Jim having a cannibalized spank-bank Wizard issue is the funniest running gag I've ever seen

I worked w Anthony at Sony Animation back in the day- probably post ToCow stint, as he eventually became an episodic director there on...'Men In Black' or 'Godzilla'? I can't recall. Funny, talented guy.

When you're that good you get burnt out, 4 issues back to back was a fortunate get at the level of exceptional art Mad was producing

There was a good set up for a joke that the guy who tore the pages out of Jim’s Wizard magazine was also the same person who ripped the saucy pages out of the manga imports back in the day.

You fellas should do a stream for an issue of Wizard! The chat would be epic.

I spent a sad amount of time as a boy open to that Vampirella cosplay page, so it does not surprise me the ad was missing from Jim's copy.

I remember chopping up my Wizards in the mid 90s to cover my (Catholic) school books which featured the odd bad girl which always supplied awkward glances from some of the teachers

I wasn't sure if Deodato Jr. was too mainstream to analyze for the channel, but his evolution, especially from ludicrously proportioned Thor, to anatomically mesmerizing Dark Avengers is wild to compare.

Multiple pages being pulled out of Jim's copy actually made me belly laugh, hope whoever tore out those pages got a lot of joy.

My first Wizard issue! Those trademark Joe Mad mouths really stood out to me as a kid. One of the first instances of me being able to pick out who drew something by picking out something specific like that.

Joe Mad broke my child heart when Battle Chasers took FOREVER to finish. Loved that comic. Rereading it now and it’s still wild. Shame video games took him out the game. Dudes work helped define the 90’s era Marvel for me.

This wasn't my first issue of Wizard, but it was the one that piqued my interest as I wanted to know more about comics as a young teenager without the income to purchase much of anything outside of X-Men titles, probably in hindsight (via this review) on the strength of its articles compared to one or two prior issues I'd gotten my hands on. I'd even argue that this issue or perhaps #50 is the turning point where the magazine becomes more humour and popular culture focused, which would only accelerate over the next fifty issues until it became almost entirely that post #100.

Have you guys ever covered "Wizard Edge"? I am not sure how many issues it ran, but the issue with Mahfood's tutorial on DIY ashcan comics alone makes it worth the look.

Bad-girl comics are blacklight comics in their own way... Also, I was lucky to get all four Sam And Max comics for cheap around 2005, and would buy an inexpensive collection in a second! I am baffled that they don't get a reprint here or there.

Jim, where can I send you some white cotton gloves - in the meantime put that hand sanitiser to good use;-) Walt Simonson understood that Scott was 'Slim Summers,' something Jim Lee and subsequent 90s artists failed to understand, including Joe Mad. Scott's established body type/ skeletal system could not support the level of muscles these artists layered onto him without him ending up it traction (no run in with Shadowhawk required). As for Steve Purcell, you've got to get him on for an interview, and also Ben Edlund.
