I hate that we live in a culture that makes a work from home mom look as if she’s living in the lap of luxury and contributing nothing to the household. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, errands, and non-stop around the clock care deemed meaningless because no money is attached. Ridiculous! A stay at home mom is worth 150,000 a year in services with no sick days, she works on vacations if she’s lucky enough to get one, no time off, no bonuses, no applause for her cooking, and very little sleep. My mother says “Men retire and women die” - a woman’s work is never done - if she works outside the home, then someone else is in charge of her children for a fee and in most cases, she still has to do all the house work and meal preparations. Not thrilled with JJ line of questioning on this one. Can you tell? Lol
@lomelyo2 жыл бұрын
Hahahahahahahaha and what about before she had a kid and wasn't working? And a mom is worth 150k a year? The hardest jobs of labourers in the US don't pay that much. It's harder to have a shift at Walmart with a shitty boss than taking care of kids. That's why she didn't work before.
@sarahjane47192 жыл бұрын
You are right. Judge Judy is not stay-at-home mom friendly. Sad. Daycares should not be raising children if it can be prevented. And as for the other person who responded to your comment-ridiculous. I’m assuming he has never taken care of children.
@Yatlick2 жыл бұрын
In New York (where they apparently live), the average cost of childcare is $14,000 per year. Let's even double that, since it saves the effort of transport to and from childcare, and other benefits as well. That's still just $30,000 a year. That's ~$15/hour. I greatly value and respect stay-at-home moms, but you are kidding yourself about the actual financial impact on the household. Her actual financial contribution would have been greater if she had worked at McDonalds.
@javierfuentes5152 жыл бұрын
Well i think the way she treats this mom in regard of her being a stay at home mom Is the reason she's coming to the father of the child to pay for something both of them are responsible for, he's paying for the house and she was paying for appliances and that's for her son mostly, you understand a little why JJ is mean to her? She's not entitled to have money back bc she signed something and got into something on her own will
@gena46382 жыл бұрын
I agree that stay at home moms don't get nearly enough credit. I don't know if there's a set dollar amount that could represent what a stay at home mom does though...I think it probably varies household to household because let's face it, not all parents are good parents. But yes...its a very difficult, stressful and thankless job. I agree with JJ that she's not entitled to her money back, but her line of questioning was definitely rough. Maybe even a bit biased as she can't stand people who don't work...especially if they collect disability and/or welfare. I agree with all her points on that topic every time she speaks on it. The first replier is an idiot.

This is unfortunately why people need to be legally married if they’re going to play house. Divorce would have forced them to split the debts and the assets or settle around it. In Denmark we get paid maternity leave up til 1 year, than we have to find a job and day care. I will never understand the USA system were women are dependent on mens payment or other economic situation. We learn early on not be dependent on men economicly as a women.

It sounds like she hasn’t really been able to keep a job…. She’s lucky she has had so many people to help take care of her. I’m sure it has a lot to do with the fact she has a child.

@@benzamg32m68 let’s stop making excuses for people… if you’re old enough to choose to procreate, you should be old enough to take care of him. I think 24ish should be old enough. People feel bad for the child and so they step in to help - it’s a tactic i’ve seen time and time again. **I edited my comment to give more context for certain people who need it.

@@reencampbell4481 With that sort of reasoning, if I may call it that for a moment, then according to *you* a 12, 13, 14 y/o girl "should be old enough to take care of him". A suggestion: move your pointer to the right and 3 dots will appear, click, then click on delete.

@@maryrodger5130 you know exactly what i mean…. I gave tons of context but maybe you’re not intelligent enough to GET it. She was in her early 20’s …. People want to have children and not take care of them. Poor kids grow up in this situations all the time. I feel bad for them, not her.

Women should protect themselves by being financially self-sufficient and not depend on a man. So when they decide to end the marriage; the woman can stand on her own two feet.
