This secret world of fake cards is often viewed as nothing but a scam, and while it certainly can be, lol, some fun can definitely be had as well! We ended up getting some pretty awesome cards!

I used to buy fake cards from unsuspecting people on eBay and make something with them but eBay banned fake merch so I can't do any card crafts anymore.

That’s actually a pretty creative and fun way to make use of these otherwise worthless cards. Maybe you can consider buying them from people who had the otherwise-bad luck in getting them to continue getting supplies for your crafts.

Wow, that’s such a great idea! I’m really sorry, somehow I missed this comment earlier, but thanks to @EonityLuna I see it now! I’m a big sucker for Pokémon crafts (maybe you’ve guessed by my upload history haha), so that sounds really cool to me! It always hurts to destroy a real card, so fakes are a much better alternative. Especially if you’re doing something like 3D cards, where you need a TON of one single card-a lot of them simply being filler. Actually, I originally wanted to buy these fake cards from eBay as well, but quickly found out I couldn’t and that’s why I ended up using aliexpress…it’s a shame, really, I wish they allowed it as long as it was clearly marked, so that people who ACTUALLY want fake cards, can buy them! By the way, what kind of card crafts were you doing with this fake cards from eBay?

Like you said, they look pretty darn real, if you don't know what you're looking at, you could definitely be fooledl! But besides that, honestly, I'm not spending $600 on a real umbreon VMAX lol. Hey! I definitely remember you, I've been doing just that actually, lol! That is, taking your advice. I've been playing around with the mic settings, the tone, etc., in the last two videos specifically. I've also been trying a different editing style as well! I figured, no point trying to be like every other poketuber, I'd rather be different! Going for a bit of retro vibes, it's a lot more fun, a lot more unique! I'm currently editing another video right now (should be done in the next few days), it's more in that direction. I like it! I think you were right! Ah, also, let me know if there's anything else you think I should fix/work on. I appreciate your advice!

On the moonbreon and lilie cards you showed, I wonder how the maker of these somehow (almost) copied the texture of the real full art cards. It's kinda scary how they put a texture on it because in the future, these fakes will fool everyone.

I know! I have no idea how they did it. Honestly, at a distance, 100% would have fooled me. In hand, they feel slightly off, and you’d probably notice that something is strange with the texture as well (if you’re familiar with the originals), but from a picture, nearly impossible. You’re right, scary how good they are!

This was actually a great video idea and I’d love to see some more unboxing stuff from you 😄. I remember buying a crimson invasion fake booster box and I pulled about 6 charizard gxs 😂. Is it just me or do you hate how the fake rainbow rares look, to me they just look flat without any colour or texture. To be fair though, from a distance you wouldn’t be able to tell these cards are fake.

Hey Requiem!! Nice to see you! I totally got to agree, the rainbows were by far the most obvious to me. With the VMAXes, maybe you can get away with it, but the Rainbows, you're not fooling anyone, unless they know absolutely nothing about Pokemon LOL. It was definitely a fun video to make though! My first time buying fake cards, and probably my last too lol. Those 3 custom cards at the end were really nice though, those I think we're actually worth it!

I don't get why the Pokémon Company doesn't do anything against this. Yes, there is a problem with fake cards in every card game, but no other game (as far as I know) does this little against counterfeits and selling them. Heck; last holiday, I was able to buy fake Pokémon boosters within our hotel shop! I informed the shop owner about this and he was all 'nah not my problem if people buy those who cares'...

I agree, though, realistically, what can the Pokémon company do? If the operation get big enough, they’ll shut them down, but they can’t be everywhere… and these fakes are _everywhere_ as you said! Maybe, fakes aren’t as big a deal in other card games, simply because there isn’t as much demand. Pokémon is HUGE. People buy the cards not just because they are cards (like other TCGs), but simply because they are _Pokemon_ . People will buy anything with Pilachu on it lol!

@@Witkomon actually, when you look at companies like LEGO or Hasbro, if they're willing to do something, they can do it. I tend to believe it's because the Company is Asian itself. No offence there, but maybe they're used to this kind of behaviour?

I don’t see fake LEGO as much, but it definitely exists… perhaps not to the scale of Pokemon card, but, Pokemon is also a significantly bigger brand… Remember, Pokemon is the single largest media franchise in the world, it’s HUGE! It’s also a lot easier to just print a bunch of low quality pieces of cardboard, then it is to make actual plastic bricks!

Maybe LEGO is a bad example, but Hasbro (more so WotC and the grandfather of all TCGs Magic the Gathering) seems fitting. They have a much more rigid policy regarding fakes and it is much 'harder' to actually get fake cards. At last, to me, the Pokémon Company's behaviour is bad customer service because of the many people worldwide getting ripped off daily. I think the company has the responsibility to protect their customers (and by doing so, generate more profit!?) But hey, what can we do except stop buying product from shady sources. *shrug*

Well, I know Magic the Gathering is big, but it’s definitely not anywhere near the level of Pokemon cards. It’s also a bit more of a mature card game, it’s harder to trick teenagers/adults who know what they’re looking for. I don’t think it’s a case of WOTC doing a good job of cracking down on fakes, I think fakes are simply not as big a deal to begin with. At the end of the day, The Pokemon Company is a for-profit business. It means the only thing they care about is money. (And this is very obvious by the video game series, lmao). Cracking down on fakes is like a game of whack-a-mole…it never ends. Shut down one, another will pop up to take its place. Shut that one down, and another will pop up. It becomes even more difficult when the people making these are running fake companies out of foreign countries-they’ll simply start another if they’re shut down. That said, the Pokemon Company definitely isn’t doing nothing… if a fake card operation gets big enough, they do shut it down. But to stat a full-on war on all fakes as a whole, would cost an INSANE amount of money and resources… and, like I said, Pokemon company is a business, it’s not worth it, especially when they may not even achieve anything… there’s no moral obligation to the customers really. If you buy Pokemon cards from big-box approved retailers, or from official means, (at full MSRP, of course, just the way TOC likes it), then you’ll get real product. If you buy from sketchy 3rd parties, well, they don’t like that anyway since they can’t control it! Don’t get me wrong, fakes suck! Getting scammed SUCKS. I just don’t think it’s so simple as shut it all down…

Yes actually... And people definitely do it. Faking the card is the hard part, but a generic plastic case and paper insert is not too difficult at all. And with a fake PSA case, people are less likely to question the card, AND if sells for a lot more! So be weary of that! Actually, you might have seen sometimes when people post pictures of their PSA cards they block out the cert number and barcode, that's so people can't steal it and use it on a fake card!

Hmm, possibly! That would be a cool idea! I’m sure they exist, although fake PSA slabs are definitely a lot more sketchy… especially if they’re using stolen certification numbers. Perhaps sometime, I’ll look into it! If there’s an audience it could be cool!

Nope, neither of those should have texture! Neither are "full art" cards. That popular is a character rare (equivalent to an illustration rare now, which, of course, don't have texture), and that MewTwo GX is a standard GX, equivalent to a double rare ex from Scarlet and Violet.

Wow, $350 in profit from evolving skies?! That's INSANLY lucky! I've opened more evolving skies then I care to remember (😭), and the only thing I have to show for it is a full art Vaporeon card, and a regular Rayquaxa VMAX. Maybe $10 in total, LOL! Evolving skies was brutal to me, but still, such amazing cards in the set!

According to google, cardboard dissolves relatively quickly in water… I figured, especially being the ocean, with salt water and rough waves, it should probably be okay… The ocean is vast, but I see what you’re saying, I did that purely for the video, it’s definitely not something I do often!
