After weeks of rain, snow, and mud, we finally had a solid week of dry weather and great temperatures, capped off with a Friday in the mid-60s! Perfect opportunity for a day-trip to Howler Bike Park.
There were some wet spots and some mud, but you aren't riding mountain bikes anywhere in KC after the weeks of wet weather we had (and you definitely aren't taking shuttle laps)! A lot of our usual crew wasn't able to make the trip, but @smalltimenobody is always ready to pedal, and a bunch of the other KC guys we sometimes ride with were there ripping and shredding.
We hit up all of the usual favorites: Hippie Cowboy to Taco Cat, Swayze Train to Dirty Dancing, Momo, a bit of Mustard Tiger, and some first-time hits on The Wizard.
Big-time knuckles to my homie @smalltimenobody for sending the big rock gaps on The Wizard. Appreciate the encouragement from all the riding homies! I've wanted to check off that wood-to-wood gap on The Wizard for the past 3 trips at Howler, but just couldn't find the right conditions nor courage to send it. Sometimes seeing someone else shred the feature gives you the boost of confidence you need to go for it. Wood-to-wood jump on The Wizard: check!
... I'm coming for you next Wizard Wall Ride!
(I feel like I have to complete all the features on the trail before I can buy the shirt, otherwise I've only half-earned it. I suppose I could buy the shirt, cut off the bottom half, and wear it like a belly shirt though.)
