How to Tell the Truth

Preston operates in a number of roles: husband, father, evangelist, apologist, poet... and now, he's added "author" to the list. The Perrys discuss the spiritual opposition he experienced writing his first book and why they believe the enemy didn’t want this book to reach the world.
How to Tell the Truth isn't a book that teaches you how to evangelize "like Preston." It's a book that robs every believer of the excuses that keep them from sharing the Gospel. Here's the good news: you don't need seminary training to tell the world about Jesus.
How to Tell the Truth: The Story of How God Saved Me to Win Hearts, Not Just Arguments releases on May 21, 2024. Pre-order here: preston-perry....

20:00 "The moment you tell someone you are a Christian, you are an evangelist. The moment they start asking questions, you become an apologist. The moment they become a follower, you become a disciple maker." Preston Perry (This is revolutionary yet fundamental. I've spent my whole life missing this point of fruitfulness and faithfulness.)

This is absolutely profound, and I had not known the language to describe these things. Lately I've been very interested in Apologetics, as a way to gain a deeper knowledge of why I believe what I believe about Christ. I am so appreciative about the level of transparency in this Podcast, and it is really educating me about how I can use my gift of communication to lead people to Christ.

But don't let the term force it down their throat stop you. My Dad wasn't a Christian, and he'd say that often even when my Mom was saying nothing about the Lord. He was just under conviction. It caused me to grow up and virtually never witness cuz I knew nobody wanted the Gospel "shoved down their throat. " Want it or not, they need it. That lie of the enemy effectively muzzled me. Should you back off if they flip out, want to argue , or otherwise shut down the conversation, sure.

I just want to share this to whoever may see this. I have been following Jackie Hill Perry for only a couple month and her content is what I've been consuming the most. Especially With the Perry's. For this month in particular, ever trial and testing I've been going through. Any little worry I have, God has been supernaturally putting me in contact with their content that relates to it. Me and my boyfriend been having frequent arguments and then I saw their collab on Conflict. Hit me like a ton of bricks, the deeper meaning of dying to self. Today was another blow. Because I have been hardcore talking in my heart with God about reaching my close girlfriend about her faith. I've been scared. Scared that she will run when I have her so close. Then I see this the very next day. The way God is speaking to me through these videos makes me want to cry. Its really touching for me and I am glad that they are still In Tune God fearing people out there that could touch a young girl from the small island of Antigua 🇦🇬.

Not being able to properly minister to my family is the hardest thing. Because majority of my family have not really read the Bible just they believe in God and pray but no real understanding of God's word. Then when I try to minister to them I tend to feel like a failure people outside of my family reach out thanking me for my faith because it inspired them my own flesh blood just makes excuses for my cousins to give me the cold shoulder "Oh, well they probably think you were going to judge them." I haven't said anything to one my cousins since 2014 when I gifted her book on purity for her 16th birthday and my grandma told my mom they said I was "Forcing my faith on them." I can't even tell a family member’s yes prayer is important but you need to read more than Jesus is calling books but the actual Bible without them getting mad and calling me judgmental out of context. Ministering to your family is the hardest thing especially ones that claim to be Christian already.

I will be purchasing Preston’s book. I have a cousin that told me recently that I planted a seed in him 30 yrs ago and he’s just now fully understanding what it is to follow Christ. At the time I wasn’t near the Christian I am today but that seed God used and brought him to Jesus. At the time he had all kinds of issues and today he has repented and I can truly see Christ working in his heart. So I will say this, being heartless to anyone’s situation isn’t Jesus. Although Jesus did tell ppl to go and sin no more, He was never hurtful to anyone other than the Pharisees (but we know why, they pretended to love God but inside their heart God wasn’t really there but there was pride and greed). I appreciate you both so much taking time out to do these videos, write spirit filled books and just standing for Christ in a world where ppl need Him most. I witness to a lot and ppl I know, but I too would love to witness to strangers. So hopefully Preston’s book will help me get there. May God continue to cover, protect and bless your family.

The gospel of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy. Prophecy comes as a by product of speaking about Jesus, the whole message centers around Him as His Word does. God is Spirit so anyone who worships Him does so in spirit & in truth. Without the Holy Spirit, I wouldn’t know how to worship God & be a pleasing aroma. We need to allow the Holy Spirit access to our hearts in the moments where we “stand trial” before those who we give the gospel to. I remember asking God how I’ll be able to show my loved ones the truth of the gospel & His response was simple. How did I find His kingdom? I was loved in by receiving salvation through deliverance, key word being love. He said I can only love them into His kingdom & that’s when He started to deal with me on how to love others by understanding how I didn’t know how to love myself until I came to Christ. I love me through Christ so I can understand how to love them through Him too.

I so needed this breakdown. Now, Jackie, can you both speak on how being an INTROVERT is ok but how to differentiate between being an introvert and just being shut off to people and building relationships within the body of Christ

Gratitude is such an insufficient word to describe how I feel after watching this but it’s the only word I have. This is probably one of the most profound and powerful episodes so thank you is all I have to say. Thank you.

Dealing with spiritual things behind what's visible requires a lot more than what mosr church people even know. There is also a hierarchy and if one is unwise, one can be in a place where they don't have spiritual authority. We must be in the Word snd spirit-led.

Thank you both for this conversation, and congratulations on the book, Preston. This was much needed and I thank God for His wisdom and Spirit throughout the podcast. May He continue to bless you both, your family, and ministries in Jesus name 🙏🏽❤️

The moment you tell somebody you’re a Christian-you’re an evangelist. The moment they start asking questions-you become an apologist. The moment they’re willing to follow you, you become a discipleship maker. Wow 🤯🙏🏾

I look forward to purchasing and reading this book. I believe it will help me share God's word to people in my reach, both personal and impersonal. Thank you, Preston and Jackie, for always sharing God's word in a way that is reasonable to understand.
