I absolutely LOVE the thematic overtones of the Griffin in The Witcher universe. It is thought of as a noble, chivalrous, and magnanimous creature but is in actuality a bloodthirsty and oft-indiscriminate beast capable of great cruelty. Just like the noble class it so often represents.

FudgeMuppet the witcher videos are on point. But i am a strong believer in constructive criticism, so here’s my take. The videos quality is very high, and I adore the comparison to real world mythological creatures, but why not real world animals and biology. A biology of monsters would be fascinating. For instance the griffin has a high resemblance to theropod dinosaurs, owning 2 wings and 2 legs, instead of the hexapod body plan of historical griffins. You can find this body plan in basilisks cockatrices and wyverns, suggesting to me that they are all distantly related. If griffins are indigenous and not from the conjunction of the spheres, this raises the question, are basilisks cockatrices and wyverns indigenous? Any way, these witcher videos are amazing

I really appreciate these lore videos, the stories of the Witcher world are very interesting. I'm hoping to get back into the game, and this really helps. I also love that you bring up the connection to real world stories and legends, since that is a big part of the worldbuilding. A bit of feedback for Drew: I know you are reading from a script, but that tends to affect the rythm of your speech which can get a bit distracting. I think you could benefit from practicing reading the script in a more natural speaking rythm. It would sound a bit nicer and be a bit easier to follow. Mind you, the voice-over is in no way bad, it just feels a bit stilted.

I was playing a new game, around level 8 or so, hadn’t died a single time yet. (besides one time I accidentally jumped off a little to high a hill but we’ll just not count that okay) While running around Velen trying to finish a tiny side quest, I come up on on a hill and came near this griffin to see what level it was cuz maybe I could kill it and finish a future contract before even accepting it. Yeah no I never got to see it’s level (it was obviously high af) cuz that bastard swooped down a single time and killed my ass instantly.

Can't wait to see what you do with Basilisks/Cockatrices (not to mention the other flying/crawling monstrous beasts of the Witcher universe). Fun fact, it was initially believed that the Griffin legend was sparked due to ancient peoples like the Scythians discovering protoceratops fossils while digging for gold. While it's become a less plausible theory due to lack of evidence I kind of like the idea.

I never liked how the witcher 3 made griffins look. They look like ugly, bloodthirsty beasts, while the original designs made them look elegant, but powerful. They looked like beautiful creatures to be respected.

Was it reareally that difficult? Just get some tawny owl and spam ard and you have it grounded. Then use the spinning attack with thunderbolt with the oil. I was pretty fast
