Great podcast as always, thanks very much. I can't see why the coaching team have a fixation with playing four at the back. We play alright with a three and still have a lot of positional flexibility within that formation.

Thank you lads. A great podcast as per usual. Like everyone else I was utterly gutted by the late goal affording us a defeat. Trailing out of the BillyQ and walking home back towards the station suffering the opposition fans celebrating wildly has become the norm at Molineux and, boy, am I sick of it. I have been wrong in supporting Gary O'Neil sticking to a back four. That performance was so much improved in terms of consistent discipline and fluidity that we surely must retain a back five. I suspect we will at Brighton, but what of the following matches? I do hope Gary doesn't revert. The positive factor is that Semedo is freed to make a far more positive contribution and Ait-Nouri too - he's no full-back and his energy, skills and erratic risky play is less dangerous upfield and more concerning for the opposition. I was so pleased to see that two of my underrated favourites, Sa and Santi Bueno had excellent performances. In my opinion, Sa is clearly a much better goalkeeper than Sam Johnstone, but I can only think that something has happened that makes him second choice in Gary O'Neil's eyes. The problem with five at the back is that it gives us fewer options further forward. The front two of Jorgen Strand Larsen (he loves the meatballs, he loves the fjords) and Cunha (a great player but a little too moody, he needs to work harder to get involved more I feel in such games, because he is so effective when he is involved) seem bedded in now as our striking force. Let's hope neither gets injured because both Hwang and Guedes are significant steps down in impact. I initially had my doubts about Strand Larsen, thinking him a bit lacking in close control and physicality, but he has much improved and I'm quickly revising my view. I think he is now producing excellent play and adapting well to the rigours of Premier League football. I think the problem with the midfield three is that only one can play as the 'pivot' and that is both Andre's and Lemina's best position. The bad situation is that we seem to be forced into choosing one or the other, not both. Andre has played that role until yesterday, when Lemina was restored there and Andre's performance dropped off, mirroring Lemina's recent loss of effectiveness. So, start with the club captain or the expensive Brazilian star? Which one should be sacrificed? Not a choice I'd like to have to make. Certainly Joao Gomes and Tommy Doyle are the best candidates for the bulldog and Jack Russell roles of constant hassling and running that is required in that critical midfield area. Which means, whither any wingers? No place remains for them to start a game. We only seem to have one real winger now in Carlos Forbs and he'll seemingly have to be content with half-hour appearances from the bench. Equally there is no place wide either for Bellegarde, Rodrigo Gomes, Hwang or this season's missing man Sarabia. Pragmatism has to be our thing now in order to win points and for the time being that's the way of things. My position on the Man City winner is that there was no way in which it should have been allowed. I'm especially aggrieved by Silva's constant cheating in blocking Sa and once the linesman's flag goes up (which I didn't spot and consequently also made the same mistake in thinking that VAR was intervening to disallow the goal, not overturning an onfield decision to disallow it - VAR REALLY DOES HATE US) that should have been the end of the story. And yes Nunes definitely fouled Gomes. I thought Gary O'Neil, who has previously had stepped over the line in his touchline protestations, was remarkably restrained on Sunday and I'm fully behind his subsequent 'subconscious bias' comment, because it definitely is a reality. Shame on the FA for castigating him on it. The Brentford debacle was a huge blow. How could we have been so pathetically poor in such an important match for us? To concede five goals, especially after Chelsea, was indeed unacceptable and yes, undermined my confidence in us pulling clear of trouble a lot. It's going to be a huge November and we must achieve a majority of three point returns. I'm still behind Gary O'Neil, but my faith has been shaken. I'm not a Moyes fan at all and if it does come to us changing manager I'd rather we looked elsewhere, though where I have no idea! And treacherous, cowardly Julen Lopetegui can take a running jump. I hope he fails miserably at West Ham and then fades into obscurity. He may have had disagreements here, but his timing of jumping ship at Molineux was absolutely unforgiveable. I'd love to know how Pedro Lima is getting on. And what is the latest on Enso Gonzalez and Sasa Kaladjzic? It would be good to have Sasa as a back up for Jorgen. Raul seems to have recovered fully now and restarted his career at Fulham, so Sasa is not necessarily a lost cause. Just to cap off - this has been a long comment, my apologies - Fabio Silva was on target again last night for Las Palmas in their relegation six-pointer 3-2 win at Valencia. Anyway, up the Wolves, and here's desperately hoping for a morale boosting victory at the Amex and a steady climb out of trouble. dylanwolf in the billyQ

Some great takes as always from a level-headed Wolves fan. No clue about Enso but Sasa's recovering well I've heard but he wouldn't really be getting the nod I'd think especially with Larsen, Guedes and Hwang in contention for the striker role despite their different playing styles. It would be interesting if we grow a bit reliant on Larsen's playing style and Sasa, with a rather similar game, could just be plopped right in for the lad. This game was really the only game where having 3 defensive midfielders somehow worked, seeing the ultra-defensive tactics we made use of. Andre was having a good game but I won't complain too much about his substitution since Gary definitely had a different approach in mind and maybe Andre just needed a little more recovery after all that travelling he's been doing. As for tactics, if we aren't to switch back to a 4atb, I'd like to see a 3-4-1-2 formation with Joao Gomes/Doyle and Andre/Lemina as CDMs, Bellegarde/Cunha in the CAM/CF position with Larsen and Cunha/Hwang/Guedes as strikers. We could also move into a 3-4-3 with Forbs and possible R.Gomes occupying one side of the pitch while Cunha takes on the other. This gives us a little more firepower against teams that aren't necessarily in the top 6 against whom we can be looking to have much more of the ball. No reason to be ultra-defensive against a Brighton now is there.

Gary wont change tactics even if it leads to relegation, he has his eyes on the Bayern Munich job 😂. Psychologically I think most of us are ready for the Championship, we know we are down. On top of how bad we are, it hurts seeing what Nuno is doing with Forest. When Andre came off for Doyle when he was playing well, and then Guedes came on again, we all knew what was coming. Gary is clueless, get him out and give Rodrigo Gomes some game time ffs.

@@xavier-03238 What happened was we were denied a free kick from a blatant foul so they get the ball and end up scoring, Bernardo Silva was trying to block Jose Sa, which should've been disallowed in the first place. Also I thought we defended really well tbh, I know we parked the bus but playing 5 at the back works wonders much more than 4 at the back. Personally I thought we played well but the ref just favoured city.
