Christine's tear filled song with the back drop of the snowed garden is hauntingly beautiful - my favorite scene in the film.

My mom died when I was 9. She loved the phantom of the opera so much and this play is one of the only things I have to remember her by. Every time this song comes on I break down in tears.

You were once my one companion You were all that mattered You were once a friend and father Then my world was shattered Wishing you were somehow here again Wishing you were somehow near Sometimes it seemed if I just dreamed Somehow you would be here Wishing I could hear your voice again Knowing that I never would Dreaming of you won't help me to do All that you dreamed I could Passing bells and sculpted angels Cold and monumental seem, for you the wrong companions You were warm and gentle Too many years fighting back tears Why can't the past just die? Wishing you were somehow here again Knowing we must say, "Goodbye" Try to forgive, teach me to live Give me the strength to try No more memories, no more silent tears No more gazing across the wasted years Help me say, "Goodbye" Help me say, "Goodbye"

I've heard this song by so many amazing singers and each one brings so much emotion to the song and such a unique point of view that comparing them would be like comparing apples to oranges!! I love this version, Emmy Rossum is an amazing performer and I love this version!!!

Impossible to compare different singers. Emmy has such an innocent beauty about her, where as Sierra bogoss brings a kind of powerful but more mature version to the song, and both are outstanding in their own way.

I didn't listen to this song for a while after my grandmother died. It would have been way to painful, but the part where she sings the part about the sculptures being the wrong companions for her father kept playing in my head because it was true for my grandmother to.

This part of the movie was one where I was really not happy with the Phantom because she's trying to grieve her father being gone. Some respect for those in mourning seems like a given, and definitely not the time to stage another kidnapping.
