I always found “Iorveth or Roche” like a very difficult choice. I like Iorveth, from his history and all the happenings to the elven world - he can’t be different, like he said, he is what he needs to be. Yes, he is arrogant, but who cares? Yes, he killed, but humans killed so many elfs - the way I see it - he fights chaos with chaos. And Roche, he is like a brother and I find myself “morally obligated” to go his way and to help him no matter what. And I also likes how he protects Geralt and wants to clean his name. Like Iorveth, he has weak spots, and that is what makes this choice soooooo hard, damn, that is what makes The Witcher game series hard, you must make SOME choice and then live with all the consequences... like in real life, right? And there is no “absolutely right path”. When I first played it, I went with Roche...

@andreleclerc72313 жыл бұрын
On one hand if clearing your name is paramount Roche makes more sense... I mean you sort of need the guy to make Letho is the killer the accepted narrative. If your top priority is saving Triss then Iorveth is the best pick. Zoltan got their commitment to go there (which is want to go)... and how much can you trust Roche to help you with Triss? Guy let you simmer and get tortured. Makes Loredo his top priority when Triss is in duress... Who says you won't be bumped further down his list of priority on a whim?
@jovialeksova3 жыл бұрын
@@andreleclerc7231 yeah, I get your point but... on the second play, I did not pick Iorveth's path because of Triss, I picked it because I wanted to learn more about elven world, their history, and also because I can really understand where Iorveth's rage came from and I do not blame him. I mean, after all, what you learn in Witcher game series is that the most monsters are human... Sorry to say but I was not that interested into saving Triss. xD For Roche, I don't know, I can't really blame him either. That's what most people on that position would do... Very, very interesting game and most unique experience - it brings out so much from us. I really enjoyed every second of every Witcher game.

Iorveth is such a great character. It’s a damn shame he didn’t appear in Witcher 3. Maybe Geralt could have recruited him before the Battle Kaer Morwen and Iorveth and Roche make peace for all the bulls**t they’ve put each other through in the second game.

There was a scene planned in Witcher 3 where if you successfully recruit Roche, Iorveth, and Letho, the three of them run into each other and their old tensions all resurface, but they (reluctantly) set their grievances aside for the time being for Geralt's/Ciri's sake. In the finished game, since Iorveth was cut out, they replaced Iorveth in that scene with Ves, with her and Roche confronting Letho together.

always on side of humans in witcher universe, socia tael are murderours guerrila just as hateful as likes of radovid, so i look from typical human persepctive of witcher universe, socia tael burned whole villages down and killed regular human civilians, all of us as human civilian peasants in witcher universe would perfer our own murderers rather than nonhumans, harsh but true.
@canerozdemir41954 жыл бұрын
Tough choice. But I picked Iorveth. Iorveth wanted to build a separate elven state which non humans can wonder around without being bashed or insulted by humans. Iorveth only does what he does because he simply believes that humans are not reasonable. Iorveth even says that he aims for a peace between humans and non-humans. If you show sympathy to him, he actually becomes an ally and you get to know him much better. I also like Roche, he was an interesting character in The Witcher 2. In The Witcher 3, I wanted to see more of him but the plot was focused on the Ciri and the Wild Hunt so Roche was more like a random NPC with additional content. I knocked out Iorveth instead of giving his sword when confronting Letho. But I saved him when he was captured. Roche didn't like that ofc but still saved Geralt when the mage was about to execute him. I like both characters but in that specific case, Iorveth made more sense to me. I could use the power of Iorveth's army and Roche's plan didn't give me a lot of confidence. Of course, non humans proved themselves to be hot headed at the end of chapter 1 but the Iorveth's path made me learn more about the non-humans and it actually provided an interesting story line. I also trusted Zoltan's instincts.

Especially considering that Roche readily murdered and cut the balls off of a guy he really didn't like. Food for thought.

