Curze is a truly fascinating character. He loathes himself, what he had become and wants death, but at the same time, he cannot kill himself because that would mean betraying everything he believes in. He can't kill himself but he also can't stand living. Curze is absolutely my favourite Primarch of them all. The psychological torture he goes through is truly heartbreaking. I love imagining the universe where Curze stays loyal. There are so many ways in which he could have stayed Loyalist, which makes it so much more tragic that he didn't...

I think Curze is acting out his death and "godliness" and letting his talons be as they now are in a twisted mockery of what he realized was what his own Father was doing all along in his bid with the Old Gods. I'm convinced that The Night Lords were always intended to be "The Emperor's executioners" rather than the Space Wolves which again had similarities to the War Hounds" (Later to be: World Eaters). The Space Wolves were loyal to the Emperor. To a wolf. The War Hounds would have been so but for what happened with barbaric archeotech being employed in the Butcher's Nails. What of the Night Lords then? Their Primarch was driven mad by the limited futures he could see. The fact remains. The Night Lords were to be the brutal vengeance of The Emperor's wrath when turning from His light. Unfortunately The Night Lords and their primarch failed to fully discern the roles He set for them. Leaving it to the Space Wolves to be the unwilling executioners. A role they were never designed for.
@femasplasticcoffin48734 жыл бұрын
I think that the night lords (if they were not such vile creatures), would be closer to arbiters. Conrad was all about justice and punishment, too bad he became a cannibal in a planet of criminals, with no sunlight nor hope. This twisted his sense of fairness, trial and all that real justice ensures.
@maxwellfujs61244 жыл бұрын
I have to agree, the legions became mirrors of their primarch, but before the discovery they were all Terran. What if Angron never grew up a slave? What if Lorgar never found Faith? What if Perturabo never grew up with a chip on his shoulder from his absent father? Maybe Curze would have been closer to a character like Magnus or similar to what the previous person said, a law-bringer or even a statesman who might enforce laws that were just and not draconian (closer to the Khan)? The scattering screwed everything up.

The night haunter was supposed to be the emperors judge, sevatar even says this in Prince of crows, and how being a commander and in war drives him mad. Sevatar, First Captain of the Night Lords explained why the Space Wolves were the Emperors executioners and not the Night Lords: "Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it? The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The Wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always!"

I believe the crown was referred to as having a dark intelligence in it and being kept in the black library. So unless Tzeentch tricks Ahriman into grabbing it if/when he finds the library for a hilarious show when Night Haunter returns, I can't see the night lords getting it ( Just sayin tho, Ahriman IS trying to get to the library, AND a Returned Night Haunter Would Cause ALOT of problems, seems like the kinda problems Tzeentch would find very useful )
@Noble6Espeo4 жыл бұрын
I'm certain that, to some degree, the relics were in fact an excuse for more honorable or loyal sons to chase her down. However, given the major composition of the Legion, I have no doubts the pervasive view was genuinely for power and relics even below the captains as the individual company growth could only leave better options for the individuals. AS for if Talos was right for disobeying Kurz's wish, it really depends where you think love shows best. If loyalty, to the reader, is the best means of showing respect and love then no he was not, but to me and I'm sure others, the willingness to sully one's name, to disobey and be hated for it, all to protect or to avenge that which you loved is a more genuine and intense demonstration of love and honor. It may not be the wisest or the most idealized, but to me it is the most honest and the most personal, especially within Chaos, there is nothing more humanizing and real than to tarnish your own name and your own glory for the sake of another.
@alphariusomegon16374 жыл бұрын
Talos was a true son of Konrad, while the other Night Lords sought the assassin for the sake of a crown Talos hunted her for vengeance pure and simple in its purpose. That is why he is the Soul Hunter, the one son who believed the creed.

