Y’all did an excellent job on discussing the Trinity! I’ve always said we must avoid trying to explain the Trinity with “human” terms, God is not like us He is different. But what He has revealed about Himself in scripture we must believe/embrace. I look forward to the day when we will see Him as He is and be made like Him (I John 3:2) and even then He will still be greater! What an amazing God we serve!🙌🏽

I think the true issue is that Christians truly have difficulties understanding the Trinity/Godhead, so they can’t explain it well. It is okay to use human analogy. Jesus did the same while explaining the parables. He used objects that humans are familiar with, so that we can gain understanding of the gospel. This is done throughout the Bible. Personally, I would use the same tool, such as, the different forms of water, however, I wouldn’t explain it as it TRANSFORM from one form of water/entity to another. I would present the three states of water at the same time but say the Father, The Son and Holy Spirit are one in character, nature, principles, and purpose, but each has different role in the plan of salvation. The three states of water are the same: chemically (nature of it/ substance are the same). They are not the same physically (play different roles). It is impossible for Him to do evil. Except when God (Jesus Christ) came in a form of man, then He was tempted in all points of evil, but chose to never sin, for our sake. When we read things in the Bible that occurred and appears to be unjust, we need to remember that we are not God and He can read hearts of men. He is and always a just God. I love how they explained that God was never alone and He is Love; it was enlightening. It explains the importance of fellowship with brethren and the purpose of marriage. Don’t forsake the assembly of the brethren. It is not good to be alone. It just makes me think of those who struggle with depression and low self esteem. How they think that no one is like them, so they isolate themselves become subjected to more of Satan’s tact/torture. I realize that he uses the same exact formula (tact) on everyone but you wouldn’t know bc you don’t want to talk to anyone or the thoughts appears to be so believable and reasonable.

Wow, I love the way you wrote this comment, "what He revealed about himself in scripture we must believe or embrace." It really is a relationship and intamcy with the Holy Spirit & relevant to how people struggle with relationships today, and may be why so many are struggling in relationships in general, now that I think about it. Trusting enough to let someone lead. Idk why, but the first thing this made me think of was a relationship & being intimate with the Holy Spirit, like in a union. Not in an inappropriate way, but in a way that allows trust and vulnerability.

Also when Jesus is being baptized by John, Mathew 3: 16 " As soon as Jesus was baptized, he(Jesus) went up out of water. At that moment heaven was opened and he (John) saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him(Jesus). And a voice from heaven(God) said, " this is my son in whom I love; with him I am well Pleased." In this instance all three are present.

Well done guys, i watched one of my favorite apologist, bob of speakers corner aka bob the builder say something akin to love/mercy by nature is a transaction, if God is all loving/most merciful and has always been all loving/ most merciful if he isn't triune who was he all loving/most merciful to. You can't be eternally loving without someone to be loving to, you may have the potential to love but actually being all loving only starts when another party can benefit from the transaction of love We have a triune God that has always existed as one being in 3 persons hence always been in perfect union in love. Also sometime it's so hard when discussing this our human limitation causes us to use potential erroneous words like when Preston used people instead of persons which becomes problematic but I completely understand what he meant. I am forever grateful for the grace of God. Stay blessed everyone

This is why I get confused at times because I’m a Christian, raised in a Pentecostal church and we believe this also we just don’t call it Oneness because God is and as you both said He goes beyond our very understanding of space and time. I love what Preston says at 26:42 . I think you can even take it a step further in saying, proof that God in very nature IS Love is the fact that he exists, in very nature, as three distinct persons, which in order to continue existing, he has to love. Love is the ultimate existence so to speak. Crazy stuff man.

