie Dee's using peanut oil & the deep fried crispy taters vs jimmy buff's soybean oil & soggy sliced taters, & we shall see soon as my wife & I are planning foodie trip for a month that way plus diners, white house subs , also new haven Ct. louis lunch, Pepe's., in Penn philly cheese steaks/diners/roast pork sandwiches

Love dickie dee’s. We grew up on the JB dogs because of where we lived. We were close to the Irvington store. However , DD has a fresher taste without the oily residue that JB used to have. One location, original family still running it.

The oil they use is not your usual fat/ cholesterol laden oil. I know for a fact as I’m one of their suppliers. One beef dog now and then isn’t going to hurt you. Every day stress is more of an issue to be concerned about.
