2004 a plane took out the KFI broadcast tower. Knocked it off the air, then was at reduced power for a LONG time.

It's possible that he took off and didn't calculate the weight and balance , if it was too far after the allowable c.g center of gravity , he would be fighting a nose high attitude with the stall warning horn going off and trying to level it out , not being ablE to , when he made the turn back it likeLy stalled the lift on the wing and went into dive , or he had a eNgine out ,in iether case you don't want to turn back because you are inviting a stall and going straight in , always want to go straight ahead , apparently he had full fuel load , I can't imagine a small plane like that. Causing that causing that big of a explosion .😮😮

"Experimental plane" is a technical FAA category that nearly all home-built kit planes fall into. FAA said it was an RV-10 that crashed, which is classified as "experimental."
