Great video coach! I can do 75 unbroken DU's but I have this problem with my left hand after a couple of sets. Recording yourself is a great idea but I actually found I have this issue by working out outdoors. On any sunny day, use the sun as a back light and you can see your shadow on the floor, concrete, pavement, etc. That's live jumping rope feedback! hehe Thinking "Smash the floor" is a great cue coach! Thanks! These are some other considerations that helped me fixed it: 1. Use a small kid's ball and put it between your feet and do a few reps of DU's. This drill helped me get familiar with feet timing. I like to think "Squeeze and touch your toes" when I jump 2. When I'm doing DU's I like to tell myself certain cues like "relax your shoulders" or "I'm a fluffy cloud" (Cars 3 Movie, haha) 3. I used to grab the end of my jumping rope and just do a couple of one handed rotations trying to feel the movement on my wrist. DU's was a very frustrating skill it took me 8 months of consistent practice, 5 minutes at the end of every workout and the help of many Wodprep videos. Thanks for the video again!

Been using this lockdown time of life to try and learn these. It's taken a lot of training for not a heck of a lot of progress - but I'm determined. I'm still too frantic, and tend to jacknife a lot. One thing I know for certain, I never would have put this time in to learning if we hadn't been stuck at home for weeks!

This video is great!! Thank you!! This is my exact issue!! My right arm tends to drift back, rather than up, causing me to get whipped always on my left butt cheek and back of the thigh!

Good video and ideas. At 75 doing 100 unbroken singles is a milestone. 3 double unders and I'm pumped. :).... always the left foot but I had left knee rebuild and a fracture on the tibia. Heck just jumping at all is great. I can do 20" box jumps. When starting crossfit jumping on a plate was tough

Build slowly but surely - make sure singles are feeling good before worrying too much about big sets of double unders!

My forearms take a beating when I’m doing double unders. Love the new studio. I would do countless single unders in WOD after WOD until I stumble on WODprep.com My new PR is 52. There is a ton videos out there with people trying to teach double unders but you really helped me out. Thank you!!

Thanks Ben! Great information. Coach David pointed out my lopsided spin just this past week! I'm going to try pushing my left arm into the floor and see if that helps. I used a band back when I first learned how to do double unders and it worked, so I can always go back to that as well.

Used to get whipped in the bum. I have a great picture from the 2018 Open whip marks on my right bum cheek from all the DU's. Sorted that, now it is my right forearm.

That rope rage is real. That was totally me yesterday! I feel like I've lost my double-under mojo since working out from home. Gonna video myself in slo-mo to see what I'm doing wrong. And left-forearm welts, that's me.

Toes!! 😡 When you said lopsided was definitely a light bulb moment but it's not the arms. The hips are out of alignment due to a broken femur will Def record and check thanks for the tips 👍🙏

OMG your videos are the best 😂 I get hit on the butt, and also the top of my big toe. Both suck. I know I'm lopsided (thanks to DUU) but I never tried the one-arm-in-the-band-trick. Guess I'll be doing that for warm-up tomorrow.

Great video! I definitely have problems with this. My right arm lifts for sure. I can do singles all day without issue, but doubles have eluded me. I've only chained like 2 or 3 in the last 2 years. My biggest problem is not being able to jump high enough consistently to get around the rope 2x. That leads me to piking and doing all kinds of other dumb stuff. Is that covered in the program? I'd love to learn this before I die.

I was going to add that lopsidedness could also be caused by one hand/wrist doing more of the spinning work than the other...? I suspect that I may be guilty of this...need to video.

I actually have the opposite problem. My left arm drops when I get tired. My shoulders start to go and it drops creating that lopsided effect. Any tips? Mentally telling myself to keep it up for a round or works, but once fatigue sets in…done!

Hi Ben: on the Crossrope system you recommend -- which rope do you start with to learn DUs? The 2oz or the 5oz? I can kill singles unbroken, but stringing together more than 2 DUs eludes me.

BOTH! I am highly passionate about switching back and forth between rope weights - this is one of my favorite ways to teach people how to truly control the rope. Usually we will start with the 2oz... then move to lots of "heavy" rope practice.... then back to the 2oz once you have all the kiks worked out :) This is what we program inside of our course, too wodprep.com/double-unders-unleashed

Whenever I trip it always gets caught between my feet, under my left foot and over my right. I’m left handed too and I’m thinking I may have that lopsided spin. I have to record myself again. Haven’t done it in a long time!

Great video. Any tips for a drill if my problem is my hands go down (as shoulders tense up) every time I do DUs? I tell myself to keep my arms bent and hands forward, but they just keep moving down the longer I jump, and I can't *think* myself out of it.

@@WODprep I saw that they do ship to europe. But the shipping costs 46 dollars.... If you buy another jumprope from their collection (for example the get lean one) the shipping to europe is free...? So I dont think this is a great offer for people not living in the US unfortunally. Sounds a bit unfair to pay 46 dollars on shipping on the jumprope that is offered as a deal and then no shipping costs at all on all the other ones.
