We have a Maremma Bardino Mix as a rescue from Italy. Big, beautiful, extremely intelligent and playful, perfect with other dogs and our cats. A dream dog if he has a garden, nature and something to do. No dog for obedience but a perfect partner if he respects you. We love him very much! ❤

That's a Maremma. I have one. Theyre great dogs. Very quirky, but he follows you because he's likely guarding you. Theyre bred to guard livestock against coyotes, wolves, bears etc.

We had a beautiful German Shepherd about 30 years ago. Never had a Shep before. He was beautiful inside and out, loving, smart and wonderful with kids and other animals. He was my soul dog. When he turned 2 or 3, he started having seizures. Always happened in the middle of the night or when he was sleeping. They we bad, he'd lose control of his bowels and pee. One time his tooth got stuck in our footboard of our bed. Anyway, we had him on 2 different kinds of medication. Eventually, by the time he was 7, the medication wasn't controlling them at all anymore. We checked into food or treats and even questioned our yard and the environment where we lived to see if we could figure out why he kept getting them and why they were getting closer together. I loved Jake with all my heart. One weekend he had 25 seizures from Saturday until Monday morning. We made the decision at that time, to have him put down. Just watch the seizures and if they get closer together. Quality of life is important. I look at pictures of him still and cry. It seems as though they have a lot more things today then they did 30 years ago. Seven years was not enough time with my Jake, but I'm thankful for every day I had. Your dog has the same old soul look in his eyes. He's beautiful, it was meant to be. Thank you for saving him.

He looks like a Great Pyrenees Mareema mix. Both are very large working dogs. They are happiest when they have a job to do. They are also fiercely loyal and will always guard and protect their family. They are amazing dogs. You are very lucky to have him.

SHE is his job. Seriously, they are great family dogs if they're allowed to do their jobs. Which is watch over their families. At one point she says "watching the neighbors again?" He's guarding the house. My Pyr/Anatolian mix does the same thing.

He looks like a Great Pyrenees, and acts as loyal and loving as they usually are. I have 2 Great Pyrenees, and they are wonderful guard dogs, for our livestock, and for the family. They can smell your emotions and feelings, so be aware if you have unwelcome guests at your house, they will guard you aggressively!
