Glad to see many people in the comments knowing this isn't dancing. Animals do reps like this in order to 'calm' themselves down. This activates the peptide 'endorfine' in the brain of an animal, we have that too, and makes the animal feel more calm or less pain. This can happen for a few reasons: -stress -not being able to do their natural behavior such as socializing, roaming around, have toys to play with and so on. -no attention or enough care But especially stress. This is what happens then. Keep in mind that not all locations is where the animal learned to behave like this. Once an animal did this, some of them will never be able to stop doing this for the rest of their lifes. I can't judge the livingconditions of this racoon off of this 1 clip but be carefull who you judge, this racoon might be a rescue from someone else. Edit: I think I was able to answer most questions or respond to new reactions. In order to get a better understanding, pls also read my responds to people, there's 4 much more information in that too. I'll stop responding now to the comments that often come by unless it's an 'original' one😊

I'm here to spread information to pple so we all can treat animals better even it means there are 5 people seeing this. If 5 people understand, we can all spread the information to others like a chainreaction so we all can understand and help animals. @@UnknownRez8319 That's because you're a bit misinformed on the topic and you're looking at in a human mindset which is understandable because our brains tend to humanize what we see so we can make better sense of it. If a human was doing this it would be chilling and a bit of fun. The FACT is this raccoon is doing the opposite of "chilling". It's highly stressed. Raccoons are not naturally inclined to being cooped up in a cage like this. As funny as this video might seem to those misinformed on the topic, the sad reality is that what we see in this video is a suffering animal.

Animals usually act like that out of trauma
@JohnSmith-mk1rj2 жыл бұрын
Yep. Repetitive behaviors like this usually mean the animal is bored out of their minds, and there's nothing to occupy their time. Raccoons are intelligent animals (and yes, animals absolutely have emotions), and are also somewhat social, so locking them in a cage is a bad fate for them. Once they come to the conclusion that escape is impossible, they start doing stuff like this. I'm basically an idiot and even I've read and watched enough stuff about animals to know this much.
@curtisbrownr092 жыл бұрын
Right before I saw your comment I was all laughing and like aww so cute. I didn't know that raccoons do things like this out of distress.
@JohnSmith-mk1rj2 жыл бұрын
@@curtisbrownr09 There are ways to prevent this kind of behavior, which is a big problem in zoos - and imagine an animal like a Killer Whale kept in what basically amounts to a small pool for the creature. Keepers can hide their food in little hiding places, which forces the animal to forage - a natural behavior that will occupy their time. Toys and engagement also aid in preventing the animal from descending into madness. Although, in reality, there's just not a lot of ways to cage an animal kindly. All wild animals use an incredible amount of space. Critters like badgers will travel miles and miles each day. Literally over mountains. It's what they do. Same with bears (they're in the same animal family, in fact). How can you possibly put such a beastie in a 50 x 50 foot cell, or whatever, and expect the poor thing to be happy? Some zoos do stuff better than others, and I understand the need for conservation, but the best thing to do is to stop destroying their natural habitats to build cheap condos and strip malls and whatnot and let them live like they're built to do. Then, of course, people will want to hunt and kill them. Living in proximity to humans - even distantly, really - is just tough on nature. Humans never seem to know when to stop.
@curtisbrownr092 жыл бұрын
@@JohnSmith-mk1rj well those zoos have their reasons. I'm not saying that they're good/realistic reasons but the fact remains that humans always have an excuse if what they did or said was negative/bad/unnatural. There is no excuse if we do something good but for some reason we cannot help but to think of an excuse or a "reason" for the bad things.

This is so sad..if they understood well and educsted themselves regarding the animals that are or may be caged besides this raccoo, they would then realize that the racoon had some type of trauma and this is a form of showing it. Whenever an animal is doing things like this or unusual for them it and its cages even if its not...it is then agowing it has some type of trauma.
