When they say "most" live among the people or as nomads I would think there is a schedule. An "active duty" roster so to speak. Manning comms and the armory. Monitoring training records and training rotations. Stuff like that.

I believe that young neophytes also do not live among the populace, they do not head back amongst the populace again until full battle brothers, likely due to their entire lives being taken up by learning and training

Let's goooooo! So hype for salamander week! I really like how they actually act like protectors of humanity and not just brutal weapons. In the tome of Fire trilogy, it was interesting how spreading out the chapter allowed them to protect the cities on nocturne while it was attacked by the chaos space marines and dark eldar.

I really want to learn more about the Promethean Cult. Would be cool to see what their faithful look like when they go to war or worlds touched by the cult where the Salamanders have treaded.
@osogitzgraymane72 Жыл бұрын
One thing that you skipped over is in the first book. salamanders recruit from nocturne, and a good chunk of her people are inherently nomadic. so that part of their nature also still exists. It would stand to reason then that staying in the city would not necessarily be the best way to be among the people. The cities are more trade hubs and sanctuaries for the season of fire. Rather than permanent settlements.

I think it depends on the legion. The Emperor clearly had a roll for all of his sons and their legions and just from what we know of the 18th, 19th, and 20th legions they were the later legions ones that seemed to have been created for specific tasks. The Salamanders as the defenders of humanity when the great crusade ended, the Raven Guard the silent warriors who struck at the external threats posed to Imperium, and the Alpha Legion the secret police rooting out and destroying those internal threats.

Love the new Imotekh model. Nothing too drastically changed except his colours, and it still screams him. I'm definitely adding him to my army. I kinda think more chapters should mingle with their citizens. Having a spread out force makes it harder for enemies to pick a safe landing zone for an assault, as they're going to be faced with a force of Astartes no matter where they go. I think it's good that they interact as it reminds them where they came from and what it's like to be Mortal.

The scattering wasn’t planned, but planned for. The chaos gods scattered the primarchs, the Emperor made them land where they did, or somehow had something in place that sent the primarchs where they belonged. Another thing, had the Primarchs been raised on Terra as intended, would these worlds still have become their home worlds as the great crusade slowly found them?

I'm not a huuuge fan of this whole "The salamanders are the most human" bollocks.
@Bumbaclart247 Жыл бұрын
Why?
@Catonzo Жыл бұрын
Such a statement needs more explanation. Are you referring to the fact that humans in WH40k are not generally nice as a whole? Or do you mean that physically the Salamanders are in fact one of the least "human" in appearance of all chapters due to their eyes, ashen skin and large stature? But if you think that the Salamanders are not the most HUMANE of the chapters then I find it weird how you're partaking in lore discussions without recognizing the Salamanders are some of the kindest, most humane Space Marines. Not to the enemies of course and they are just as xenophobic as practically any other Space Marine chapter. However to humans who are their allies they are far more humane than any other chapter barring MAYBE the Lamenters. Sa'kan portrayed their kindness very well. He is technically worth more than cities of humans due to his insane rarity, yet he places himself between a bolter and civilians to protect them. Between a fanatical and, at the time, crazy Sister of Battle (though I argue she might have been proven right by the end - though we do not know what happened exactly) and the civilians he had decided to protect. Even despite having lowered his weapon, he would have been so vastly superior to the Sister that she'd likely be dead before managing to squeeze the trigger. So again, they are the most human - in saying they harbor the "humane" factor far more than most.

@@Bumbaclart247 2 reasons. 1. The Blood Angels, and Ultramarines already have that mantle. And have had it for decades now. 2. I would prefer the "through the fire and flames" baddass, dragon warriors approach. And bonus reason. Because it's never really justified properly in the 30k novels. It's told to us. But I honestly can't think of an example where it's been shown. The only exception to this, is doctrinally, we know they don't use Destroyers and Phosphex and all the other nasty weaponry. In summary. It's feels like it's not been properly earnt. This is mostly due to them being one of the last legions to get their 'legion character' fleshed out. And as I'm typing this, I'd say that's not even been done properly just yet. The Promethean Cult is a treasure chest of 'content' they've barely touched so far sadly.

Them not needing much sleep and hammering away at an anvil at ungodly hours of the morning for endless hours is likely a bigger annoyance😄 . The promethean cult is followed but all Nocturneans, not just Sallies, so even the populace are into the fire/burning rituals.