The Trinity has always been a beautiful mystery for me. I tried to wrap my head around it and I just can't. I think I have believed in modalism once upon a time, and then was taught that that's not true. It's just really hard to fathom how it can be one God, three persons, different operations, yet they are all one. I think what you said during the video is very true, because God exists outside of space and time we can't fully understand His nature. Once we are in our glorified bodies, I believe we will understand. We are in the 3D world, but I believe God exists in another dimension. I hope that's not too weird of a thing to say

This may still be modalism, but I see God as three all at once but each facet of Him has a purpose and acts in that purpose. Jesus is the physical manifestation of His Love and Mercy, the Way, the Truth, and the Life for man. The Spirit acts as the expression of God's power on Earth, the Hand of God in a way. The Father is the Source, the Judge, Love, Wrath, the Word. Jesus was baptized and received the Holy Spirit and the Father spoke in Luke 3:21-22. Three separate actions from separate, equal entities that are each whole and all One, but act in their purpose.
@yimyams906
@yimyams906 2 жыл бұрын
I think this is further evidenced by the idea that Jesus intercedes for us (Hebrews 7:25, Romans 8:34). Why would Jesus need to intercede for us to the Father, Himself? That is a part of Jesus's purpose. The Father even holds knowledge that the Son does not (Matthew 24:36, Mark 13:32). That does not fall into Jesus's purview and we can assume, as it is not stated as explicitly, that the Spirit also does not know. This does not detract from their equality but it supports the "purpose hypothesis."

Interesting convo; however, the Oneness Pentecostals doesn’t not believe in modalism. They don’t believe that God stops being the father while he was the Son. They believe that God was Manifested in flesh as the Son while still remaining God, the father. There would be no confusion if we stick to the scriptures.

to add to jackie's point at 29:01, i'd even say that to carry unbelief concerning the trinity is to deny every claim and work made by the persons of the God-head about us. for instance in this example of salvation, to deny jesus as God is to deny all of his works including the cross and the cross is the only reason why were are saved. likewise to deny the holy spirit as God is to deny the very means by which we engage in righteous living and refutes all the power we have to be like christ and refuse sin. another notion concerning trinitarian theology that i've heard more recently is this idea that the God-head is hierarchal. i would love to get y'all's perspectives on that.

How can the Messiah be Yah's Son (Ben) if He always existed according to the trinity doctrine? What makes a son a son, except that he be begotten or adopted? Meaning, a son is not simply a title that one throws around. So when the Messiah says that He is the Son of Elohim (God), then truly there was a time that He did not exist and the Father brought Him forth. So believing the trinity is believing a lie because you deny the witness of the Messiah. The trinity also falsely claims that they are equal when the Messiah clearly states that His Father is greater than He. He says how His Father gave Him the ability to possess life within Himself, how He judges based off what He hears from His Father, how He does and speaks what His Father has showed Him, among so many other things. He says when He's praying, 'nevertheless not My will but Your will'. The Messiah plainly shows a hierarchy. We will never see the Messiah commanding the Father to do anything because He is in subjection to His Father. Literally His authority is from His Father, not the other way around. So no they are not equal, because the Messiah ONLY exists because His Father already existed and perfectly planned His bringing forth. The Messiah is Elohim because His Father is Elohim, not the other way around. We worship, the Messiah with His Father, Yah, because they are echad (unity), not equal. Just as those who receive the testimony of the Messiah will be echad with them, but never equal to. Because saying they are equal is saying that they have the same authority and same ability to rule the other. You would have to say that they set up from old an agreement, for one to give the orders and the other to obey (according to the trinity). This is not so. Truly the Messiah is the Ben (Son) because He knows who He came from, He knows who His Father is! And there is no rivalry between them because esteeming the Ben is truly esteeming His Father, whom he tells us to value as we value Him! And how do we know that the Messiah is the Son? Because the Father said this is my Son, whom I have brought forth! It is a REVELATION from the Father who knows all things, WHO gives the authority, WHO even the Messiah says is the True Elohim! The Messiah is begotten from Yah from the beginning because the Messiah marks the beginning of creation, the aleph and tav, the One who came from the One who has no beginning and always existed. Yes, Yah existed by Himself! SO STOP telling lies, stop spreading a false good news which is truly of the anti messiah, stop leading people astray with your reasonings because you set yourself up as teachers and speak deceits neatly packaged for people to eat up. You literally have spoken against the witness of Yahusha, the Messiah, all throughout this video and woe to you for giving your interpretation as truth. Yah has not shown you this lie because He is not a liar, but the devil is. Woe to you, if you don't repent. Trinity belief is sun (baal) worship! I thought the content and delivery was cool, so I watched many if not all the past episodes (I literally couldn’t stop watching it). During the same time I’ve been praying that God would help me to understand the trinity. The trinity has been one of the topics I’ve wrestled with in my faith walk. Growing up the trinity wasn’t explained in a way I resonated with (modalism) and even today I don’t hear the topic preached often. This podcast episode has brought so much clarity! Its a total 'copout' to apply mystery' or 'confusion' to the 'trinity as a justification! its a FALSE doctrine along with all other confusing philosophies and notions of religion! The bible is clear & simple! There is but ONE GOD and Father of us all as Jesus Christ taught! "This means life eternal that they might know YOU THE ONLY TRUE GOD" ( John 17:3 part)

