"Throne of Lies" was my first intro to the Night Lords. And it was on audio, so it was more impactful to me; though I did not know it at the time. My second, was "The Dark King", again on audio. I wouldn't truly grasp the Legion or my love for them till I read the Night Lords Omnibus book. And then before that, listening to "Prince of Crows" on audio as well. I have a growing Warband of Night Lords at the moment. We do not bend the knee or submit to the Chaos powers. We do not call upon demonic aid or touch the corruption of warp tainted machines. We are as pure as can be. Cause we are Astartes of the Eighth Legion.

After that, he was recruited by Malcador to become one of the founding Astartes for the Grey Knights Chapter when the Heresy had started and Malcador saw the need for a new organization and founded the Inquisition properly.

Aaron Dembski-Bowden is a really talented writer, no doubt about it. I never cared for the Night Lords before reading Soul Hunter made me realize there's way more to them than just the surface-level "Ooh they're edgy bat bois and they do scary stuff". Reminds me a lot of how the White Scars were just generally unknown "they go fast and nothing else" marines to a lot of folks before the *knockout* novels like Path of Heaven and Scars actually gave readers an inside look. Plus, he wrote Helsreach. And Helsreach is... MMPH, Helsreach.

Thank you for Night Lords Week, I absolutely loved it! It's a shame nobody ever mentions that they may be "edge lords" towards the imperium and often sound like babies who didn't get what they cried about, but at the same time they have a surprisingly mature stance on Chaos and the dangers of the warp. I remember a scene in ADBs books where they even pick up flamers and meltas to "rid" a ship of warp taint and literally burn out the corrupted parts and areas that crawled with demonic life forms. They are true renegades!

I think we tend to underestimate the sheer level of absolute VENERATION most of Astartes warriors hold for their respective gene-sires. (There're some exceptions, obviously, but that's besides the point). Like, imagine knowing for sure that some mythical savior existed and having some material proof of his deeds, no matter how long ago they were accomplished. Then imagine being his direct descendant, flesh of his flesh. And then add Astartes super-human/amplified nature into the mix. And you will get... Absolute awesomeness. For real, those, stories such as this one is why I love wh40k. There's just something deeply natural, primordial about this kind of rapturous piety.

I really have always loved the Night Lords by far my favorite legion and im so thankful ADB has done them justice so well. Removing alot of tge memes and giving us plenty of lovable lore to lean on with the VIIIth. We may get over looked for rules alot. (Tho PA was quite kind to us and we can make some killy characters) but we will always have the best lore out of the legions to me, specially the traitors.

But didn't we see that in the very beginning the Night Lord recruits were the best and noblest members and not the dregs. As the Crusade moved on and Lord Konrad was not likely to come home, the crime elements resurfaced and the dregs of society were sent to the Legion poisoning the it. I would love to see a true return to the beginning, a Legion come full circle and regain their lost honor and place beside the Emperor!

Lowkey I'd like to be a Night Lord, using psychological terror as a weapon in war is sooooooo underrated. Like the difference between day and night time fighting, in the day you see the dirt, rocks, comrades and dirt puffs from incoming rounds. In the black however, its far easier to be disoriented. Combine night with a heavy smokescreen and rapid movement and ho boy the other side is gonna lose their minds literally. While they're in disarray hit them hard and with precision, this will kill their numbers fast and the skill of precise accurate fire will further overload their minds. Literally what the night lords did but they added brutal shredding and blood pools, its 40k tho so the Geneva convention doesn't exist
