He made no true confession, he even hid the sin (he said she was a “young lady”, she was a young 12-year old girl), the no legal consequence for statutory rape. No pastor should be in the pulpit with any legal, ungodly sins. They can repent, in front of the church congregation as the Bible requires, but they are let go from the church; NOT let back into the leadership position again!!

If he wasn’t a pastor and had these issues, it might be different if he had the spirit of God working in him prior. However, let's be honest, most people would not want to sit under a pastor who molested a child or preteen before becoming a Christian. They would feel he could slip up and do it again and wouldn’t feel safe with their children around him. This is not to say that God doesn't forgive those sins, but all sin is not equal. I don’t know where people get the idea that it is. Yes, Paul was a murderer in his day, but he experienced a complete transformation once saved, so this situation is not comparable. In the New Testament, God gives a mandate for those in leadership. James 3:1 states, "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness." James 3:1-12 explains that teachers are held accountable to live by the truth they teach and not lead people away from God's Word. If a teacher teaches incorrectly, they may cause their listeners to stumble, and if they fail to live in a way that's worthy of their teaching, they may be considered a hypocrite and deserving of further judgment.

Child Sex Crimes Investigator here…unfortunately it wasn’t until 2007 that the statute of limitations was lifted on sexual assault cases. Anything prior to that must revert back to the law at the time of the offense. If a sex crime happened in 1980, even though it is now 2024, you have to research what the law was in 1980. I believe the law was that charges could be filed up to 10 years from the child’s 18th birthday. So up to 28 years old. She’s clearly older than 28.

the sad thing is people like this tend to minimise their involvement to protect themselves, which again means, they have not taken full responsibility or accountability for the crime.. He made this sound like a consensual act between two people, when she was actually a child of 12, whilst he was a grown married adult in his 20's (with a small child), so this was sexual abuse. As Christians we often try to deny or protect the perpetrator, without a thought for the victim's life which was ruined, and to also help prevent future potential victims. I am sorry to hear this, as I heard Robert Morris speak here in the UK at my church, and I have also read his book. He seemed solid and legit, but then again, so do a lot of predators who are hiding in plain sight and in positions of power. I hope he is held to account by the law and the church, and my apologies and gratitude to the victim for coming forward and saving others. I pray you can move forward and have a good life.

The simple fact that he is minimizing the issue of her age (« young lady » ) and minimizing his abuse is astounding. Didn’t the church ASK for details when this first came to the their attention?? Or did they just pray that it would go away. And yet we are to take their words that there have been no other « failings » since???? And where was the church’s support for this « young lady »??? Let’s hear from other brave women who have found otherwise. These mega churches and their false prophets and the elders who worship the money they bring in are disgraceful.