I don’t think it’s that simple. Did the thief on the cross understand the trinity? What about the men from acts 19 who didn’t know what the baptism of the Holy Spirit was?… I think progressive revelation plays a part. So as long as you don’t reject what you know to be true and believe in Jesus, God will work it out as we persevere!

Just to clarify for some, I’m a oneness Pentecostal, and we wholeheartedly believe Jesus is God! He is literally called Emanuel, which means “God with us” Matt 1:22-23! Isaiah 9:6 tells us that the son that is given shall be called “everlasting father”. That alone illustrates the mystery of the Godhead! The SON is described as the everlasting FATHER. God is one, and has always been. Deuteronomy 6:4 “hear oh Israel, the Lord our God is ONE!” I appreciate these Convo’s because they push us to study, and really evaluate what it is we believe.

I was a straight A student and always paid attention in class. I remember in fifth grade, how diligently I paid attention in this specific science lesson where we talked about the states of matter. Yesterday I asked God for a sign to show me that I’m doing the something right in pursuing Him. I’m a born again Christian since 2 years. When I was in primary school I was a devoted Buddhist. So my point is, God is amazing. He laid out my life in such a way, even the moments when I wasn’t a believer would help me with my relationship with Him. He made it so, that I paid attention in that specific class, so that I could come up with the metaphor of the Holy trinity being like water, gas, and ice so that one huge question that pesters many didn’t pester me because I had other things trying to separate me from God and if I had one more doubt I would have snapped. ( now im past that stage and have a beautiful stable relationship with Jesus). Im shocked by Gods wisdom and grace right now. He used seemingly insignificant moments in my life to help me understand Him. And He used this to show me that our relationship is based off of a good and correct foundation.( I saw a comment also talking about this water gas ice metaphor and the Holy Spirit revealed to me how in my life it all connects) The states of matter is not like the clear cut structure of the Holy trinity but it makes this beautifully confusing Trinity a bit easier to decipher Hallelujah, praise the Lord ❤️

Great video, The trinity being “created” at the council of Nicea is prolly one of the most prominent lies out there. The whole purpose of that council was to excommunicate Arian heretics, not to decide if the trinity exists or not. Also, St Dionysius, who was a direct disciple of the apostle Paul is quoted in the 1st century AD, talking about the trinity, so the doctrine existed well before that council even occurred