YES! I recall putting in a request for a Night Lords video and a couple weeks later, a slew of them appears! Thank you very much!! On the the review, thoughts, and other opinions. It is interesting to read and hear of the Night Lords reaction to their Primarch's death. To find out that the 8th Legion, a legion of made up of murderers, rapists, thieves, and the general scum of Nostramo even before becoming Legiones Astartes still grieved and were stunned into inaction is remarkable itself. This was the response that Roboute Guilliman had expected of the Alpha Legion when he killed "Alpharius." One thing that remains unexplained though is what happened to the Body of Night Haunter/Konrad Kurze. Sure M'Shen takes the Primarch's head, the Corona Nox, and a couple other items, but nothing, NOTHING is told of what happens to his headless corpse!! It remains so frustrating each time I read it! May I remind you that Night Haunter/Konrad Kurze foresaw Talos Valcoran do the the pursuit of M'Shen and why he called him Soul Hunter. The Primarch says this, "Because the name suits you. One soul, my son. One hunt, in the name of revenge. You will hunt one shining soul when all others turn their backs on vengeance." At 16:15 to 16:35 You mention, "halting the flow of recruits coming into the legion," perhaps now their fate could still be saved." he did halt the flow of recruits coming into the Legion. He Destroyed Nostramo! That said I do understand what you mean. If the quality, that is to say the character of the recruits entering the Legion been different, then perhaps things could have been different. But that was not going to happen unless a portion of the Night Lords Legion had remained on Nostramo and reinforced/maintained/repeated? the Primarch's lesson to the populace. Night Haunter/Konrad Kurze repeatedly did that acts that he did to bring about the "peace of a graveyard" to Nostramo, the problem was that once he left their was nothing to stop the Planet from going right back to what it had been doing. The Ultramarines made sure that each world taken would be secure and capable of supporting the supply line of the Great Crusade. The Iron Warriors left garrisons to maintain order. Even Lorgar and his legion made sure to develop their conquered worlds to loyally worship the Emperor before their fall. These three previously listed legions all took steps to ensure compliance of the Population. However there is very little evidence of such action taken by the Night Lords. Perhaps one of the most important lessons that was not embraced or understood by the 8th Legion is that fear eventually fades. People forget, others have no recollection of the terror that previous generations experienced, and others exploit the legacies of the past for their own gains. Honor? Hahahaha! Oh, you are funny! First define honor for a legion of killers, terror specialists, and fear reapers. This was a legion recruited from a world of violent gangs, where the worst of humanity could be seen on a daily basis, and overpopulation was kept down by the sheer number of suicides!! The Primarch had "promised/gifted/said" that these artifacts would be theirs. That these items were taken and their father's seeming unbroken version of the future was changed, only spurred these Night Lords to take back the items, whether in self-interest or in the name of greed. The Night Lords had a very twisted sense of justice, if it can even be called that, but they knew what to do to thieves and those that intruded on their territory. I look forward to your next video.

Unlike the 12th or 14th, I can't really say Curze was the one that ruined his Legion. On the one hand, he was batshit crazy by the end of it. On the other, most of them chose to be this vile. And second if the Emperor had left better and more Administrative people on his homeworld to keep the elite from corruption then he would have a honorable legion that would help keep him on the right path. I still love Konrad though he is a badass and crazy to the core and fit a 40K so well.

Imagine sending and thinking ONE assassin to kill the Night Haunter. Whose idea was that? It was only successful because he LET the assassin in. Pure luck from completely dumb miscalculation of a foe’s strength

I think it says in ADB's night lords trilogy that they sent loads of assassins

Nah man , emps had foresight too, knew it would only take 1, why send more when you know 1 will do the job.

Its not like they haven't sent dozens after Horus.

From a warp-frost and bloody data slate, a verified recording of the Mad Primarch, Konrad Curze. "Have you ever thought that not only did I want to die that night, but that I wanted a "sole hunter" to copy my style of vengeance, an ironic send off of their Primarch? One ... (sighs sarcastically) "worthy" member of this gaggle of worthlessness they call a legion, to copy those nights where I chased after a murderer down the Nostraman streets and alleys, for (laughs and sobs) justice? (Pretending to walk by his legion's troops, muttering) "This one is too stupid ... he's too preoccupied with torture afterward ... too slow ... a try-hard ... too stylish ... too damned ... Talos the Apothecary? (Points) IT'S A BINGO! Ah, poor boy; got his gene dad's gift. Ha! (whispers, as if to Talos' ears, "Sucks to be you, my sole hunter. Soul Hunter. HA!") Well, have fun with the madness, kid. Oh, you ... audience ... don't judge me so hastily. MY DAD didn't exactly help me with it either."

I don’t like how there re writing the story it was supposed to be zso sahaal chasing the assassin and he’s supposed to be the one Conrad calls his successor

Curze needed a pep talk from his Hawk bro and a hug from his... chocolate bro and he would have prob been alright.

Feels like a middle finger to have a woman kill kurze, how would she even severe a primarchs head?...
@Watcher-in-the-Dark4 жыл бұрын
Little sexiest there lol. She is a assassin of the Imperium. One of the absolute most deadly people to exist in that universe. With the skills and weapons to kill Astartes. Now no assassin would be able to kill a Primarch if they fought back. Obviously Konrad didnt. Although cutting through their head once their dead could be done with even a power sword more then likely. They have Thicc necks but could be done.

I could've sworn there used to be a 3 hour long Konrad video kicking about where the KZbinr went over how Curze brought his home planet into complete compliance? Been hunting for it for months!!! I ask here, as for some reason, my mind thinks it's you; as when I think of the scene where Curze appoints himself ruler of his homeworld, it is your voice that speaks his words... Any help, people? 😂

That makes no sense szo sahal was chasing the assassin, and cut of her hand . That is how he got the haunters crown. That is retcon of lore. Makes Lord of Night make no sense.
