I cant tell if it’s a cope for insecurity or grandiose narcissism or just pure delusion. The sad thing is I think a lot of it is a genuine response to how men and their dads have simped over them their whole lives, combined with the fact that women lie to them and take their side no matter what. However, reality doesn’t care about your delusions or your feelings toward your delusions, reality doesn’t care what you “deserve” and reality always wins. Better to adapt to reality than complain how about things are, and the worst thing you can do is blind yourself over and over again because you don’t like reality. I think pretty girls learn this late in life but unfortunately so many other women encourage them to stay in delusion. That part for sure is a coping mechanism
@keithgraham9547

Here's my explanation. It explains a lot of people's behavior. We age at three rates: Chronologically Biologically Emotionally. Most people are retarded emotionally. Most men stop aging emotionally around 13-16. We like armpit noises, cool cars, and boobs, which we giggle about. Sounds goofy, but accurate, right? However, most girls are retarded with an emotional age of between two and eight. At dance school recitals, the two-year-old class does a little number, finishing by turning their butts to the audience and shaking their booties. The crowd goes wild and tells them how cute and smart they are. Before right, they have learned to manipulate with a combination of faking sweetness, tears on demand, and everything in between. If you want to date or get serious, find a girl who is emotionally mature. For some, that's as early as 15 to 20. For many, it never happens.

I guess the reason I don't see a relationship as being "worth it" is because my expectations of women are quite low. I've never had a woman take care of me or cook for me or do my laundry, cleaning the house, or anything else practical. I've never had nurturing, or encouragement, or emotional support from a woman, even going back to middle school age. I've been doing all of those things myself (except the house) since like 5th grade, so I don't expect someone else to do any of them for me now. (I grew up in a single mother household, if you can't tell) But in a way, since I don't expect much from a potential partner, well then there's not much reason to have one.

I feel like a lot of women in modern era rely too much on convenience like ordering food online hence why they don't cook. Cleaning is clearly a laziness issue. @@mamc1986 It seems like one of those double standard where it's the norm to encourage a woman to find a man that treats her right, but not quite the same for men. I don't see many men making posts like, "I'm just waiting for the woman that deserves me," with a bunch of comments like, "don't settle bro, you are a beautiful and unique person deserving of love exactly how you are." The only time I told any of my guy friends, "you deserve better," was when they got broken up with or cheated on. Literally just trying to say: You deserve someone who will not cheat on you. I think it's pretty dangerous to believe that you are a prize to be won by default. That just by existing, as you are, even if you are toxic and intolerable, you deserve romantic love. Some people legitimately need to work on themselves before they're ready to bring another person into their life. It just gets in the way of growth if you think you are already perfect the way you are. Don't get me wrong, learn to love yourself, but we're all a work in progress.

Courtney, your realism REALLY hit the nail on the head. When you have a partner that goes the extra mile, who doea gestures that are appreciative, why sabotage it over one little blip on the radar. When you post on your instagram about the places you and your husband Teddy go, you can feel the warmth and admiration for those moments. And, ABSOLUTELY, social media has become the green eyed monster, reaking havoc in peoples lives for no reason.

It's not cringe to buy your own, most girls back in the day would just be out wandering the fields looking for some peace and would take their own flowers. You don't need a man to buy you flowers, that is an outdated thing because nowadays there are thousands of more interesting gifts to give out to let the girl know you are thinking about her but maybe you get on his nerves more than you give him peace which is why he doesn't buy you anything

Either that woman has histrionic personality disorder, or, she has a blend of anxiety issues with histrionic personality disorder AND a bit of abusive tendencies in the background (comparing others to her situation). I would definitely leave this woman. I would have never even let her live with me

We all often focus on the things we don't have/ get (men and women)... I don't like the way she said it but yeah, be EXTREMELY grateful for having someone that cares for you to do all the rest of the stuff and never gets you flowers. Also, I think if you truly appreciate flowers (or anything) communicate that... tell them and show them how much it makes you light up. Tell them how much it connects you to others. Communicate.

I absolutely love Courtney's message in this KZbin video. There is deep truth in what she is saying. You can tell how much inner work Courtney has done. As a man that has gone through what I can only describe as hell in marriage, it is this practice that transformed my inner state. I practiced being thankful and grateful for what ever the universe gave me in that moment. The good, bad and ugly from my wife. I believe in Karma and the reason for a bad experience in this moment is not so obvious. Neither is the hidden good behind it. Being thankful and grateful might not change anything about your external situation but it does transform your inner state to happiness and peace. Now that your happiness comes from within, your external situation does not matter that much anymore and most likely will change for the better.

Really enjoy your approach to perspectives no matter their harsh presentation. That is a rare talent since most people stop listening let alone attempting to understand others once there's perceived or real insults. You often exemplify one of the most important truths I discovered late in life--the importance of stating where we agree with someone before focusing on where we disagree or don't approve. Amazing how often that calms the emotions enabling others to want to hear more of what you have to say which leads to a much better outcome than arguing. Gratitude is one of the sexiest virtues that inspires love! I hope you never lose your ability to be gracious in your disagreements, corrections and observations. It is fascinating to me how society sees how repugnant racist, sexist and bigoted language is while absolutely comfortable with profanity. Someone wisely said one's use of profanity often meant to shock reveals one's lack of communication skills or intellectual laziness. The verbal smack is meant to accomplish what one's weak communication skills and or laziness cannot. I liken profanity as the equivalent to farting in public. It feels good for the one doing it but the repulsive effects linger long afterwards for everyone else. Like a gentleman's behavior is attractive so to are a lady's grace and class especially while being strong and confident.

