YAY, as long as all the Yen's and Eilharts get burned alive i'm happy, they're the most evil, manipulative, greedy pieces of shit I've ever come across. Triss is hot though, so I'm fine with her. But if she were to have died, I wouldn't have really cared. Ciri on the other hand is awesome, she is nothing like them and I'm thrilled she didn't end up joining their little power hungry game and instead became a witcher.

It's funny that there is interesting bit in last Emhyr's line that was lost in translation. In original, Polish version he said "you" in plural, and then corrected himself to use singular form. This strongly implied that he wasn't fooled and he is perfectly aware that Ciri is alive and she just doesn't wan't him as her father. He just gave up because of it.
@TESkyrimizer4 жыл бұрын
That is very strange. This scene seemed heartbreaking but the Polish translation is a lot less sad eh.

@Mtladančo4 жыл бұрын
@@Mr47steam I'm from Slovakia and we have that plural thing too, cause our language is pretty similar to Polish language. But this plural is used only with person you have respect for and you don't know personaly each other pretty well. And I can assure you, relation between Emhyr and Geralt is not of this kind. Using this plural thing is used like this: two adults just met for the first time and they are using plural to express respect for the each other. When they got to know better each other, one of them can suggest more personally conversation. We have a term for this called ''tykanie''. Since they are using this form of conversation, they don't use plural anymore. So if Emhyr and Geralt were talking personlay in singular before, Emhyr would not use plural ever again, even in formal conversation.

@deadshot19957 жыл бұрын
"I don't think Tywin was a bad father." Lol, it was literally his main character flaw which led to his death and the fall of his house. You're right that he was a great leader and military strategist, but as a father he was terrible. For decades he failed to notice his eldest children were in a relationship despite rampant rumours and obvious signs. Tyrion was ironically his only child who inherited his brilliance, but he made him into an enemy through years of humiliation and abuse, including having his first lover and wife gang-raped and having Jaime lie to him about her afterwards.

So, no, Emhyr isn't a bad father, he's the worst father. It makes me lowkey mad that the game tries to redeem him and make the player feel bad for him because i honestly don't think he deserves it.

@Tomcat_Coyote Жыл бұрын
I see a lot of comments from people who love to talk shit about Emhyr and needlessly antagonise him, but that just serves to show that subtle writing and good voice acting goes over people's head. Emhyr is not a bad person, he's pragmatic and ruthless because he needs to be. He's the Nilfgaardian Emperor, a title that was rightfully his and that he had to reclaim from people who wanted him dead as a child. Nilfgaardians value strength, if he shows weakness as an Emperor, he's likely to be "removed" through a coup, or straight up assassination. He can trust very little people, if anyone, and he's at the head of the most powerful Empire of the Continent. The sheer responsibilities that he has to shoulder while keeping appearances would crush a weaker man. Also, being cold and distant doesn't mean you don't have feelings. But a man in his position can't express them openly. If anything, thanks to Charles Dance's stellar voice acting, it actually sounds like Emhyr is hurt very much when he learns about the death of his daughter, but he can't break down in front of Geralt, or anyone. His voice becomes shaky though, and he sounds very bitter. Not to mention, in the Blood & Wine epilogue, if Ciri visits you in Corvo Bianco, she refers to Emhyr as "Daddy" so it's hinting that their relationship is improving.

@@ryankwon8785 Netflix Emhyr is garbage, the actor was great to portray Duny, but he looks way too young to be Emhyr. Like too many people on that show he lacks charisma. I'm somewhat excited for the next Season but now that i've played the games i don't enjoy the show as much. In my game i let Ciri become Empress and i like that Ending because for once, Ciri actually makes her own decision without everyone trying to influence her and tell her what to do. And it's a positive outcome for "everyone". She will be a fair and humane ruler, who most likely won't have to make that many harsh decisions because all the unsavoury stuff was already done by her Father. I haven't read those/that book from GRRM, only the 4 first from A Song of ice and Fire, and i stopped at around a quarter of the 5th one because it bore me to bits.

