“With great power comes great responsibility” Arguably the most pivotal and important words of Peter’s whole life. This is the last conversation he would have with Uncle Ben before his death and he knows now he was just trying to help him. Peter has deep regret and sadness but as long as he carries these words and Uncle Ben with him he’ll always be there to do what’s right no matter how hard his life gets what’s why he’s Spider-Man.

The fact the Uncle Ben in this scenario doesn't know that Peter has super powers nor that he will become a super hero. He talks to him man to man. He says the line "With Great Powers Comes Great Repsonsibility" to him as a regular everyday man and in the meaning about what it is to be a good person and human being to those around you. Which to me just shows how truly great uncle Ben is, he just wants his son to be a good person and both Peter and Spider-Man takes the words to heart after his death.

This scene is so hard to rewatch. "Then stop pretending to be!" My heart breaks for this naive kid. "These are the years when a man changes into the man he's gonna be the rest of his life"....little did Peter know he was gonna begin to make that transition the same day. Another thing that sticks out is when Peter hurries out of the house that same morning, when he discovers his powers for the first time, Uncle Ben says "Teenagers. Raging hormones, they never change." Even when Uncle Ben had no clue in the world that Peter had freaking *superpowers*, he was still 100% spot on in assessing Peter's behavior. It wasn't Peter's powers that made him lash out at Uncle Ben, it was the kind of naivety that comes with adolescence, when your hormones are out of control, etc So much to analyze in this scene. It's so much more than one powerful sentence. It's over two minutes of powerful stuff.

One's ability does not condemn you to a life of servitude to the incapable. One's ineptitude does not grant them dominance over the apt. But what makes a hero is that, no matter how difficult the task may be, the burden of action is infinitely easier to endure than the regret of inaction or the eyes of the victims that did not need to be victims. Heroism comes not from a reward, nor a threat, but from a good human exercising their ability to make the world just that little bit brighter.

This scene and line is very powerful, neither of these two men understand how this advice changes both of their lives. Right after this Peter had the obligation to stall the thief but out of spite of not getting his winning share at the ring let’s the thrift go. It resulted that Ben loses his life as the innocent bystander trying to give another piece of advice to the thief’s accomplice, who ironically was more interested in what Ben had to say. It was this interaction that will forever remain in Peter’s memories, an uncle who was like the father he ended up shirking off without life experience to foresee what a blessing Ben really was. This last moment had to have haunted Peter, he didn’t follow through with Ben’s life that Ben ended up paying for and his last message to his uncle he didn’t want him as a father to see the hurt in Ben’s eyes at being rejected from showing his love and concern for someone who he did see as a son he never could have.

What i really love about this scene is how even as a child, I took it's lessons to heart, to be a kind person no matter how horrible or cruel I might've been bullied in school. This scene shaped me, and I still hold it close to heart.

I understand your words now way more than I did Uncle Ben. Peter Parker was lucky to have someone in his life like that. I wish my father was just like Uncle Ben sometimes. I don’t look at him less than he is. I just wish he spoke words into my ear, he rarely does.

Ben Parker: With great power comes great responsibility. Ben Parker (TASM): That’s what at stake here. Not choice! Responsibility! Richard Parker (TASM 2, deleted scene): And with great power comes great responsibility. May Parker (MCU): You have power. And with great power there must also come great responsibility.

Uncle Ben said the line in Spiderman, with great power comes great responsibility and when he mentions that these are years when the man changes into the man he going be come the rest of his life. Is it a sign saying that when Peter becomes Spiderman he'll be Spiderman for the rest of his life.

“No, no you’re not supposed to run away….” I feel that part always gets missed or overlooked. I fully understand what Uncle Ben is trying to tell Peter here, that sometimes running away from a problem or a fight isn’t always the answer even if the odds are against you. It’s far easier to run away from it but it’s far braver and wiser to stand against it and face it head on even if you feel like it’s the opposite. He has no intention of Peter to be a coward. Obviously if the fight is too big to handle then yes running might be the only option but having courage shows character and integrity. To be a real superhero without any powers or fancy suit

I wanna time travel again and go back in time and be a kid again and see Spider-Man on the big screen again and see all of my Marvel movies and tv shows. I can’t stand society anymore and I wish we can go back in time and watch our old Marvel movies like Spiderman and Iron Man and Hulk and Captain America and The Dark Knight and Old Broadway shows and Star Wars and Black Panther and Superman and X-men and old Disney movies again.

I love this scene. Genuinely good movies like those don’t portray the protagonist as a saint like most of what the entertainment industry does these days. They have character flaws because they’re just people, often young and still figuring things out (older generations are too, but I digress). Peter berates his uncle here out of arrogance, mostly. He acts closed-minded and anything but humble, even though Ben knows what he’s saying is true, likely speaking from experience. This is the kind of thing that happens in the real world too (minus the superpowers). Adversity and hardship has a clever way of instilling character in us, and I think this exchange followed by Ben’s fate really transforms Peter from the inside out, and that character makes him therefore fit for the enormous responsibility of being Spider-Man. He reminds me of myself, too. I’ve gone through enough hardships for three lifetimes, I feel like. But it (or if you want to get preachy, God) refined me in ways that no other set of circumstances could have done. And I tell you, it’s made me appreciate _everything_ so much more. My relationships, my family (especially my family in Japan), even everyday things like food and shelter. Such a powerful scene, as hard as it is to watch. And I think Ben handled it well. You can see how hurt he is, but he doesn’t berate Peter, he just takes it, trusting that in time, Peter will mature into a humble man.
