Y’all did an excellent job on discussing the Trinity! I’ve always said we must avoid trying to explain the Trinity with “human” terms, God is not like us He is different. But what He has revealed about Himself in scripture we must believe/embrace. I look forward to the day when we will see Him as He is and be made like Him (I John 3:2) and even then He will still be greater! What an amazing God we serve!🙌🏽

I think the true issue is that Christians truly have difficulties understanding the Trinity/Godhead, so they can’t explain it well. It is okay to use human analogy. Jesus did the same while explaining the parables. He used objects that humans are familiar with, so that we can gain understanding of the gospel. This is done throughout the Bible. Personally, I would use the same tool, such as, the different forms of water, however, I wouldn’t explain it as it TRANSFORM from one form of water/entity to another. I would present the three states of water at the same time but say the Father, The Son and Holy Spirit are one in character, nature, principles, and purpose, but each has different role in the plan of salvation. The three states of water are the same: chemically (nature of it/ substance are the same). They are not the same physically (play different roles). It is impossible for Him to do evil. Except when God (Jesus Christ) came in a form of man, then He was tempted in all points of evil, but chose to never sin, for our sake. When we read things in the Bible that occurred and appears to be unjust, we need to remember that we are not God and He can read hearts of men. He is and always a just God. I love how they explained that God was never alone and He is Love; it was enlightening. It explains the importance of fellowship with brethren and the purpose of marriage. Don’t forsake the assembly of the brethren. It is not good to be alone. It just makes me think of those who struggle with depression and low self esteem. How they think that no one is like them, so they isolate themselves become subjected to more of Satan’s tact/torture. I realize that he uses the same exact formula (tact) on everyone but you wouldn’t know bc you don’t want to talk to anyone or the thoughts appears to be so believable and reasonable.

Trusting enough to let someone lead. Idk why, but the first thing this made me think of was a relationship & being intimate with the Holy Spirit, like in a union. I thought the content and delivery was cool, so I watched many if not all the past episodes (I literally couldn’t stop watching it). During the same time I’ve been praying that God would help me to understand the trinity. The trinity has been one of the topics I’ve wrestled with in my faith walk. Growing up the trinity wasn’t explained in a way I resonated with (modalism) and even today I don’t hear the topic preached often. This podcast episode has brought so much clarity! I was a straight A student and always paid attention in class. I remember in fifth grade, how diligently I paid attention in this specific science lesson where we talked about the states of matter. Yesterday I asked God for a sign to show me that I’m doing the something right in pursuing Him. I’m a born again Christian since 2 years. When I was in primary school I was a devoted Buddhist. So my point is, God is amazing. He laid out my life in such a way, even the moments when I wasn’t a believer would help me with my relationship with Him. He made it so, that I paid attention in that specific class, so that I could come up with the metaphor of the Holy trinity being like water, gas, and ice so that one huge question that pesters many didn’t pester me because I had other things trying to separate me from God and if I had one more doubt I would have snapped. ( now im past that stage and have a beautiful stable relationship with Jesus). Im shocked by Gods wisdom and grace right now. He used seemingly insignificant moments in my life to help me understand Him. And He used this to show me that our relationship is based off of a good and correct foundation.( I saw a comment also talking about this water gas ice metaphor and the Holy Spirit revealed to me how in my life it all connects) The states of matter is not like the clear cut structure of the Holy trinity but it makes this beautifully confusing Trinity a bit easier to decipher Hallelujah, praise the Lord ❤️

Or maybe it'll end up being two electives, I'm not that far in, yet. I'm GOING TO USE THIS video when we get to the Trinity. I actually just had my two I homeschool in elementary sit and watch with me, and we paused and discussed on their level off and on. This was so chock full of beautiful truths, so WELL PUT. The references of the Godhead being One, the point on LOVE as an action being in eternal existence BECAUSE God is Triune, keeping in the forefront that Deut 29:29 truth; that God is not human and cannot fully be understood by us and He doesn't have to for us to know Him and receive His love, and-just all of it. And maybe I'm mistaken, but I appreciate you Jackie, for holding back (or maybe it just didn't come up like when I thought I saw it) on not doing the (what I've always thought was a) faux speaking-in-tongues-without-interpretantion interjection. Great video, The trinity being “created” at the council of Nicea is prolly one of the most prominent lies out there. The whole purpose of that council was to excommunicate Arian heretics, not to decide if the trinity exists or not. Also, St Dionysius, who was a direct disciple of the apostle Paul is quoted in the 1st century AD, talking about the trinity, so the doctrine existed well before that council even occurred
@leahjames68702 жыл бұрын
The council of Nicaea solidified the trinity doctrine. But may I ask you a question. Jesus said that The Father is the ONLY TRUE GOD in John 17:3. Was he correct???
@ilovekene96972 жыл бұрын
@@leahjames6870 I think you're specifying more than the text or Jesus did. "You are the only true God". Looking at the entire verse, it is clear that Jesus was not speaking in relation to the Father individually, but God. In addition, whenever the Bible says something that is or similar to "[YHWH] is the one true God", it is always in comparison to idols or false gods. Also, by saying that the Father is the only true God, Jesus is not denying His Divine nature. The Father IS the only true God. Just like the Son is, as well as the Spirit. They are of the same essence. However, the individuality or distinctions of the Trinity does erase the unity the persons have in terms of holiness, and attributes. The Bible says countlessly that "God is holy". That means the Father is holy. The Son is holy. The Spirit is holy. But does the fact that they're all holy means they're all the same so therefore cannot be unique or in other words holy? Of course not. Because while they are distinct, they are all one singular God. I hope you at least barely understand my point seeing as the Trinity is extremely difficult to grasp. It's inexplicable to many degrees.
@leahjames68702 жыл бұрын
@@ilovekene9697 The trinity is difficult to grasp because it was never meant to be. GOD is not the author of confusion and that doctrine is confusion. The trinity is not a teaching from Christ nor his apostles. Can you show me anywhere in the Bible where anyone believed such a thing??? Just one person. Christ’s divinity doesn’t mean he is GOD, unless other spiritual beings are God too🤔The Bible calls The Father GOD and Jesus called him the ONLY TRUE GOD. Jesus didn’t say “we” he said THEE, when speaking to The Father. The Father is ALWAYS called GOD, while Jesus is called The Lord. You can’t say 3 individuals, who are each separate and distinct from one another, each consisting of their OWN full divine essence, are all the ONE true God. That makes no sense at all. That’s polytheism. Unless you’re saying each person is a percentage of God, which is equally ridiculous. The GOD of Jesus, was The Father, not a trinity. The Father is the Holy Spirit, because that’s what he is, holy and spirit. Do you worship the same GOD that Jesus did, that his disciples did, that everyone in the Bible did??? These are the words of Paul, 1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but ONE GOD, THE FATHER, of whom are all things, and we in him; and ONE LORD Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

