The 26-year-old is preparing to file a lawsuit against LA Fitness alleging racial discrimination after she says she was denied the opportunity to work because of her hair and fired.

She won't win because Black folk were silent when Comcast vs Byron Allen civil rights case went before the supreme court. The NAACP, CBC and Urban League were silent. Therefore the court ruled that a plaintiff must prove beyond a doubt that race was the sole factor of the firing.

It's not a reflection of you at all, but the way they think; they probably think that's GENEROUS, as in giving *anything* to a black person is more than you should expect. You just KNOW they laughed while writing-out that check, using every racial AND economic slur while touting themselves as 'good guys' for having offered anything at all. And I'll never stop being angry over the ditch their bullshit digs out between everybody. It hurts, knowing that on its face (or MINE), my being white has to be seen as a risk until proven otherwise. The ugly history's too deep, and it makes things undeniable. But whether you believe me or not, I may never be able to stand by your side and ever understand truly what POC have to deal with... but I'll always have your back.
@commentsection64603 жыл бұрын
@@HoneyNVinegar I understand, I can’t speak for all black people. I know most black people are not bitter again white people. Black mothers nursed white babies with love, the same way, a lot of white people put their lives on the line to make things better today. I can assure you of one thing, minorities as a whole are forgiven, we don’t sit down, planning how to extinct any race. We’re always struggling to survive. There’s no reason for any white person to feel guilty for the past. Not understanding the issues and maintaining the status quo is the reason for the guilt. For example police brutality, anyone who thinks law enforcements are perfectly fine and we black people are the problem, wants to maintain the status quo , which is unsustainable. People can’t take it anymore. No one is going back by evolution. We’re still evolving.
@HoneyNVinegar3 жыл бұрын
@@commentsection6460 hey, you owe me nothing, or any explanations. It's not so much guilt... I try to avoid that trap. It doesn't help. What does is talking wherever, whenever we can, even in hey, comment sections. :) It's not ALWAYS awful and gross in here, surprisingly.

I understand how you feel Ariel. I went through a similar situation in a predominantly black organization I used to work for-- Things like this are typically unheard of, but it happened to me. I was there for a year. I felt exactly like you. Came in optimistic and excited, and left feeling broken. They screwed me in any little sideways way that they could. I didn't see it as a race thing at first either. I just couldn't understand why they were being so mean unfair to me when all I wanted to do was my best at my job and help people. After being broken all the way down, choking my 30 minute lunch down every day (when everyone else got an hour), and getting fired, I took a moment to step back and reflect. That's when I realized what their problem was. I didn't want to believe it... but it became clear as day. It's hard to fathom that such ignorance is still alive and well today on both sides of the fence. No I don't deal with the regular oppression that black people face on a more regular basis, so I can't compare myself to that. But I do understand the brokenness you feel from being treated that way from an employer who you looked up to, for something you can't control. I hope those arrogant and ignorant jackasses who mistreated you get what's coming to them! You seem like such a sweet person with a good heart, and even a forgiving heart. I can't believe they took advantage of your good heart and clouded your shine. It hurt my heart to see you cry! You never deserved this treatment!! I hope you're far more successful in your future endeavors!! Bless you sweet woman! Sending love and hugs your way!!! I also want you to know that shortly after I got fired by my former employer, I took that negative and turned it into a positive, by founding an international hip-hop radio show, to unite different cultures and diversities through the universal language of music, and I had amazing life experiences beyond my wildest dreams! I hope you can somehow do the same and turn this around to give and receive something positive from it :)

America will always be America. A nation founded upon murder, theft, rape, inequality, slavery, oppression and hate can not deviate from the principles it was built on. America has never been a free country with equaly for all. It took me a long time to accept the brutal truth. 44 years of life doing to "right things". Risking my life flying combat missions to protect a constitution that is not upheld. Earning degree after degree. Being a model citizen and never committing any crimes. In the end, none of it mattered. I've pulled pulled over and had guns pointed at me so many times, I can not count. This first time I was 8 or 9. My personal experiences in life have shown me I have zero to minimal rights. The truth at times is very painful to accept. Stay Blessed Fam!!!!!!!

@@sophalmen1989 they did get involved. La Fitness hired a forensic tech to analyze his phone. There was no record of him sending her that text message. The only messages that were exchanged was when she called in sick. She lied and made a fake text message. So when her lawyer got word of that he asked to have her phone analyzed and she refused so he dropped her as a client for lying. She didn’t win anything. This was from 2 yrs ago anyway. I kind of know how she feels, as a customer I experienced discrimination at Bank of America JFK Boulevard. Went to pay on my Credit Card and the seemingly white teller guy tells me “I need your ID” I asked why should I give you my ID I am paying my bill. He then asked me, “how did you get this card anyway”? HOW DID I GET THE CC! I tried to respond in like manner but I started to feel hot and also very cold. I gave him the ID and finished the transaction, I felt like he had selected me by my race for his treatment. He made me feel like I had no right to be in the bank. When I existed the bank I couldn’t see clearly, I walked up the street, across the street I had to stop and put my mind to find the next block that I needed to be. I came out of that bank different, wounded, July 21, 2020 to this day I think of it night and day. So I imagine how this young lady feels. I have cried, I have tried to think forgiving thoughts towards it but the hurtful memory is still here. Sometimes people that you have done nothing to could really hurt you. Be bless Miss.

As a black man who do pretty well for himself, sometimes I WISH a mofo would try me like this. Almost itching at the chance to put someone in their place. In general i'm mild tempered and polite, well mannered as I was raised to be but honestly I think situations like that is the one time to throw all the subtleties out of the window. I'm not gonna get physical with anybody, not even curse them out, but I will be heard that day.

@justinpearson91703 жыл бұрын
@@LucasMartin-im5ub Oh your not mistaken about one thing: I do have a chip on this shoulder. But you're incorrect in thinking it's anger. It's not anger in the slightest. What you're seeing is a person with ultimate resolve about how a situation like that will be handled if the time comes. People like you are quick to call it anger, aggressive and everything else associated with anything that isn't kin to logical thought and more so kin to emotions. You do that because it's easier for you to do... it takes less thought to put certain things in boxes. My intentions are calculated in correcting someone who have an intent to wrong me for what they think I do and don't deserve when I have earned it. Maybe you are of the fairer skin and never have to think about it? Maybe you aren't but living in blissful ignorance? I don't seek to do ill to anyone. What i'm talking about is nothing less than "Hope for the best but plan for the worse". In other words i'm prepared.

Justin Pearson Oh okay. Thanks for breaking it down. Plan but don't dwell. Hate is poison best left for our enemies. It wouldn't be the first time either so maybe I am confused... very confused 😂. Take care bro! ✌️
@justinpearson91703 жыл бұрын
@@LucasMartin-im5ub No need to be confused. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who is 100% apart of any ethnic group and even those who strongly believe to be would be surprised with a simple DNA test. We are all apart of one race; the human race. The only chip on my shoulder are of those who don't get that and think they know what you have, what you deserve, what you can achieve and so on just by looking at you. I have no tolerance of that towards me or anyone around me who are targeted in that way and for me to bare witness to it. And back at you... take care.