If a woman needs flowers to feel loved, then that is what she needs. However, the man probably looks at flowers differently if he would rather get everything else but flowers. They need to talk about that. They also need to talk about why flowers are so important to her. Then they need to either accept that he won’t buy flowers or find a way for him to get her flowers. A compromise could be just getting her an envelope with cash to buy flowers. Or he orders a subscription for flowers or something.

People need to focus on themselves and work out their own stuff, and be happy with themselves first. I recently dated someone who asked me if I was happy with the way my life turned out, and I said yes, and when I asked them if they were, their answer was a loud and resounding, NO. Quickly, the relationship ended and I am so glad I dodged a bullet with someone who was completely miserable and didn't accept their present situation or had the awareness to even begin that journey of acceptance...don't get into relationships with people who are not ready to accept themselves because inevitably, they'll ask more and more of you and you'll never be who they "want" you to be for them. Be happy with yourself first.

I think there are different levels to what you are saying. This is a rough one. For some people they may think no because they’re comparing themselves to some unrealistic ideal, or what they think they need to be. For some people this answer might change depending on if they get that job they wanted, reach a certain salary, if they make friends, get a partner, look a certain way… I think it’s that “if I just get this…” mentality that might separarte a lot of the Yes and No’s to your question. I know I compare myself to some other version of me that could be, quite frequently, but I know that in reality, I’m lucky to be in the position I’m in with the life I have. There’s a really good theory/phenomenon, I forget the name, where nothing you do affects your happiness because once you get used to it, you just go back to some relative “baseline” where there’s another, higher level you could reach and you start to itch for that. So it’s pointless

I don't really disagree with the girl in the tik tok, and I might be alone in thinking this, but if the guy knows she likes flowers then why not just get her some? Like, maybe instead of whatever random gift you don't know if she's going to like, just get the flowers you know she does like? It would probably be cheaper than jewelry or other gifts you could be buying. If the girl is good to you, and isn't being demanding or ungrateful, then just get her the thing you know she likes. If she is ungrateful then why are you even with her?

Answer to your question: social media is definitely a major factor of the comparison game. If someone starts to play this unhealthy game, then they're going to start fixating on things that they probably don't even need in their life. It's normal to want more, but it's also important to appreciate the stuff one currently has and to continue working toward other personal goals and desires. Yes, a picture can tell 1000 words, but which of those words are actually true? At the end of the day, an image will only tell one side of the story. I have started limiting the amount of time I spend on social media, and it honestly feels good. Hope you have a nice Sunday, Courtney!

I don't think women understand that men's main love language is doing things to make your life easier. If a guy is doing everything to make you happy and comfortable, but you're still complaining about trivial things such as flowers then you're not grateful. A man working his butt off to provide you a good life, respects you, loves you, is loyal to you, but you're fixated on the one thing he doesn't do? Yeah, goodbye ma'am.

This problem is actually global now it's scary. I live in England, my brother was at university last year and long story short he goes on a date with this girl. Context. My brother is an absolute unit. Looks like Chris Hemsworth (Don't tell him I said that) and he keeps getting all these girls whatsappin him and swiping on him. Anyway, he decided to let his hair down and actually hook up with one of these hoes on tinder. Anyway, this snaggle tooth Yorkshire bint turns up with a face like a slapped trout. Then she starts going on like, "You look taller/better/more tanned etc in your photo's" blah blah. This girl was so hideous, she should have come with a PG13 warning label, her face would make children cry. My brother can laugh at himself thankfully and got out of there quicker than special forces. He is 22, he said 50% of the girls his age are now brainwashed into thinking they can be with a movie star, doctor or a footballer. Yet all they contribute is a bad attitude, unrealistic expectations. It's kind of sad actually.

I believe the reason we get fixated on the negatives is because we believe everything they do right is what they’re supposed to do. So we won’t praise someone for doing what we think is the minimum, for being how they are ‘supposed to be’. So when someone makes a mistake it’s like a big deal ‘if I can get him to buy me flowers, I’ll reset that norm back to minimum’ like plugging a leak. Fsr there just isn’t a higher line than that for most people and so we just take it for granted.

I learned long ago that buying a small cheap bouquet of flowers every few weeks for no reason goes a long ways to make most ladies happy and buy me a lot of peace and leeway in the relationship for very little effort. This is an incredible easy no brainer we should be teaching all young men. But if a woman tries demanding it, or throws a fit she wants more expensive ones, I'm out. HUGE red flag. We should be teaching men that as well. And we should be teaching everyone there are different ways of showing love. Sounds like the young couple here have different love languages and need to sort that out. We need to teach everyone about that.

A grocery store near us has beautiful flower arrangements for about half what they would cost in a flower shop. So - every so often, I’ll bring home flowers - she is happy with them and at how little I spent - that I got a good deal. I am happy because flowers make her feel loved and valued. And she always tells our daughters that they need a man who will bring them flowers. (I buy flowers occasionally for my daughters too.) Win-win-win-win!
