The clip of you riding with no hands on the bars is blowing my mind, I wasn't aware that any scooter was stable enough to do that! @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide2 ай бұрын
I haven’t tested the Mantis X Plus yet, so I don’t have a feel for the price vs performance right off of the top of my head. But I generally Wolf X vs Mantis is going to be a question of stability vs portability. Wolf X has amazing stability, but it’s large folded size and the fact that you can’t carry it by the stem make it much harder to put in the trunk or carry upstairs. For fun factor, they’re both sky high, but in a different way. The Mantis is more playful, the X leans a littler more toward power cruiser, even though it’s sporty around corners and more playful than the big Wolf scooters. -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide which brand do you prefer personally tho? And what e scooter do you recommend from the brand you prefer?
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide4 ай бұрын
That's such a tough question now that we've tested about 170 scooters, because for some riders, the literal worst scooter we ever tested (Macwheel pro) would be the best choice because the range at that price was the best, if that's what someone needed. (as long as you could live with basically no dashboard and an awful awful ride). So it just depends so much on the rider. This scooter, the Wolf Warrior X from Fluid is one of my desert-island scooters though. It's a list we talk about here at ESG, of if you could only have 5 or 10 scooters for the rest of your life, which ones would they be. I'd have to think about whether it cracks the top 5, but it definitely makes my list if I were taking 10 to the island (and really might make the list of 5). I'm not sure if I have a Dualtron on that list because I'm so far behind in testing modern Dualtrons right now. But we'll get there. -Paul

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide4 ай бұрын
On some scooters you can install taller handlebars or use a mount extender that bumps them up an inch or so. I’m not sure if there is enough slack in the wires for that here. Handlebars are 39.25 inches above the deck by my measurements. So a little taller than the GTR but not tall enough for you. The weight limit is too low here as well. The NAMI BURN-E 2 would also be a good choice with 42.5 inch high handlebars and 330lb weight limit. -Paul

We use an urban range test course (Berkeley CA) riding at about the same speed as traffic. So typical peak speeds between stop lights is about 25 to 30mph, but if you count all the time spent slowing down and speeding up between stops it averages out to about 18mph. The important part is that all of our scooters are tested the same way, so if you go to the electricscooterguide website and check out the range for different scooters, the relative range between two different scooter tests is going to be very accurate. -Paul

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide4 ай бұрын
Great question. I wouldn’t have thought of those two, but at the current price of the GT1 it’s a legit choice. The GT1 is a ton of scooter for the money and really has a vehicle grade feel to it. The big big downside of the GT1 is that it’s physically impossible for one person to bring it upstairs. It’s a super smooth super stable ride. Let me look at the stats. Ok, I pulled up the performance numbers and the WWX destroys the GT1 and has way more range. 32.9 miles for the WWX and 21.9 on the GT1 on the same range test course at the same average speed. Top speed of the X is way higher 45.5 vs 34.5mph for the GT1. Hill climb and acceleration is also better for the WWX. You can see at our test numbers at the electricscooterguide website. In summary, the GT1 has very nice ride quality and build quality, but performance of the WWX is much better and the ride quality is also very good. -Paul -Paul

What is going on with these makers? Another one that keeps using tubed tyres. I have a scooter from Voltrium in Australia and it has tubes too and I've stopped using it because of all the flats I was getting. Now I run a Segway and I haven't had a single flat in over 500kms. Thanks Paul, another great video.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide4 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! So glad you've stopped getting flats. Which Segway are you riding? Does it have self-sealing tires, or do you think it was just being tubeless that made the difference. -Paul
@gerthduramaxjosh96114 ай бұрын
@@zjgw72 do you know what was causing you to get the flats? Because I run tubes in my scooter and I have over 500 miles without a flat just hoping to avoid the issue. Thanks in advance.
@zjgw724 ай бұрын
Thanks Paul I have the Segway Max G2 with the gel self-healing tubeless tyres. I think it was that the tyres had both these features the prevented it from getting flats. I won't go back to tubed tyres anymore. When I upgrade my scooter I want to get either the Segway GT1 or their P100s. Cheers Zac
@zjgw724 ай бұрын
Hi gerthduramaxjosh9611, thanks for your question. I think it is a combination of the following- tubed tyres, low profile tyres, my size(265 pounds or 120kg) and that there is a lot of brick pavers on the roads where I live. Where the pavers join the bitumen there is a concrete join and there is not always a smooth transition across them. But since I brought the Segway Max G2 with the tubeless self-healing gel tyres I haven't got a flat. I won't be going back to tubed tyres again. Hope that helps, Zac

This would make it a perfect scooter for me if it t came with a removable battery 🤷🏻♂️
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide4 ай бұрын
Ooh, I'm super curious about this subject. How would you use the removable battery? It's starting to show up in more scooters, like all of the RoadRunner scooters, like the D4+ RS5 and RS5 Max and last week I was testing the Gotrax GX Zero. Would you buy a spare and swap them, or use them for charging the battery separately from the scooter? -Paul

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide4 ай бұрын
In some countries they are speed limited. It could be in the p settings. If you have this new display setting P2 to 100 gives you maximum speed. Some scooters have a single wire that needs to be disconnected inside the deck to remove the limiter, but I don’t know if the X does that since mine arrived without a limit. -Paul

As the leader in reviews, can U emphasize more industry standards,, and less integrated things, more like bikes, more universal not locked into one company, so aftermarket replacement part industry can take off and the e scooter "economy" will have more weight, in political debates
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide4 ай бұрын
It’s a great idea. I think the manufacturers would all like it too. I’ve recently started asking everyone for rake and trail numbers because those are the two most important numbers for stability and they should really be a focus. Part of the reason bikes are so standardized is they’ve got a 100 year head start on us! We’ll get there. Awesome suggestion. Thank you! -Paul

I’m so curious about the applications for swappable batteries. How would you use a swappable battery most? Would you buy a spare and travel with both. Buy a spare and keep it at home base to swap out? Or would you just have the one battery but use it to charge separately from the scooter and make the scooter easier to lift? -Paul

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide swappable batteries is game changing it protects it from theft and vandalism and extended your range if you run out of battery. Having a spare battery in your back pack is a breeze.

Good to know. The spare battery question is the one I'm really curious about. I think it's an awesome idea, but not sure how many will take advantage of having more than one battery, given that spare batteries often cost 1/3 to 1/2 the price of the scooter. -Paul