@@mehtomox6310 "People like me" have played TW2 and TW3, i tried TW1 but despite the great ambiance, i don't have the nostalgia required to deal with the really old-school mechanics. I hate Shilard like everyone else, and he dies in my next playthrough, i'll make sure of that. And "people like me" are reading the books. I haven't yet finished the saga, granted, but i think i know well enough what people love to refer to, because it's literally the sole argument 95% people have against Emhyr. And it's usually ignoring a whole bunch of "minute" details. Personally, i hate making parallels between Nilfgaard and the Third Reich. Not because i like Nilfgaard as a Faction in The Witcher, but because i'm also a History enthusiast, and the Third Reich is the go-to basic bitch "i have never read a History book in my life" inspiration everyone uses for a Faction that is meant to be "evil", when it's obvious and a well known facts that Nilfgaard is inspired by the early Roman Empire. And i insist on the quotation marks because one of the prevalent theme of The Witcher franchise is the absence of good guys and bad guys, it's all shades of grey. And most of the time, the Northern Kingdoms do a pretty good job at trying to be a few shades darker than Nilfgaard, especially with all the Witcher 2 fuckery, pogroms, ethnic cleansings, splitting their neighbours in half with another big Power, which ironically makes them more akin to the Third Reich than Nilfgaard on many levels. I understand that for the sake of narration, CDPR needed to have some more clear cut bad guys and some other not-so-good-guys to play the poor "innocent" victims, but at the end of the day, an absolute monarchy (which all Northern Kingdoms are) is a dictatorship, and not any better than a totalitarian Empire. Serfdom is just another form a slavery, so, yeah...

*MASSIVE SPOILERS* Well the thing during the book nobody knew who emhyr actually was, and he had learned of the prophecy of the child of destiny. that child of destiny was to be ciri's child. Now there is alot of politics as to why he wanted the girl. She was the daughter of paveta, princess of Cintra, a land between the northern kingdoms and nilfgaard, a strategically CRUCIAL land if he wanted to complete his invasion of the north. His plan was to become the sovereign of Cintra by wedding and having a child with Ciri even though she was her child. He really was going to do it, this guy does not fuck around. He had been separated from Ciri since her birth by Queen Calanthe who might, or might not have seen through his plans. The law of surprise came into effect ( how geralt came to be Ciri's guardian) and he lost sight of her for good. After the events of strigga castle ( Yennefer getting kidnapped and Ciri trying to rescue her and ending up being rescued by geralt and his gang instead) Emhyr arrived to clean house.The only one who knew WHO he really was and WHAT he really wanted was Geralt, who recognized him at a glance from being the one who saved him years back from a curse. His goal in strigga castle as i said was to clean house and he brought the elite impera brigade with him. Geralt and yennefer were going to get killed and he would take ciri and marry her. She did not even know who he was. He went into a room with geralt and talked to him alone, Emhyr tanked him for saving his daughter but told him he had to die because he knew too much, its at that moment that geralt ( literally fed up with life in general) started verbally berating him about his lack of morals decadence and unworthiness as a father. he proposed to geralt to let him commit suicide in a bath with yennefer which the witcher accepted. Ciri was told by geralt to go with emhyr, after finally realizing that she was going to be taken away and that she would never see geralt and yennefer again, she burst out crying like an infant. Emhyr and all his soldiers had seen her kill countless mercenaries without batting an eye, and now she was crying like a babe. the scene touched the emperor in a fatherly way and decided to leave her and the witcher alone for good.

@@robertperrotto870 i don't think that's it, geralt told ciri to not harm emyhr under any circumstances just before parting after ciri said that she would resist. i think it's more Geralt not wanting Ciri to commit one of THE most horrible types of murder, Patricide. Geralt was ready to die and Ciri somehow knew that he would be die/never see him again, hence the tears.