Not sure when that confrontation is supposed to take place if Iorveth get captured in the playthrough timeline. Got knocked out... recovered, beat Roche in a duel... but still got captured? Yeah... doesn't make much sense. I prefer to pick the dialogue path that doesn't mention it and assume that didn't happen. That way I'm dodging a plothole that Iorveth gunning for Roche in Act 2... Watching your video here makes me somehow disappointed that Iorveth is not in the third game. It would be nice to see how he and Roche fight together in Kear Morhen. Maybe after both lost all their men, their goal and got deep stucked in a war they cannot change; the two can finally see a way to work together, just like Geralt and Letho. Iorveth deserves his own closure in the game.

Personally sided with Roche with my playthrough. After reading Act 1 spoilers, it seems like Iorveth kind of strayed away from the original mission of the Scoia'tael (According to Cedric, they were more like freedom fighters in his youth) and is also a short-sighted bigot that's just as much a monster as the racist humans of Flotsam. Iunno, he comes off to me as more of an anarchist than a freedom fighter. Either way, I'm pretty sure that Zoltan has a LOT of reasons to not trust the guy

To be honest it seems like Iorveth's path is the best one ! If you don't go on his path there is nothing you can do to save Vergen and Roach's path doesn't really achieve anything special since his temerian unit gets wiped out by Henselt . I don't even see any reason to do anything with him because of this and going with Iorveth makes tactical sense since he knows more about Letho and his people so he's the perfect man for the job. Plus that why should I help Roach ? No matter what you do Temeria will end divided, while if you help Ivoreth you can actually make a difference and save the cool Vergen community

I'm not tryna be that guy, but I couldnt help bit compare Iorveth and the Scoia'tel to BLM, only Scoia'tel is quite a bit more justified. Still, they are both causes without a clear goal, as if they were lashing out at whatever human they see fit to butcher. The moment i lost respect for the Scoia'tel was when Iorveth said he'd kill his own kind among other non-humans, claiming that simply living under a kingdpm he hates is reason enough for them to die.
@eplus3412 ай бұрын
IMO this encounter between both was stupid af from story point. Very weak part of the game and completely unnecessary. So you are planning and besieging Loredo and all of a sudden Roche goes wandering in the woods at night, alone, then finds Iorveth, who was also wandering ALONE (I mean, those archers who supposedly interfere if Roche wins are just so late, you can't really say they were going together with Iorveth). And the bs factor gets even worse as either way nobody dies and not because something got in the way, no, they just let each other go. Gotta be the weirdest blue balling in game history (apart from Half Life 3), imagine building upon the hatred these two share and then all of a sudden when there is a chance either one wins, they just, what, let the other go??? I mean Iorveth even tried killing Roche already at the start of Chapter I, so what actually changed since then??? And Roche, instead of explaining himself why he does not kill Iorveth, he could have used the time to cut his jugular vein and escape. "Oh, shit, archers arrive so better tell the guy I want to kill that his archers arrive, wasting time in the process, instead of actually killing the guy and still having time to escape!" It doesn't make sense. Jesus this part was such a shitstain on the rest of Chapter I. I wonder what CDPR were thinking as this is exactly where we start taking control of other NPCs (in this case Roche); after the very next cutscene we start playing as Henselt, so I guess they wanted to spice things up but come on, they could have done it differently.

I love Roche, one of my favorite characters. But I prefer taking Iorveth's path. It's also better for Roche, considering his conspiracy doesn't get exposed in Iorveth's path. So Henselt loses the battle cause of the conspiracy. So Roche's men live and Ves does not get raped. (EDIT: I learned from developers that Roche's conspiracy fails no matter the path, shame) Also, I would go with Iorveth because I need to find Triss as soon as possible. I wouldn't have had the patience to wait half a day till midnight just to deal with Loredo first. I see Roche as a friend regardless but I choose Triss' safety over him. Besides, I did Roche a favor and killed Loredo after joining Iorveth. So Roche would appreciate that. And I saved Triss so the council remains alive and works for Radovid. I don't join Iorveth because I like the Scoia'tael. In fact, if Roche left right away, I would choose him as my canon path. But I do like Iorveth a lot since he's actually really reasonable. But I also choose the Order in Witcher 1.