The council of Nicaea solidified the trinity doctrine. But may I ask you a question. Jesus said that The Father is the ONLY TRUE GOD in John 17:3. Was he correct???
@ilovekene9697
@ilovekene9697 Жыл бұрын
@@leahjames6870 I think you're specifying more than the text or Jesus did. "You are the only true God". Looking at the entire verse, it is clear that Jesus was not speaking in relation to the Father individually, but God. In addition, whenever the Bible says something that is or similar to "[YHWH] is the one true God", it is always in comparison to idols or false gods. Also, by saying that the Father is the only true God, Jesus is not denying His Divine nature. The Father IS the only true God. Just like the Son is, as well as the Spirit. They are of the same essence. However, the individuality or distinctions of the Trinity does erase the unity the persons have in terms of holiness, and attributes. The Bible says countlessly that "God is holy". That means the Father is holy. The Son is holy. The Spirit is holy. But does the fact that they're all holy means they're all the same so therefore cannot be unique or in other words holy? Of course not. Because while they are distinct, they are all one singular God. I hope you at least barely understand my point seeing as the Trinity is extremely difficult to grasp. It's inexplicable to many degrees.
@leahjames6870
@leahjames6870 Жыл бұрын
@@ilovekene9697 The trinity is difficult to grasp because it was never meant to be. GOD is not the author of confusion and that doctrine is confusion. The trinity is not a teaching from Christ nor his apostles. Can you show me anywhere in the Bible where anyone believed such a thing??? Just one person. Christ’s divinity doesn’t mean he is GOD, unless other spiritual beings are God too🤔The Bible calls The Father GOD and Jesus called him the ONLY TRUE GOD. Jesus didn’t say “we” he said THEE, when speaking to The Father. The Father is ALWAYS called GOD, while Jesus is called The Lord. You can’t say 3 individuals, who are each separate and distinct from one another, each consisting of their OWN full divine essence, are all the ONE true God. That makes no sense at all. That’s polytheism. Unless you’re saying each person is a percentage of God, which is equally ridiculous. The GOD of Jesus, was The Father, not a trinity. The Father is the Holy Spirit, because that’s what he is, holy and spirit. Do you worship the same GOD that Jesus did, that his disciples did, that everyone in the Bible did??? These are the words of Paul, 1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but ONE GOD, THE FATHER, of whom are all things, and we in him; and ONE LORD Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

That water-ice-vapour model is exactly what I was taught while hearing that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit were one in three persons, which is a foreign concept to understand. So while people would tell me this true concept, they would explain it in a very wrong way. Hurt my understanding of Holy Spirit and reliance on Him badly I’ve seen someone say, “The Godhead is like the links in a pretzel. Three links, all forming one pretzel. Unique from each other, but completely enjoined.” Not a perfect example, but maybe drawing on the Scutum Fidel

It makes absolutely no logical sense for trinitarians to claim that they know God when they simultaneously claim that no one should try to understand the trinity doctrine. If the Bible supports a doctrine, it should be simple enough for its adherents to explain and prove without contradicting each other and scripture.

How do you explain the existence of love without God existing in three forms? If God is only one person, how could he ever conceive of love if there's no context for it? You can't have love unless you have at least two beings to receive and give love and the distinct existence of love as it's own eternal being because two beings wouldn't necessarily demand the existence of some bond between them.

I used to believe the trinity until I read the Bible through and through. I continue to remain humble and in prayer. With God comes clarity and Jesus said many things and He did not once say He was God but the son of God. I'm not desiring to attack anyone or make anyone change their minds about anything. It is ultimately between our own selves and God. I guess I just want to bring to light that I may not be the only God loving, Bible believing person who doesn't agree with trinity doctrine.

Love this breakdown, family! Definitely never an easy topic to explain. When it comes to making the case of Jesus's "God-ness", I feel one thing we often forget is that the very reason why the Jews wanted to crucify Jesus in the first place was because of His "claim to be God" (John 10:33)... as Preston points out, Jesus often made statements revealing He was "one with the Father" before He came to earth (His "I Am" statement in John 8:58 is another good example of this). Definitely great nuggets to keep in mind as we find ourselves wrestling or taking on people's questions about the deity of Jesus within the Godhead. Great episode all around! 🔥👊🏽