I agree 100% with everything you all explained theologically, just want to say that from my perspective, a difficulty people have with an understanding of the trinity or explanation of the trinity is less with the actual concept and more with the vocabulary used describing it. When Preston said at 15:35 that there were "three separate people actively involved in the creation..." that sounds like polytheism. There were not 3 people. There was one being. A person is only a human, but a being is a broader category. I'm aware that the word "person" in Greek or whatnot really means more of a "personality", but since that is not how we use the word today (we only use it to refer to a simple human being) and that is not how scripture describes the trinity (which Jackie said herself should be described with language from the bible), it makes it much harder for the new believer or unbeliever to understand. In the Hebrews 1 passage that Preston quoted, it explains that Jesus is the very "expression" or "representation" (depending on your bible translation) of the Father. Jesus is God's arm. Jesus is God's Glory. Jesus is the word in the flesh. All phrases from scripture. The bible only describes the trinity in terms of expression and representation or simply uses symbols (like the sun, fire, lamb) to represent the Godhead. Although the trinity is an accurate concept, the bible goes at lengths to emphasize oneness rather than threeness. Even Jesus himself keeps repeating "I and the father are one" over and over again. The emphasis on the threeness is what throws off many people, and makes the concept sound polytheistic. In Messianic Jewish circles, only unity is emphasized...as well as in the new testament letters. I am NOT a oneness pentecostal or a modalist. I stand by the Apostles creed word for word and agree with you all theologically. It is just a matter of semantics and it has bothered me for the longest. The bible project has probably the best video on this topic I have seen to date. The video is just called "God".

19:31 I think the argument shouldn’t be whether something is logical, but whether something is consistent within the word. Something doesn’t have to be logical for us in order to be correct within our faith, but it does need to be consistent with the word. Especially, the whole council of God. If it is not consistent, then it may put it into doubt as to whether it is true. Not to say that it doesn’t make a true, it just means that the argument for or against it may not be a strong.

This is a great conversation Someone one explained the Trinity to me as the Sun From the Sun comes light and heat but the Sun doesn’t have to stop being the Sun to provide light and heat

Yes! 31:05 - 32:05 sums it all up! This is why I get confused at times because I’m a Christian, raised in a Pentecostal church and we believe this also we just don’t call it Oneness because God is and as you both said He goes beyond our very understanding of space and time. But I agree and understand this video! Was blessed and will continue to walk in the constant revelation of Gods scripture ❤️

I spent some time researching on the trinity, so I have a good idea about what it's all about and its basically the same way you guys view the trinity. God is good!

It would be amazing if you guys could discuss many second hand doctrine issues reagrding the church and the importance of togetherness and unity in Christ! But this was grea! It will give me great thought of knowing who Jesus is. Thank You!

God bless the Perrys. This video was super helpful in clarifying some of the points of major confusion about the Trinity for me. I really admire and love the way you guys bring across these concepts in a way that is easier to grasp. You have a special gift. Thank you for sharing with us. 🤍 May God continue to bless and protect you as you fulfill your purpose. You have inspired me and your faith is very encouraging.

We really do mean well don't we? We just want people to have a general understanding of how great and vast God is, sometimes we just get too caught up in our own ideas. Beautiful video, thank you for sharing

Oh my goodness, @Jackie you know what Preston was explaining about love at 26:45 (i.e. God needing to have lived in love and community to be able to perfectly know love), I recently read a book that perfectly explains that. It's call Reflection: Made to be like Him by Tom Swinney. It highly recommended by me.

Same. I believe God is God. The creator. God sent his SON, Jesus Christ. Fully man. Died for our sins and is now sitting at the right hand of GOD and the Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit.

Again such a great and informative podcast. Thanks for walking through the water metaphor and explaining the flaw in it because this is what I was taught and believed.
